no i will not quit the forums. i look at this site as much as some people look at facebook.

I understand your frustration over this issue. With this turbine is putting DDO on the same level as facebook games.

BUT I find it ironic that you are giving up the game, but not the forums; as it was on the forums (myDDO) that all this mess is going down. Players who just play the game don't see the offer wall/ don't know it exisists, unless the make a splash screen. And honestly who watches the splash screens. Who doesn't go AFK and get a snack during the "oh buy this pack you probably already own and/or no one else plays!". I know I do. On the ther hand you can't swing a dead cat on the forums w/o seeing somthing about this pile of whatsit. So out of curiosity you click on it to see what all the hubbub is about and next thing you know there goes the neighborhood.

I think the point is that he won't be spending any more money 'round here. Continuing to use the free services like the forums just helps rub salt in the wounds.

So yes, I'd say that he did indeed show them.

Actually Im sure there are brand new splash loading screens that we have not seen yet that lure new players/non forum type players to the offer wall for there "free points"

oh i know, I just haven't gotten a chance to harass you in a while so it looked like the perfect opp.

I was personally trying to keep my post count under 50 on this account name, but then turbine put up the offer wall and fubared my account build and didnt give me an option to respec my post count.

You know, I've actually seen post count deductions used as moderation tools on other forums (not THE other forum, but other forums). I wonder if that would be effective here.

I don't care what the source is it seems a little naive to me that someone would go clicking around a marketing program and then be shocked that their information was compromised, or if tracking cookies are placed on their computer, or if malware or adware is deposited onto their computer.

Seriously, nothing is free. Were people really thinking that they are just clicking a button and getting free Turbine Points? Obviously these companies are paying Turbine and your information/participation/demographics are important to them so they will pay.

I don't care if it is Turbine I would never have touched this Wall with a ten foot pole. I read about this Wall thing and stopped paying attention after the first sentence. What I really want to know is this: why would anyone in their right mind click through this stuff? Doesn't everyone understand that clicking on banner ads, marketing sites, etc etc is just asking for identity theft?

I teach my kids to not participate in these crazy marketing schemes, toolbar additions, surveys, or whatever. Isn't this like Internet 101? I am really sorry if people don't know this.

There is just no reason to participate in these schemes, unless of course you are very willing to compromise your identity and your computer's security and functionality.
