Experience loss on death...what happens?

I just died (to a bug, thanks Turbine) and was wondering all along :

what happens with death experience anyway? I thought they got rid of exp loss?
My exp bar tells me otherwise :/

Can someone explain to this returning player what exactly goes on, on death?

They did away with XP loss, since at the higher levels it would take several quests' worth of XP to work off one or two deaths.


Now, we have item damage. When you die, every item you had equipped will take a bit of damage, and its best to repair often.

Why does my experience bar have three different colors then?

purple, light grey, and clear/no coloration

Hmmm, I'm actually a fairly new player, been playing for about 7 months now. I never played when there was this xp loss. I'm guessing that if you're losing xp, something is terribly wrong. Btw, what do you mean a bug killed you?
Did beholders just mass spawn on your location?
You should do everything in your power(unfortunately we don't get that much) to contact Turbine and fix this issue. But yeah as Memnir said, you just take some item damage.

I just did the Foundry (House K). I set the place to self destruct, got to the blast doors, but they never opened, and the place blew with me in it.

I'm TOLD that the door is supposed to open, and I meet Haywire then (and the quest completes).

the purple dots are the ranks you have earned. the clear dots are the ranks you have not yet earned. the grey dot means nothing, it's always grey. when the dots turn blue, you're ready to level up, and then they all go clear again.

I miss XP loss people played more carefully with XP loss.
