Question Please can you help me understand "permadeath"?

I read a lot about permadeath and permadeath guilds on these forums, including the suggestion that if you want a join a guild that is non-zergy and RP-style, a permadeath one is the way to go.

However I still don't really "get" what permadeath is, what it means, or how a permadeath guild works in such aspects as playstyle, Divine magics, penalties etc.

Does the permadeath guild style of playing vary between different guilds, or is there some definitive ruleset that they all share?

If I was to join a permadeath guild, what would/could/should I expect from them, and what about them from me?

If I decided to invest 150 TP in a Guild Charter and create my own permadeath guild, what would I do?

I'm not sure if this should be a "general gameplay" discussion or a "guilds" discussion, so I put it here. If the moderators feel it's better placed in the other forum, feel free to move it.

Who's Parvo? Does he lead one of the Permadeath guilds?

Permadeath guilds delete their characters when they die. Every Permadeath player has a different reason for playing that way. Some want more of a PnP feel, some want more challenge, some just want to try out odd builds, etc... It's all done on the honor system because it is not a supported feature of the game, characters are manually deleted.

There is a permadeath guild listing in my signature if you want to check some of them out. There are guilds on every server and each one has it's own set of rules.

When I first started playing I heard the term permadeath...

I thought it was referring to those players that really suck so bad that they are like permanently dead through the course of any quest. Permadeath lol.
