Loot and Luck

Newbie here....Been playing about 6 weeks now. My highest level character is a level 5 Human fighter. I also have a level 4 human fighter.

On my lvl 5 fighter, I have done all of Korthos on Elite, and many of the harbor/warehouse on normal and hard. The best weapon I have been able to loot is a Masterwork Great Sword (And that came from Korthos). The only +1 weapons is a dagger and throwing axes.

On my lvl 4 fighter, I have done all of Korthos on Elite, and several of the harbor/warehouse quests on normal, and a couple on hard. Whith this character, I have a bank full of weapons that I consider pretty good for this level character. I have looted 2 +1 falchions, 2 +1 Great axes, 1 +1 Great sword, 2 +1 Scimitars, 1 +1 kukri, and 2 or 3 +1 long swords.

Is there some sort of "luck number" applied to characters that drives the caliber of loot that draw? This disparity can't be coinsidence.

The human tendency is to assign patterns and meaning to the essentially meaningless and random... however, if rolls are totally random then there will randomly be characters that somehow randomly roll better every time. Then we suspect a loot modifier.

On my characters, I'm incredibly lucky, then have stretches of absolute trash loot, then lucky again. My wiz/rog has been very lucky with raid loot. My bard had almost twice as many completions without getting what she wanted. My fvs is the only character so far to pull a bloodstone, and he pulled a xuum on his first ever desert run, where my bard has pulled bow of air 3x and dusk heart 2x.
