last year while waiting for the devil battle field some one posted a article on a new mmo for forgotten realms too be released in 2011 but i cant find the article .. so if your out thier can u help.. i dont want too miss the beta ty

hmm welli went on line and did every goggle i could think of.. it would make sense that hasbro.. or who ever whould not want more than one game out thier it would only hurt ddo or the other.. wellim still looking if any one finds any thing please mssg me ty

Atari has the eletronic gaming rights to D&D. THey are currently being sued by Hasbro (and Turbine but for something different) for giving out D&D rights to toy rival, Bandai.

Yes, Atari wants to do a Forgotten Realms MMO. Plans on working with Bandai vice Turbine. Plans are on hold due to Hasbro Lawsuit. also there is the exclusive rights that Turbine has. Or did have. I think that is tied to Turbine's lawsuit.

Hail the sweet but deadly goddess ty ... ide play both.. jsut the history is so deep in forgotten realms.. thier is no way they would be able too encompass the whole thing.. but oh well im getting a little burned out here.. love the game just thinking on playing somthing else for a little while i started this dragons age but i hate the way the combat is well any ty ty

Personally, I am glad there isn't a Forgotten Realms MMO. It would be nikpicked to death. I would be VERY PICKY. I am VERY PICKY about Tolkien, and that is much better books. When I played LotRO, I went over it with a fine tooth comb. It held up pretty well.

I think they would be foolish to do a forgotten relms version of the game. We all know that <insert your favorite character here> wouldn't look like they showed him, or wouldn't speak that way, do that thing, ask that thing, etc. And of course the town of <insert favorite town here> is totally laid out wrong and <insert lore here> precludes this particular quest from making sense.

WAY too many constraints using FR, going with a clean relm makes more sense, that's why in my own campaigns I have always stolen liberally from other campaigns but never placed my adventures in any of them. The move to Eberron that them be more free with their story lines and characters because even when they broke lore, 90%+ if the players didn't know it

I remember hearing about this too, though I'm disheartened to hear that it's on hold. I agree that you'd have alot of complainers, but FR is more interesting to moe, since it's more of a traditional fantasy setting as opposed to the High-magic, Steampunk setting that is Eberron. I'd like to see them give it a go, though, if they created a new setting, or used greyhawk, I would not be disappointed.

Plus, it would be interesting to see another company's take on D&D rules in an MMO...who knows, maybe they'd get it right!

It would also probably be 4E D&D.. so no chance of getting it "right". I live in Renton, WA (home of WOTC) and have gamed with WOTC employees and they say that everyone there still plays 3.5...

I have seen ALOT more people in WI that play 3.5 than play 4.0 LOL. I have even seen more 2.0 campaigns than 4.0 heh. Kit classes ftw. We have a deep history of DnD here because it is where it originated as far as many of the authors are concerned, and DnD 4.0 is kind of considered the bastid child, "my first DnD", or WOW on paper.

Almost none of the people who were gaming when TSR was around play 4.0. The general consensus is: if they wanted to make WOW on paper they should have just called it WOW on paper and not changed the DnD system.

if the game were more D&D and less "MMO" I'd play it, but I highly doubt anything will be less "MMO." I'm also a bigger fan of the second edition rules so anything is foreign to me.

Actually, I liked 2.0 better when Player's Option came out. BUt I am a 3.5 girl. Never thought rules could be so liberating.

You didn't play with the right DMs, v2.0's lack of rules is what made it more fun since you could fill in the blanks. Admittedly, you were too subjected to the DM's will so if you had a bad DM you were fooked.

There was a "rumor" started 2 years ago about this.

I have several friends in the gaming community (old Avalon Hill buddies)
and they have confirmed the rumor!

The best one Ive heard from another source; is that FR is going to replace DDO! and all the characters will be allowed to move!

Come on now; lets get real. I truly believe Turbine or Hasbro would be all over the media with an announcement!

i dont know about replacing ddo. i dont want that .. but i swore i read ,, iok i know i read a artical from a vid game mag. and it sure looked real.. but i dont have a good eye for all this new video age trickery.. i can only wish
