Recent Server Lag and Items Going Missing

During the recent server lag issue (was particularly bad for like 1 hour today) didn't anyone else have items go missing.

For instance, this is what happened to me.

During the extremely bad period of lag earlier today, I tried to move my DT armor (just hit 16 again) from my TR bank cache to my normal bank.

The DT armor refused to move from the TR bank. So I put it down to lag, ignored it (since its been happening alot recently), and decided to log onto my other toon to get some other items.

Log back on to my TR - poof - DT is gone. In none of my bank slots, bags etc - ***. GM said no chance of getting it back either. I cried - it had GFL, Corrosive Salt, Disintegrate (took forever to get that right combo).

Same thing happened with items in the mail as well. Tried to detach the items from the mail, items wouldn't go into inventory, re-log back on, and the items have disappeared as well. Lost a Dusk Docent because of this, which is sort of annoying.

So did anyone else experience these problems, or does the game just hate me.

I doubt, turbine will do anything, but at least I can get the in the corner and cry with other people this happened to.

I had a similar experience not long ago, thankfully it wasn't equip as important at DT though. I was running Tangleroot in the Castle. Was on my Rogue who was using +2 Adam Returning Throwing Axes. I get to an area where I want to pull a couple mobs out from the pack, hit my key to swap to throwing axes, hit attack, and suddenly notice I'm not throwing anything but rather swinging bare-handed. "***!", I'm thinking, check inventory and sure enough the +2 axes are nowhere to be found along with another item I had looted up to that point.

Like you I was pretty frustrated to learn the game has no mechanism, at least according to the GM I spoke with, to restore characters, items, etc. Of course when I expressed my shock in chat I got to hear all the so-called experts tell me how silly it was to expect individual character and/or item restoration. My first ever MMO was EQ, started when the Kunark pack came out, and THEY had the ability to do such a thing. Come on that was what 10+ years ago, you mean technology isn't better now?!

Anyway, not flaming Turbine so don't send nasty grams, - reps, warnings, etc., I was, and remain, pretty shocked that the capability doesn't exist in a modern MMO game. /shrug

All this happened happened in the space of like 20 minutes earlier today, when the server was having a heart attack. I think a lot of people were having problems with the bank and mail. Don't others had items go missing though.

Yeah, I just don't quite understand why they have a feature to restore items. Hell, the first MMO I played was Majormud (good old text based, bbs only, 486's) - even that had a restore item function! No idea why DDO doesn't have it.

Not flaming turbine either. If I really hated them, I wouldn't be paying my monthly fee - even though at times the game makes me a sad panda. Nothing wrong with criticizing turbine though. People just need to understand that there's a fine line between constructive criticism and just being a "****** bag".

Not looking forward to the DT lottery again T_T. What? Exceptional skills again.....NOOOOO!!

Logging off when this happens is a very very very bad thing. The item transfer was also experiencing lag. Next time this happens (and it happens all the time when lag is bad), do not log off, do not close any windows, stand up, stretch, make some coffee, hit the bathroom, anything other than closing windows or logging out. If you do not log, the item will show up eventually. Impatience in this will cost you your items every single time.

Had this happen to a friend on Orien.

Here's what I told him to do.

Goto a tavernkeep immediately.
Look in your buyback list.
Usually it can be found there.
You might have to buy it back, but better than grinding again.

Thanks for the info everyone.

Sigh... if only I had known some of this stuff sooner. Guess my last chance is checking the tavern and seeing if I can buy anything back.

But, if anyone does see a ddo server gremlin running around sporting my DT armor - punch him in the liver for me please.

I lost a lot of gear from my mail box that had just been sent.

Including GS items and named gear.

DM's response was once it is deleted there is nothing that can be done......*SOB*

Oh well back to grinding

What time in EST time did this hiccup happen exactly? I wanna assume it will be safe to do the TRing during early morning hours but I wanna try to see a direct pattern first.
