It looks like the build recommends 1st and 10th lvl. Seem like a good time to do it in my opinion...

Taking monk at 1st level is very important for the extra skill points you'll receive. You could consider taking the second monk level at 8th level rather than 10th, if you're willing to pick up the divine power spell a bit later than this build contemplates.

I prefer to take monk 2 sooner rather than later to get Evasion and that extra feat ASAP. But that pushes out all your spells an extra level, so it's a matter of personal priorities.

For a TR, I would probably pickup the 2nd monk level earlier to get evasion for all the extra extra quests and extra elites you end up running...

For my nonTR FVS, I took monk at 1 and 14. Level 1 for the higher skills x4 and level 14 to get blade barrier at L13 M1/FVS12. BB helps you pickup that next monk level pretty quickly.

I agree with this. If you can handle waiting a bit for your divine spells it's nice to take the second monk level early on to get evasion asap.

Yeah, I prefer the immediate gratification of taking monk 2 right away vs getting Blade Barrier one level sooner, but not everyone is as impatient as me. :-)

I waited even longer, until level 16 on mine. Wanted to wait until I got BB, Heal, and 2 Mass Cure spells. It's really up to you. You get Heal really late if you get both levels of monk first (since FvS get level 6 1 level later anyway compared to a cleric, and then only one spell, they need to wait for the next level to get their 2nd level 6 spell). If you have a static group with a dedicated healer that's fine, but if you PUG a lot or are often the main healer in your group, you may consider holding off on getting the 2nd monk level.
