When I enter the shroud I turn my graphics settings down to normal, part one results in no problem twitching each and every portal with barely any lag, part 4 again I recieve small amounts of lag but I can still twitch Harry.

On the other hand when I'm on my laptop instead of my gaming PC i lag worse than anyone else. Imo those experiencing lag need to improve their PCs as well as turbine sorting out the problem of DPS lag.

perhaps there is an underlying reason why no new 12 man raids have been released for quite awhile. Maybe there is a bottleneck....

Normally Shroud lag is minimal for me, but I have noticed more over the last several runs. I run a machine that should easily handle anything this game can throw at it on a very good internet connection. There is always the potential for an abnormal network issue, but it does seem like the lag is incrementally getting worse again...

Pt 4 of the Shroud can get laggy, people have to instruct healers to start spamming. Junk ass way to play a cleric, but because peoples healthbars are five, eight second behind what's on yer screen it's the only way to do it. I recommend being pretty forceful about this, it will save yer run.

TOD, on the other hand is totally luck. If yer caster dies yer pretty much screwed because by the time yer healers realise he's dead and in need of a raise yer all dead.

This really is a serious issue that needs to be addressed and shouldn't be ignored by the Devs.

Alas, we all know what will happen anyways.

Sorry, the lag is not client side.

Yeah I know theres 19 bajillion other lag threads, whatevs.
I'm sort of taking shots in the dark here, but seeing how much and how often this and other long standing issues have been addressed by Turbine recently perhaps its not too far fetched to think that they aren't GOING to do anything about it? Is there a "they managed to get the engine started again, but it's just not worth the time/cost/effort to fix it for the long term" sort of scenerio going on here?

Everytime I see high DPS lag (ideally where you only see yourself swinging) in part one, then Parts 4&5 are pretty quick.

Good communication with the Clerics/FvS is usally a key from what I've seen. IE, who's primary, in or out for the blades. I'm sure it's a PITA for them, but if I get a Major Pot, it goes to one of them.

Don't you remember? It was people dragging things through the subterranean area that was causing your Shroud lag. DA and DS have saved us all!

Didn't everyone buy that pile of BS?

    Default first part is stupid

I find that beating on portals with our sticks until they close just out right dumb, can anyone think of something a bit more interesting for the portal beating perhasp we all have to do while standing on 1 leg reciting the alphabet backwards.

The portal beat down is the best time to catch up with old friends, and make new ones, tell some jokes, etc.

Time to have fun before the real work begins!

Saw lag in shourd and said why not Ill sign.

Hear is to hoping Warner Bros wants to make a better product then turbine reinvented, just to be able to sell!

The lag in this game in raids is the worst I have ever experienced (except for some of those 100 people in the zone fights in DAoC which were still better)

It is not my computer or my settings, 10 years of gaming I know better - It is the game trying to compute all of the damage effects, spell effects, etc. for 12 player characters that is all. This game has many effects on each player character, between armor, weapons, equipment, spells, cookies, area effects, skills, capstone benefits, gear combination effects, etc, etc, then what monster or action those effect, etc = the game is just overwhelmed computing all of this and has an issue in how it communicates. I would have 20 effects casted on me in DAoC and have 50 other player characters running around me on my system before this one and guess what ... very very little lag.

One way I noticed this my first character on here was a melee, I would solo and get zero lag. I roll a cleric do some solo with 9 self buffs rolling - guess what I start getting some combat lag (the old numbers rolling over my head routine).

The games versatility and options for gear, spells, etc and how it is programed is its down fall = too much to compute when every movement, every choice needs to be communicated to the server then sent out to us, then back, etc. That is why the lag starts with movement, then animation, then spells all things we generate at our end but the server can not give us because it is trying to compute all of the other information and hence why a VoN, DQ or Hound Raid is rarely laggy vs a shroud or ToD where everyone is buffed up and geared out and damages are going off everywhere. Anyway my input from a gaming side and having played about 12 online games to endcap.

And turning everything down does not help and all combat off which I have done = it all helps for a bit but not that lovely part4 first round with Harry lag spike, that happens once every few runs, and I look around and 3 melee are down.

Fix the communication problem folks I am sure it is simple like unneccessary data being sent or something simple = It is painfully apparent the Devs do not play past Hound :P The lag would be fixed and boot parts would be WAY easier to get!

I will say if you are getting lag at the portals other then spikes it is you system I never get it except rare spikes or about half the time running to the chests = most lag is poor client systems, the rest just suks! You can build a screaming system now adays for like 500 bucks that will run this game just fine, if you have a case and monitor for it 750 with out.

Now come on Warner Bros dump some money on the game not making a DDO movie!

    /signed as well...

I only started doing the shroud about 2 weeks ago. First week was great and fun and entertaining. I was smiling on the inside when people were complaining about lag. But then about a week ago the lag wall hit me as well and I felt like a real tool...

    First week performance:
Flawless combat even with 10 out of 12 melee dps toons.

    Following two days performance:
Lag of between 15 - 50 seconds. (e.g. After the group reported as killing harry, 30 seconds later he would die on my screen)

After fresh format of entire O.S. and reinstalling game and new drivers:
Lag of between 15 - 90 seconds. (e.g. I only get to beat on the first two portals before the lag becomes so insane that I don't know where the portals are. My client is still processing as I can run around the entire area fine, chat is fine, voip is fine, but my groupmates are displayed by static characters sometimes in mid air, and I only see roughly half of the portals spawn before the non-lagging groupmates destroy them.)

I submitted a ticket, along with my pc info; maybe it will help tech support determine the problems.

I have cancelled my VIP account partly due to this shroud lag.

And before people say it's player based: I managed to due 150+ shrouds on the EU servers before going over here. I never, not once, saw this DPS lag there. I have only experienced it on the US servers.

EDIT: And before they say it's due to the higher latency due to larger distance from servers: I do not experience it normal questing. I can feel the latency in normal play, sure, but I never get the 2 minute stop spike that I get in the shroud.
