    Default Sorc builld advice

I want to make a Mazrim Taim themed character, for those who know Robert Jordan. for those who don't, this means a fire and earth (well there aren't many earth spells here, so maybe just elemental) specced sorcerer with maximum harm to the mobs (note: i don't mean dps per say; i mean the ability to harm them)

can someone point me in the right direction?

It'd be a rather standard sorcerer... Take Empower/Maximize, then spec your enhancements into the kind of spells you like (I'd guess fire and maybe acid too), and you should be set.

Do a search, there's a handbook somewhere that is VERY useful. One thing I've learned thought is that for playing with firewall the best combo of buffs is exp. retreat + jump.
Also with exp. retreat and jump should be easy to herd a lot of enemies to blast 'em together, in a more mana efficient way.
If you group with an intimitank glue on him/her, s/he is your friend =).
Get as good Power ? as u can on ur off hand and a clickie for superior/greater erosion/fire on the main, click it and switch to a lore weapon when u acquire that (use the hotbar), there are also evocation weapons that add to the DC of your blasting spells so after buffing you may switch your off hand for that (just remember to wield back again the Power weapon before resting).
At early stages make sure u get the archivist necklace as a reward from Misery's Peak, you'll use that for a LONG time (does any caster ever throw it away?!?).
You can start off with burning hands but as soon as you start doing harbor quests switch to acid spray (at the trainer for a fee), in Korthos several enemies take double damage from fire but in stormreach you'll find several immune to it.
Consider getting false life at some point (not your 1st choice of lvl 2 spells but definetly worthwhile), its an incredible survivalist spell. As far as lvl 2 spells go Web could be your 1st choice, great spell for the earlier levels.
Remember that as a blaster the concept is similar to that of a barbarian: weak defense and strong offense, but even weaker defense as you have few hp so if you cant blast 'em to oblivion in 1 or 2 spells stay away.
Most of my deaths as a sorc came from only seeing the enemy when it was hacking me to pieces so put points in Spot! Human with 12 int and 10 wis makes that easy. And after maxing cha the rest can go in con. Some str is good to avoid getting helpless by a ray of enfeeblement but you can get that with a belt/ring/gloves, or even a wand of bull's strength if you loot that at some point.
For skills concentration and spot come 1st, then balance, then your choice (UMD, haggle, diplo, bluff, sneak, etc).
    Hope it helps.

EDIT: scratched *small* in "small fee", I've just checked and the fee is HUGE for a new character, without help its actually impossible for a lvl 2 to pay for it which is ridiculous as the ability to switch a few spells every now and then is inherent to the sorcerer.
