So I haven't played in a while. Like...last time I played I was paying a subscription. All of my characters have the ~Khyber after their names. They've always been on the Khyber server... Is this just how they free up character names or something? Are all my names gone? Do I have a way to change them to not have the server name in them?

Most likely happened when the servers merged, and someone who was on a server that got merged into Khyber had the name longer than you, hence they got to keep the name and you got the -Khyber tacked onto the end.

As someone mentioned already about the server merge, I won't here, but you may want to look into a name change. I think there was something about that as well. You may have been able to do it for free if you had the ~name on yours at the time. No idea if you still can tho.

It happened to EVERY single character...

During the server merge if 2 or more characters had the same name the one that was most recently active got the name the others had servername tacked on. If two with the same name were active the one here longest got to keep the name. You must have been inactive before and during the merge. Each character should have a rename token. I wouldn't try to get the original name back as the reason you were renamed was because some else was able to keep the names.

The command I beleive is /changename NEWNAME

But still...every one of my characters? Look at my join date. :/

It wasn't based on join date unless two characters with the same name were active.

If you had not been in game for a while you were placed at the bottom of the list.

The oldest active player with a name was given priority.

Oh well. I'll probably start over anyway. I'm fairly sure I had more than 4 characters, so dunno what's up with the missing ones (I know 4 is the Prem limit, just bites that I apparently can't choose). Basically I haven't played since well before the F2P stuff and I'm worried I'm pretty much going to be starting from scratch.

If you account was inactive, you also weren't give priority, but you should still have a name change token for each character.
