    Default 2 Rogue / 6 Ranger / 12 Barbarian - Tempest Frenzy. Worth rolling?

(I apologise if this has been posted before. I did search the forums, but couldn't find anything.)

I thought about this built and I wanted to know if it is vial able for endgame (i.e. worth rolling). I personally only have limited experience with barbarians myself so I cannot judge if the 12 barb levels are gimpage or not.

    Human, 32pt
    Chaotic Good
    2 Rogue / 6 Ranger / 12 Barbarian

    STR: 16 +5 Level +2 Rams +6 Item +2 Tome +1 Human = 32 (+X Rage?)
    DEX: 15 +2 Tome +1 Ranger +6 Item = 24
    CON: 16 +2 Barbarian +2 Tome +6 Item = 26 (+X Rage?)
    INT: 8
WIS: 12 +6 Item = 18 (mostly for will saves)
    CHA: 8

Level split: 1-2 Rogue, 3-8 Ranger, Rest barbarian
Skills: Keep UMD maxed, and also grab Tumble/Jump/Balance on the way.

    Feats taken:
    1: Dodge
    1: Human: Mobility
    3: Khopesh
    6: Spring Attack
    9: Impr. Crit Slash
    12: G2WF
    15: PA
    18: Cleave

The obvious feats received from Ranger and the obvious favoured enemies.
AC might not be something worth to mention.

    Important Enhancements:
    Tempest I
    Frenzied II
    Barb Constitution II
    Human Impr. Recovery II
    Extended Rage IV
    Hardy Rage III
    Power Rage IV
    Barb. Power Attack III
Barb. Willpower III (depends on how low will saves will be)
    Ranger Fav. Attack I
    Ranger Fav. Damage II
    Rogue Sneak Attack Training I
    Ranger Dexterity I

    I see the following benefits:
    + UMD
    + Evasion
    + Sneak Attack 1d6+3
    + Khopeshes

    And also the following downsides:
+ HP might be too low for it's armor class as Toughness is missing
+ Might not be very high on the DPS side depending if Frenzied III is better for DPS than Tempest.
+ Might still suffer the arch-typical Barb syndrom of requiring a healer to stay alive even in ''easy'' quests.
+ Should probably have been a WF but I wouldn't be able to fit in all the feats.

    Questions:
How much STR and CON would rage give me? Would I be even? How many barb rages would I have to use in a quest? Would another stat distribution more beneficial? Will it loot only scales and stones?

How I would play such a build:
I would try to be as self sufficient as possible in quests without a dedicated healer nearby (i.e. short manning) and go with full Rage when DPS matters (i.e. Shroud beat down, endboss beat downs). I'd get UMD gear alongside with guards to stay alive and get the best out of a low AC when I'm raged.

Yes it has been posted before, and the build has a very nice layout with very good explanations all the way up to 20.

Thank you very much. Something interesting to go through. Although I like my approach with more will saves better than the trap doing one.

I've got a 17 barb rog on khyber that i haven't played since switching over to cannith but it was a great build. personally I'd skip the 6 ranger levels and do more rog instead for more skills and sneak attack damage, tempest isn't really that big a boost over g2wf.

    Find me on Cannith: Level 20's: Scathach (x2) / Boudicca / Caileach / Fhirdhia / Cuchulain / Maedb (x2) / Dagdha

I didn't take those two rogue levels to be able to do traps (notice that my INT will be too low to have all the skill points I need). I have 'em for evasion and UMD. More rogue levels won't give me Frenzied III which is possible more DPS than three rogue levels. And I also have ranger for:

    * Ram's Might and Jump
    * Manyshot
    * Wand usage

Why I prefer WIS over INT with Trapskills? Will saves

Just for kicks I will probably double greater reincarnate my amazon build and make him 2 rogue / 18 barb to personally check the difference between the two. Something tells me that, as someone who likes to be able to do many things on Spisey, I am going to miss the skill point boost from the ranger levels. Maybe even just drop my int and increase my wis and keep the ranger levels.

Bah now I have more to think about before spending the TP points to experiment!

Heh. Sorry for giving so much opportunities ;-)

I like the Heavy Pick/Light Pick idea now too, although the build is really starve on AP and fitting in racial and class enhancement lines of toughness can be very tight. Basically I dropped Favoured Defense/Resistance for it as I value some HP more than +1 AC towards to type of mobs while my AC is rubbish anyway.
