Default Warforged Base Points At Creation

Searched to no avail. What is their base stat point allowance? Is it similar to Drow or just a base 28?

    Drow is +2 Dex, Int, Cha, and -2 Con...sometimes making people refer to them as 32-pt builds...28 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2.

    WF is +2 Con, and -2 Wis and Cha...sometimes making people refer to them as 26-pt builds...28 + 2 - 2 - 2.

it can be important to note that racial stats are not the same thing as build points. drow can achieve a natural score of 20 at level 1 in dex, int, or cha, and doing so costs as much as getting from 8 to 18 for other races. however, even with "32 point" builds unlocked with the other races, you cannot take their non-racial ability scores past 18.

in the case of warforged, they do start with 2 fewer ability points total, compared to "neutral" races like humans or elves (whose racial bonus is countered by their racial weakness). consider: the equipment space that warforged do not have to devote to obtaining important immunities (like poison, disease and the ever useful underwater action) can now be allocated to "pure stat" items. because of item budgets, when an item has more than one effect on it, the strength of each effect is weaker than if the item had only one of either of the effects. because of this, warforged characters can much more easily afford to wear items with only a single, powerful bonus to their ability score or skill. this helps most in the low and mid levels, but can still have some effect in end game if you ever have to make choices in your itemization.

every (smart) character in the game should start with at least 10 in CON, and it's recommended to take 12 for even the most focused "non-combatant". everyone gets hit sometimes. constitution, in many respects, is the most important ability score of any of them. for most characters, wisdom and charisma are dump stats anyway, most especially wisdom since it doesn't even affect any important skills.

while it's true that almost no one will take their constitution to 20 right off the bat (enabled by being a warforged racial bonus), you still have to spend fewer points to raise your constitution -- 14 is as easy to get to as 12 for most other races. essentially, warforged are guaranteed to have one more HP per level than anyone else but dorfs. and warforged have the most toughness enhancements as well... but i digress.

    Str, Dex, Int: 8
    Con: 12
    Wis, Char: 6

You can either add 28 points or 32 points to this.
