Default Return of Free Trial & Stormreach at the Turbine Store!

By popular request, we have re-enabled our Stormreach Free Trial program as well as the availability of the Stormreach client in the Turbine store for new players itching to get into DDO prior to the launch of DDO Unlimited. Please note that these two programs will be turned off prior to the launch of DDO Unlimited, but until then, enjoy and welcome to DDO!

Yeah now all the people I talked into playing can actually do so. My new guild just doubled in size!

    Default Thank you.

Thank you. So I havent tried as of yet, but I assume a person wants to try the game out they can download directly from turbines store? Is it a 10 day free trial? sample: Person downloads the free trial today, plays till the 15th then has to buy a month subscription for the next 16 days so they can play until mod 9 comes out? or will the trial period go on until the release? I dont have issues either way, just want to tell my friends what the deal is.

very good news. luckily i still had 10 day guess pass from box. only trouble was, my brother on the trial account has not been able to send me any tells. GM last night did not understand why that was happening. I bug reported it, but that doesn't help clear the issue.

    Thoughts?

Basically we just flipped the switch back on for the Stormreach version of the game for a little bit longer to bridge the gap between now and launch for players who really were itching to get in. We saw a lot of comments from players who joined the beta and liked the game so well that they know they're going to be a VIP, so they started up a Stormreach account. When we shut off the free trial/game purchase, no more of these players were able to get into the live servers. So we turned the trial and the game purchase back on for these eager folks.

If I understand your situation correctly... in the current Stormreach version of the game the limitations on trial accounts to help curb spamming are much more rigid than what will be in DDO Unlimited. In the Stormreach version of the game you can't send tells as a trial player, but can receive them. As a work around until then you can try: inviting them to your party so they can see/hear group chat; inviting them to a guild so they can see/hear guild chat; inviting them to a customer user channel so they can chat there too. If you're in the same instance/area as them they can also chat with you.

Translation we saw another bunch of people we could get money from so we helped them spend it.

... what NineTails said. Pretty simple logic if ya ask me. Only one thing bothers me. Where in the Abyss does one find anything resembling a link to download the actual game if they can't find their game cd's?

Question Will DDO Stormreach Characters transfer to Stormreach Unlimited?

Just wondering. I recently purchased the original DDO Stormreach retail game and have been playing for a few weeks and have been building a character. By reading this tread it sounds like the old version will be turned off! Does that mean my character will be lost?

I realize 3 weeks on building a character isn't much, but I have really been enjoying the game and spending several hours grinding and would really hate to lose all my progress (ie: now level 4 Paladin). The grind seems a bit longer in DDO than other MMO's I've played due to the rank system 4/4 to reach +1 level so it seems as though I have actually leveled 16 levels already!

If that is the case I will probably abandon that character and create a new one on the beta version I am also playing currently. Maybe this has been answered in another post, if so I apologize for not searching the forums well enough, but this was the first I heard of this.

It's my understanding that the current live version of SR will simply be updated to be EU (what is now the beta) so you'll have the character you currently have on Storm Reach. They suspended activating *New* accounts, trials etc on StormReach because it was going to become outdated when the EU version went live, but then the delay meant that people were locked out for a month instead of just a couple days. If you already have it you're all good.

they will be untouched. It not as big a change as it would seem. Basicly its like your neighborhood grocery store hung up a sign that says "under new managment now offering microwaves for sale or rent"

everything else in the store is the same, milks in the same place, so is the soda and chips but now they sell microwaves and there is one new employee who everyone says is the boss. There is also a new section in the back that sells microwaves and a bunch people youve never seen in the store before who are just browsing.

So... If I play trial version with my friends now, can we continue playing our characters in full game? Or is this just waste of time?

usually buisnesses make a product or service and then deliver said product or service in a timely manner or on a predetermined date something turbine seems to have a problem doing.

But they don't seem to have a problem taking peoples money anyway telling us Soon or pushing back the mod 4 days before release.

    Default Download link

Here is the link to get the regular game client:
    http://na6.salesforce.com/_ui/selfse...5%26t%3D4&ps=1

    For the High Resolution client:
    http://download.ddo.level3.turbine.c...er-HighRes.exe

    For the non-high resolution client:
    http://download.ddo.level3.turbine.c...tandardRes.exe

The only real difference between them are the higher quality textures and such, which I strongly suggest if you have a decent video card.

Tolero, there is no link to the trial on the home page. I was asked about DDO and I had to google "trial DDO" to find a link.
DDOwiki.com, #1 source for DDO information.

    Thumbs up Thanks!

Thanks to srwood and captain1z for their quick replies to my question. I am glad to hear my characters will be safe throughout this transition.
