Default The (un)official Tharashk Reunion Thread

Before we were joined with the group hugging Thelanis and the super uber and insane Xoriats, there was us, Tharashk. The small but well rounded group of individuals who seem to get along with anybody.

Well, if we didn't, we'd be soloing alot!

So, where are you now, former Tharashkians? How about the guilds you were in? Any great stories from way back?

For starters my Guild, Merc's Only, was started on Tharashk when my hubby, his best friend (and our DM), and I got sick of the hounding and the blind guild invites in those early days. Our DM was the leader, and he was so angry that Mercs was already taken, he quickly typed in "Merc's Only" not thinking of the punctuation.

We get alot of questions on who Merc was and what's an only. Also, Everyone wondered if we were an offshoot of MERCS, who we got along with well.

Then again, this guy spent hours building the perfect cleric, every detail was mapped out, but forgot to change appearance and more importantly, the sex. Lanarissa is a red headed guy with a really bad sunburn.

While the player is gone, he gave my hubby his account, and Lanarissa lives on to this day, the only remaining orginal toon of Merc's Only.

I remember my first raid VoN, with Eriik and the missus. And how I beat her in the roll for the Silver Concord Ring, which I still have (not wearing it, but I could not bear to sell it!)

I remember hanging with Amen and Bane guilds alot.

Back on Tharashk, I used to lead a small guild called Ophele. It was a nice group of very casual but nice people. However, the guild fell apart soon after server merge as most active players and I did not have the strength (or the desire) to really put one back together.

I have very found memories of those days. Probably some of my best DDO memories which can only be competed by an handful of IFV raids from last summer.

I remember being introduced to raids by Maelstrom and Tiger, Vua being forced to lead a dragon raid against his will (honestly, sorry bro) , how much trouble Ophele had to organize said dragon raid, the loot weekends spent playing with Sanctuary and Bane members and many, many other things.

I remember Dragonsies, how could I forget him?

I started on Tharashk when the game launched. I wasn't going to join a guild, but eventually ran with Amen for a while. I remember being intorduced to loot running by Corwyn; hitting the "chicken chest" in Caverns of Korromar. I also fondly recall Fel Wysper's acerbic and witty comments on the forums. Running with the Brazillains was fun.

I left for Ghallanda in the Fall of 2006. While I never stopped playing my main toon on Tharashk, I stopped running with anyone but my static group and with my kids (6 toon limit per server hurt). However, now with more slots, I have enjoyed playing on (what is now Thelanis) again. It is tough splitting time between two servers, but interesting as well. Sometimes I'll see Tharashkians I remember from way back: Raidan and Allanon, but mostly everyone is new to me.
    Almost nearly always: Ghallanda
Most likely: Heisenberg, Landau, Boltzmann, Sommerfeld, Rutherford, Bohr, Tezla, and Dirac.
But also: Vigner, Minkowski, Schrodinger, Fermi, Hartree, Sternn, Gerlach, and others.

Oh my, what an old name!

PS: I remember running with Landau in The Pit when playing my first character ever. A paladin by the name of Alhandrah

Having never played an MMO, the concept of loot running was new to me. In an afternoon, I accumulated more loot than I had in the month or so I had been playing the game to that point. And I liked it. I realized my life had changed.

I only ever had one Landau, but he was a re-roll of my main once Drow was released and human was no longer a good choice for wizards.

No, we absorb you guys. You just didn't realize it. We are the masters of assimilation.

We also stole your name. We got tired of people forgetting the second h at the end of our server name.

Ah the good old days. When everyone got along. No one cared how gimped your build was. We marveled at a few truly powerful players, but they were satisfied just to help us complete a really tough quest.

JRP's original battle cleric...the first one I ever saw that really impressed me.

Too many names to remember. (I'm horrible with names anyway)
There was an Aussie who played a bard that amazed me in a Wiz king run. He kept us all from wiping time and time again.

Shuzo/Voslo....the first non RL friend I wanted in my guild. (whatever happened to him? Used to run with Snow White and her Elves)

Jasoul without a mike that Brinks thought was a girl. lol (actually, it might have been his sister originally).

Brinks, Jasoul and I three manned a lot of quests together back in the day.

Yeah, the Brazillian guys. Who's that one that had the multi-classed cleric? Talked alot. Nice guy. Made an odd build work well.

Moonshadow and her guild...doing the desert with them...nice people.

    Of course Trissa and TS.

Some people fell into the Xoriat darkside uberness, but they're still my favorite people to group with.

I had more fun back then. Wish I was better with names. But PUGing all the time means I can go months without seeing a familiar face at times.
And then there's the fact that I moonlight on other servers too.
I gave up a life of farming to become an Adventurer.

MERCS, Ophele, and Bane. All my guilds thrown out there in the first 2 posts. And you know Doc, for the right price, the MERCS guild tag could be yours.

    Did we complete Borror?

    Same for me.

First time I met him, he was still leveling his battle cleric up. I think that he was level 9 at the time and we were both looking for favor, so we tried one of the Shadow tombs. After the first tomb, he took a break. I think he had to get his kids back from school. It happened that, at the same time, I had things to deal with. When I logged and put an LFM, he just had logged on.

In the end, we knocked all four tombs on Elite back when the cap was 12.

To pull that off was surprising. To pull that off as a battle cleric even more so. to pull that off as a level 9battle cleric is just amazing.

Needless to say, the dude made it into my friend list.

We did. Somehow, we did! We got help from Tiger near the end which helped a lot.

It was also the run his barbarian got the Sword of Shadows. the other drop was a +2 Cha tome.

    Default Old days

I joined MERCS when I started, and went on to pug unsupervised under their guild tag. After a while Fixxor led a move of sorts to a guild he'd created called Hellspawn. I among others followed him there. I think it was after the merge that Hellspawn dissolved. From there our former pen and paper group picked back up the guild tag founded by Heathen Power nearly 3 years ago and filled it out with old and new friends. Since then we have been pugging and drunkenly raiding under the banner of The Bloody Toecutters. Most of our officers originated from Tharashk though few of them can be bothered to spell it properly anymore :P
Thanks for the backstory on Merc's only. had always wondered if there was some connection from way back when.
Never heard what happened to MERCS, though i still see a few of the old faces around from time to time.

AH, Dragon. OUr contribution to the hated server merge. Funny, he wasn't as bad on Tharashk. Yes Maelstrom, I remember them, and the man behind them!

I am guilty of that! As JrP often mocked me of that!

They didn't last the merger, which I was surprised. They were quite large. I remember Hellspawn too.

I also remember the Brazillians. I miss those guys! Had not a clue what they were saying half the time, but they were always good natured and fun to run with!

I remember back in March of 2006 rolling up my first toon on Tharashk a ranger before rangers were a good thing. After much trial and tribulation I decided to roll myself up a dwarven fighter. Shortly after getting started in the harbor I ran in to a toon by the name of Corwin the leader of a guild that still had that new car smell. After running with him for a day or so (I was in between jobs at the time) he asked me if I wanted to join Remember Honor. I joined up and it was the only a matter of time before I started running with guys from Amen and a few of the other top guilds as well. Lot's of great players then, man I miss the good ole days.

Most of MERCS went off to play Vanguard (or was it LoTRO or AOC??), and to my knowledge never came back.

I started in MESS, and co-led the revolt that formed GSI. Been there ever since.

Yes and a bunch of them are still in Vanguard while waiting for TOR to come out. Most of us will be meeting up there. And yes Lacca you came right around the time the guild was gutted. A few stuck around for about 6 months after but most slipped away to Bane and the Toe Cutters. Of course there was also Mutiny.

Though there was almost the remerge with GSI and MERCS not too long before Vanguard came out.

Actually I should correct that. I don't know what stage any remerge was at. It was being discussed but I had nothing to do with it.

Well since Corwins' passing on to other things and much much MUCH drama from people newer to the guild after my sebatical from game my opinion is slightly skewed from that but back in the day and for quite some time we really were top notch. I do miss it.
