Default Ok, ok, so I had this idea.

So, I'm fairly new compared to all you wisened old DDO players who could probably run the shroud while doing your laundry and/or keeping the misses happy(By that I of course mean other household chores). I've been trying to think of an interesting build for when I finally grind out that favor and get my 32 point builds(Mmm... Stats) and I thought to myself 'Hey, I sure wish I could multiclass a pally and a barb, gosh darn those alignment restrictions, then I could roll a WF and have Bladesworn transformation on while I rage, have decent saves, and lay my hands upon myself!' I looked into my career builder and realized that instead of going Pally I could go Cleric and get BS transformation, have some nice self buffs, and do quite a bit of damage!

Now what I'm wondering is that would being a WF 10/6 Barb/Pally be completely pointless and should I go shoot myself for even thinking such a thing and/or go jump in a ditch to save our children etc. etc.

Not entirely sure if I'd go TWF or THF, just trying to be creative with a build and tread on the land of multiclassing. I appreciate the input.

My apologies. It appears I made a slight error.

When I said: Now what I'm wondering is that would being a WF 10/6 Barb/Pally be completely pointless and should I go shoot myself for even thinking such a thing and/or go jump in a ditch to save our children etc. etc.

I meant to say: Now what I'm wondering is that would being a WF 10/6 Barb/Cler be completely pointless and should I go shoot myself for even thinking such a thing and/or go jump in a ditch to save our children etc. etc.

    Pardon my typo.

Any suggestions? I'm not entirely sure how I would build the character, I simply have a theory.

nvr made a wf cleric but I say go high/str/con and try to keep you wis decent you wont ever have a decent ac so I wouldnt worry about dex, turning is worthless and dvs let someone else worry about that so ignore cha to most likely just buff yourself and go to town. Wish I could help more but I have actually never multiclassed any of my Clerics the only way I really know how to play them is as a healer/caster never made a battlecleric I can kill more mobs with my bb then my weapons

I am really, really skeptical about Bladesworn Tranformation -- so much so that I've never even tried it!

Can anybody claim to have used it and found it awesome?

What's the point? You say that you want a fighter type that can buff himself, but that's not how it will work out.

A low level cleric gets (only listing the decent ones) bless, divine favor, nightshield, protection from evil, shield of faith, bull's strength, bear's endurance, resist energy, mass aid, prayer, and protection from energy. Let's break these buffs down at end game.

Bless doesn't stack with bard song, so it's out. Shield of faith doesn't stack with a +5 protection item (plus, as a barbarian you don't care about AC anyway), so it's out. Bull's strength doesn't stack with a +6 strength item, so it's out. Bear's endurance doesn't stack with a +6 con item, so it's out. Prayer doesn't stack with divine favor, so it's out. Nightshield doesn't stack with a resistance item, so unless you're willing to take cleric levels just to be immune to magic missile then it's out also.

Your list is now divine favor, protection from evil, resist energy, mass aid, and protection from energy. Let us continue.

Divine favor is based on levels, and at level 6 you will have a +2 to attack and damage. If you hadn't taken six levels of cleric you'd have a +2 higher attack anyway (because you'd have full base attack bonus), so it's only giving you +2 damage. Had you taken fourteen levels of barbarian instead of ten you'd have gotten critical rage I and II, providing for a MUCH higher average damage than +2 per hit. Divine favor is out.

At level six your resist energy will only give ten points of resistance per attack. That will not be acceptable to groups who will want the thirty points provided by level eleven and higher casters, so it will be overwritten (not to mention that it comes in potion form for rare emergencies).

The only part of mass aid that stacks with bard song is the temporary hit points. At level six you will get fourteen temporary hit points per party member each cast. As a full barbarian you'd have gotten twenty-four permanent hit points for yourself instead, which is generally better (especially since other clerics can cast mass aid anyway).

Protection from energy has the same basic issue as resist energy. At level six you'll only protect people from seventy-two points of damage whereas other casters will protect from one-hundred and ninety-two points. Your spell will be overwritten (and also comes in potion form).

So effectively you're taking six levels of cleric to get protection from evil (which most people don't even bother to cast in many situations), immunity to magic missile, and sixty seconds of something so awesome that I've never seen anyone use it before. In exchange you're doing about ten percent fewer critical hits, one strength (which should make the difference of +1 attack and +1 damage per swing), and twenty-five percent of your rage timer (which will often make the difference of being raged from one shrine to the next or not).

If that seems like a fair trade for you, then go for it. Personally, I'd suggest shooting yourself once for this build idea, and once more for playing an archer to begin with.

Hmmm, I see your point. I probably won't roll this after all. o.-

And yes, I realize that archers completely suck for DPS. But I sure did have alot of fun soloing at lower levels by kiting. :3

I appreciate the input and wish you all a nice summer.
