    Default Ranged Cleric

For fun how does this sound for a solo small group build. 17/2/1 cleric/monk/ranger. Let's see, how about elven and stats like 14/18/12/8/16/8 level ups in wisdom. Need extend max and empower. Need all the ranged goodies for many shot and ic ranged. Ce might be nice for hand to hand monk Kung fu. Oh will want to fit in improved precise shot if manageable for ranged para. I'm flying and ipoding this, so if anyone likes the idea and would flesh it out and suggest fun ideas would be happy to banter.

    It sounds bad.

The failure of that idea is that it depends on the existence of "ranged goodies", which are not actually part of DDO (even though the names of some feats and enhancements could trick you). Specializing in ranged weapons is always a mistake for a DDO character. Only rangers can make acceptable use of ranged attacking, because they get the ranged feats for free without needing to really sacrifice from their other abilities.

It's especially funny to consider the idea of a "ranged cleric" soloing something, because he's obviously going to wind up kiting mobs through BBs, and his arrows won't even be detectable on top of that DPS. (In fact, holding a bow will have cut his casting DPS)

Although I don't recommend your initial idea for reasons AD stated, here is something that may not suck.

    Human cleric 18/fighter 2

    str 10
    dex 16
    con 12
    int 8
    wis 18
    chr 8

Take fighter at 2 and 10, cleric for everything else.

    feats
    1: extend, rapid reload (human)
2: fighter: exotic: heavy repeater (req BaB +1)
6 : empower (maybe emp heal)
    9: maximize
    10: Fighter: IC ranged
12, 15, 18: choose from toughness, MT, IMT, quicken, spell penetration

Use heavy repeater at early levels for DPS and at later levels for effects and stat damage. Once you hit level 7 use divine power to get your Bab up. Early levels use divine favour and other buffs/debuffs.

The feat zen archery would help if it existed in DDO (WIS bonus to ranged attacks instead of dex).

I think you need human to get the feats you need to be decent casting cleric, but if you can live without one of the feats at 12, 15 or 18, elf, drow or halfling would help get your dex higher.

    Default Hum

Hehe, I should have refine my for fun statement to fully express what I ment. Let's see.... How about a build that is capable of running in a non traditional non optimized way and not totally gimping at the same time. Let's revisit my origional idea with acnowleding ranged combat is real soft. Pros to build....decent evasion with high 20's dex, what could develop into high ac, seventeen cleric levels with near maxed wisdom for capabile healing and moderate sp. Cons.... Gimpy refined ranged focus and falls back to even gimpier hand to hand, not high end raid attractive for healing even with level nine spells due to the strangeness of the multiclass. Ive Killed dozens and dozens of toon that were optimized but have yet to run this type of broken toon. I can certainly see this build at mid and end game geared as power gamers can gear it and played and I like what I'm seeing as far as flexability and uniqueness. He, yea iphone was ment.

The Dev's did post they are also lookign at adding the "Zen Archery" feat to DDO (lets you use your wisdom to determine range "to hit" value) as well. I would honestly wait for ranged combat to be improved and this feat to be added before rolling up this character though. =)

I Don't think I could afford nor really benifit from the feat if introduced. Figure dex for 18+2+2+6=28 vs wis 16+2+3+5+6=32 which would only be a diff of +2.

    Default Progress

Well at 7/2 cleric ranger at the moment and has been fun so far. Using curse spewing longbow of shattermantle most of the time when not healing. Will get a para at ten. Not sure I'll take the monk level, undecided. Many shot is two arrows ATM and is great for kill stealing. Heal scrolls are a 65% rate and good in complimenting wand mana healing. More updates to follow.
