    Default I hate you Brett

You know I'm at work and I'm reading this drooling. You also know I only drink on the weekends and mine doesn't start until Sunday. Why do you want to make me suffer like this bro?

Wow, you and I have very similar tastes (though mine are by choice). If it's not seltzer, it's diet coke. And when I do indulge in alcohol, it tends to be single malt.

Now you're gonna tell me you'll take yours neat, right?

Take a crystal old time glass, add rocks. Take glass to liquor cabinet and add two fingers of Dimple (tm) 12 year old Scotch. Drink.

Is there another way to drink a single malt other than neat?

    Default Depends on my mood

When I am in a wine mood I usually like pinot noir or syrah. When I am in a beer mood I try to support our local brewery, Genesee aka High Falls Brewery. They have a great cream ale that is a total joke with local kids (myself included 20 years ago!) but that I really like now that I have actually tried it. I also like the Saranac Beers of Summer and it's getting to be that season

LoL. I normally only drink on weekends but I ve been having a few during the week. Ive only posted the stuff Ive been drinking this week. In warmer months I usually stick to IPA's and Belgians with some heavier ales tossed in. Some of my favorite seasonals hit the shelves in the next month or so.

    Default Local FTW

I usually drink local brews only, occasionally a VERY good local vodka. Below are my favorites.

    Shipyard Brewing Company

    http://www.shipyard.com/

Name a beer and they make it, one of the very best craft brewers out there. They do seasonal beers as well. One of the best is their Halloween Ale, has pumpkin and spices in it.....holy refreshment Batman.

If you are ever in the New England states and are a high end Vodka fan, I strongly suggest trying Cold River Vodka. A small distillery in Maine makes it. It has a slight chocolate aftertaste with absolutely no chocolate involved...just the flavor of the local springwater used.

IMHO, it taste just as good if not better than Grey Goose for about the same price.
    Give it a look

as far as beer, gotta have a ganset. Narraganset is local to Rhode Island. It went away in the 70's but has come back with a vengeance.

Ahh did you not see the wonderful Porters and stouts Stone and Victor both brew. Stouds makes some great stouts as well But for me Porters, Stouts and Barley wines are all winter brews. Stone's last anniversery beer was an Imperial Stout brewed with bittersweet chocolate. But alas it is getting warm so I need my hops.

You should try troegs Mad Elf xmass beer. It is a belgian wheat beer brewed with Honey cherries and a spicy yeast. It tastes almost like gingerbread cookies in a liquid form. And at 11.0 alc its a major stealth beer.

Yes there is! I prefer it neat as well, but there are well respected schools of thought that consider adding a few drops of water will bring out the flavors of the scotch, especially in the case of barrel proof whiskeys. A single ice-cube is also well regarded, however, rather than a cube, I prefer a cuban with mine.

Now THIS sounds like something right up my alley Where, geographically speaking, is the brewery located? Are the tasty beverages available outside of the general metropolitan area/state?

    Thanks in advance.
