I know and that scares me. It seems like a waste to me. They would be better off using a later round pick on a Rhett Bomar, Stephen McGee, or John Parker Wilson. Maybe McDaniels can work them into the Pat's system. A QB won't come in and make an immediate impact like a NT or LB. Hell, the Broncos are even looking at Losman. I'd rather give him a shot, or grab Campbell after the Redskins get Sanchez.
Broncos QBs:
Chris Simms, absolute dud. Was a dud at UT, and was extremely fortunate with the minimal success he had at Tampa Bay.
Kyle Orton, actually a decent QB that can manage this system well as he did so at Purdue.
absolutely pick up a QB late, get Oher or Ayers for the line and find a decent linebacker. Denver has great corners, but no one else worth mentioning prior to Dawkins coming over.
7-9 next season is my guess for them.

You're a Tech grad? Me too! Wreck 'em!
I don't think Crab is at all egocentric..and he doesn't really come off that way. IMO, he's coming off very confident, but still pretty humble. I'm just a bit worried about this entourage that he apparently has with him. It's only going to hurt him.

Disagree...I think he did all he could at Tech. I would've LOVED to seen him stay, but for what purpose? Our best chance at anything great was LAST year and we did a hell of a job (excluding OU and the CB). I keep hearing the Jags will take him. I don't really care all that much, as I'm not that big of an NFL fan, although I do keep up with ex-Tech players. I'm more into the college game myself. This will do wonders for our recruting efforts at Tech.

I am watching the draft for 2 reasons this year. One reason is to see who the Giants get (hopefully Nicks or Heywood-Bey) The other reason is to watch who gets Curry. Not only is he a great athlete, but a great person. Here is a good article that maybe some don't know about:
http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/04/21/a...-to-nfl-draft/
Aaron made us proud to be a Demon Deacons, now make us proud this next step! Oh wait, you already have.
Yeah they are all saying Jags now at 8 taking Crabtree. Trouble is, with Sanchez, Jets or Redskins are going to be trading up and that removes the Jags from 8th.
My gut feelings, Browns draft Crabtree. Dallas will take Darcel McBath in 3rd round. Look for either NE or Chiefs to take shot at Harrel in 6 or 7th as both don't need him to come in immediately and he can work on the fundamentals of dropping back from under center.
Flex is right, he needs to have immediate impact for it to be great for recruiting. Tech has got to get rid of the stigma as a system only school. Let's face it, every college runs a system, some just happen to use under center more than others.
Intriguing pick this year will be Pat White.
When do the Titans finally tell VY "be a receiver or find another team".

Browns are shopping Quinn and Edwards. I think if they get a super offer on either one they will do it. I just don't see Sanchez as much of an upgrade over Quinn to justify taking him at 5. Don't get me wrong I don't think Quinn is the second coming of Peyton Manning or anything, but I think he could be a serviceable QB.

only reason we have the browns is the NFL felt bad about Art Model taking them to Baltimore.
at least they aren't the Lions

Mel Kiper from ESPN releases latest mock draft:
my comments in red.
1. Detroit Lions: Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia
Honestly believe they should take Jason Smith
2. St. Louis Rams: Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
solid pick, either top tackles.
3. Kansas City Chiefs: Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU
first time showing them not going with Curry. Controlling line of scrimmage is cruicial in that division.
4. Seattle Seahawks: Mark Sanchez, QB, USC
Think this is bit of a reach with Curry on the board. Yes Hasselback is getting old, but Curry is a no brainer.
5. Cleveland Browns: Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest
you know what they say, sun shines on a dog's....... could they get luckier, other than trading Quinn and Edwards and get more picks this year.
6. Cincinnati Bengals: Andre Smith, OT, Alabama
Need to trade down get more picks, team is a disgrace
7. Oakland Raiders: Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia
Can the coach override Davis's love for speedy wide receivers?
8. Jacksonville Jaguars: Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech
absolute need, Garrard will thank the front office.
9. Green Bay Packers: B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College
good pick
10. San Francisco 49ers: Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri
second luckiest draft pick. since TO left they have not had a receiver.
11. Buffalo Bills: Brian Orakpo, DE/OLB, Texas
doens't matter who they pick this team will self destruct anyways and have TO.
12. Denver Broncos: Robert Ayers, DE, Tennessee
Could they really do the right thing?
13. Washington Redskins: Brian Cushing, OLB, USC
best player available theory?
14. New Orleans Saints: Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State
one can hope they get help in that secondary.
15. Houston Texans: Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State
Think safety or second corner is higher need.
16. San Diego Chargers: Michael Oher, OT, Mississippi
wouldn't corner be higher priority?
17. New York Jets: Percy Harvin, WR, Florida
another Reggie Bush fizzle, Jets waste a pick
18. Denver Broncos (from CHI): Chris "Beanie" Wells, RB, Ohio State
with 8 RBs that saw time last year, defense still main issue.
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas State
really don't see what anyone sees in Freeman, believe this is a reach and definitely a 3 year development program.
20. Detroit Lions (from DAL): Rey Maualuga, ILB, USC
solid pick, though still need OT
21. Philadelphia Eagles: Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia
is he tough enough to pick up 1 yard at the goal line?
22. Minnesota Vikings: Kenny Britt, WR, Rutgers
decent pick, other needs with higher priority.
23. New England Patriots: Donald Brown, RB, Connecticut
strongly disagree with this pick with Vontae Davis and some other top defensive players still available.
24. Atlanta Falcons: Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois
lucked out by NE not selecting him.
25. Miami Dolphins: Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland
Defense Miami, your unit is old.
26. Baltimore Ravens: Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State
Todd Heap has been a no show past 2 years, and injury prone.
27. Indianapolis Colts: Peria Jerry, DT, Mississippi
Replacement for Harrison needed here.
28. Buffalo Bills (from PHI, which received from CAR): Phil Loadholt, OT, Oklahoma
mrh
29. New York Giants: Clay Matthews, OLB, USC
wide receiver help?
30. Tennessee Titans: Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut
wide receiver help? or they finally making Vince Young play a position he can do something with.
31. Arizona Cardinals: Everette Brown, DE, Florida State
decent.
32. Pittsburgh Steelers: Max Unger, C, Oregon
o-line is definitely getting old.

Eagles.. Knowshon Moreno all the way or trade the pick for Anaquan Bolden and get a weapon for McNabb. Moreno would help lessen Westbrook's load and be a future replacement when Westbrook retires.

As a longtime Pats fan its hard not to cheer for McDaniels in some respect. I am honestly glad they dumped Culter. I think Ortan will handle the pats style system just fine. I see them going at least 9-7. The I dont see the addition of TG to the Falcons as making them SB contenders off one addition. Granted the NFC still isnt that strong of a confrence. But remember what was said about Dallas last year and how they ended up. I see the AFC being just as nasty as always with the Pats and Tom Brady healthy yet again. It will be nice to see how the draft shapes up and how preseason shapes up.
Sweet, a chance to play GM for the local team, the Seattle Seahawks.
In my perfect draft scenario, it would come together like this:
NYJ, desperate for a shot at Sanchez, offer up a 1, 2 and 5 to move up to pick #4 and grab him. Once on the table, Seattle makes a call to Dumass Dan (Snyder for all your Redskins fans out there) and gets him to pony both his first round picks to grab Sanchez out from under the Jets. Might have to throw in a bone to Wash to make this happen, say a 4th.
Seattle then offers up their 2 (#37 overall) and a 5 plus Deion Branch to the Cardinals for Anquan Boldin as Arizona is rumored to be willing to give him up now for a 2 plus extras.
With the 13th and 16th picks, Seattle first takes the best OL left on the board and then selects Knowshon Moreno with the 2nd of their recently acquired picks.
I do not see Seattle making a selection at #4 and there seems alot of interest from several teams to grab this selection for Sanchez which leaves them in a favorable position.
I've met and chatted with both Dave Arneson and Gary Gygax. To both of you, I raise a glass in toast and say THANK YOU!

I am kinda wondering who the Lions are going to pick. I am a little worried that they are going to pull another Joey Herrington and grab another failed Quarterback.
I really wish they would pick Curry 1st overal-I think he would fill a much bigger hole (as our Defense was rated last in the NFL)
