What you describe is a solid gamer - someone who strives to improve at the game they're playing (playskills, strategies, builds, equipment, etc). Someone that, given sufficient time (dependent on the game), will in all likelihood be an above-average player.

A "solid melee-oriented character on Khyber" is similar, but with much smaller scope. I think one of the best ways to describe it is when you have an LFM up for a somewhat shaky group and person X applies. If you do a little silent "oh hell yeah" to yourself, knowing that your group went from shaky to solid, well, you might just be a redneck.

Anyway, we seem to dissagree on what makes a "Solid Melee Oriented Character". That's cool, I don't expect everyone to agree with my criteria, and according to your list no one is forced to justify their internal criteria - all votes are treated as subjectively equal. Correct?

Any and all melee oriented characters made by any player on Khyber.

With the exception of myself or any of my characters that are melee-classed as I want no part of any such listing. Now, if I can only get 2 or 3 people to comfirm my list.....

Well, I meant something different than "liking" the applicant, but I don't think I can express it any more clearly. What you describe sounds like "oh cool, I like this guy", not "oh cool, our team just got a lot better".

I think people make a team a lot better for all sorts of reasons, because they bring the mood of the party up through their humour and demeanor, because they know the quest exceptionally well, because they are particularly good at leading, because they want to succeed, because they are skillful at playing their character, any or all of these reasons.

(1) Your "40 solid melee characters" list has a way of discerning who gets on it and who does not using these subjective votes, what is it?

(2) According to your list I can vote for as many people as I want for whatever reason I think they belong there. Lets say I wanted to put one vote each for:
Everyone who enjoys playing their Melee oriented character so much that they actively try to develop that characters role to be better;
and where it doesn't overlap, one vote each for:
Every active melee oriented character that has made it to level 15 and beyond.

I think all of these people deserve credit for being solid melee oriented characters, but I cannot possibly be expected to name them all, because I don't know them all. Why can't I nominate them for your list?

How can you know they're solid if you can't even name them. You can't possibly nominate people you haven't run with or have not in some way made a good enough impression for you to remember their name.
