Okay, so we keep trying to do top 20 lists and all that, which don't usually work out too well. So let's try something new.

Rules:

1. "Melee" is open-ended. From the intimitank to the tempest to the survivalist to the specialist to the generalist... they all count in their own way.
2. To make the list, a player/character must be nominated by one person and confirmed by two others
3. Any poster may nominate and/or confirm any number of player/characters
4. Nominated player/characters must be currently active (playing DDO)
5. A player may not nominate or confirm him/herself
6. Feel free to include a story or something about the player/character
7. Confirmed nominations will be listed in alphabetical order

One criteria for a solid melee should also be people who push to do elite content first and to do it consistently asap. On these elite content runs they have to be good at taking pressure of healers because they do their jobs so well (killing, damage mitigation, utility, etc.). Alot of the people on these lists you have strakeln don't push to do elite content first. Now some of the people on these lists do push to do it first and consistently do quests on elite rather then quests on normal and those people are more worthy for sure of being on any top 40 list.

In the end a real top 40 list which would mostly consist of the top powergaming guilds (about 7-8 guilds on Khyber) has more real value. The reason these guilds have most of the best melee is they attract and recruit the best players, push their players to be better (do quests on elite), and the players have the best gear (they are powergamers).

If this is purely an inane shout-out-to-my-melee-buddies thread, pray tell why is it useful to limit it to 40 places via a vote?
I dare say you had more in mind than than giving the community a feature they already had because you added a voting system and upper limit to it. That sounds just like a top 40 popularity contest! And why would anyone want to make a popularity contest? (Bonus question 50 insight points!)

And it seems that most people only nominate thus that are in their small social circle, after all, who else would you/could you nominate anyway? Thus you'll only end up seeing the friends of the local forum trolls popping up ^^.

No it doesn't, apparently this list is

completely subjective

according to the OP; he went to some pains to point that grammatical detail out to me. "Completely" is the qualifier for subjective he said, so one can assume he must have felt strongly about it.

Are you saying that you base your opinions of players whom you don't know on the subjectivity of this list, before you even invite them to party? That would mean that this thread exists to rate players, and not just give them a kind shout-out. This is the mentality that this sort of thread concept spawns. If you doubt the mind set of those that want to be part of this list, just have a quick scroll through it and have a look at what they are saying.

One other note: I would like to nominate For honorable mention Dane and his Vorpal!!!! battleaxe of doom!!!! Sadly he has passed on to the void that is NYC and is not with us in game anymore.

One other other note: I saw affro nominated Paraya.....Thanks bro but we can't count my paraya build here. It is too bardish and no one ever wants his bard/barb/rog backside in any party. Plus you just call him papaya anyway.
