Second for Arkat, good player and a good monk build definitely one of the more effective monks out there. I like Goobag too, lol, but can really only nominate one of your toons.

One criteria for a solid melee should also be people who push to do elite content first and to do it consistently asap. On these elite content runs they have to be good at taking pressure of healers because they do their jobs so well (killing, damage mitigation, utility, etc.). Alot of the people on these lists you have strakeln don't push to do elite content first. Now some of the people on these lists do push to do it first and consistently do quests on elite rather then quests on normal and those people are more worthy for sure of being on any top 40 list.

In the end a real top 40 list which would mostly consist of the top powergaming guilds (about 7-8 guilds on Khyber) has more real value. The reason these guilds have most of the best melee is they attract and recruit the best players, push their players to be better (do quests on elite), and the players have the best gear (they are powergamers).

So your objective is to give the community a thread for giving credit to the first 40 melees they like. That's insightful, thanks for pointing out the obvious. Now see if you are capable of further insight:

    (First question 10 insight points)
If this is purely an inane shout-out-to-my-melee-buddies thread, pray tell why is it useful to limit it to 40 places via a vote?
I dare say you had more in mind than than giving the community a feature they already had because you added a voting system and upper limit to it. That sounds just like a top 40 popularity contest! And why would anyone want to make a popularity contest? (Bonus question 50 insight points!)

One thing it does is let people who may not run with some of these people know that they are good melees. There are a few on these lists I have not run with, and who have not run with me. I run strictly in the morning and early afternoon EST so I play with off peak gamers, and crazy australians on late night DDO benders. It is nice to look at this list if I am actually on at night and get a chance to play and know the person joining my group is not a gimp.

people who frequent the forums is a small subset of the population, I know i'm frequently telling my guildies about the latest dev info. And it seems that most people only nominate thus that are in their small social circle, after all, who else would you/could you nominate anyway? Thus you'll only end up seeing the friends of the local forum trolls popping up ^^.

wouldve nominated Clean, but on break, same for shagn and rollin

my two nominations would be Roxie and Everything

No it doesn't, apparently this list is

Are you saying that you base your opinions of players whom you don't know on the subjectivity of this list, before you even invite them to party? That would mean that this thread exists to rate players, and not just give them a kind shout-out. This is the mentality that this sort of thread concept spawns. If you doubt the mind set of those that want to be part of this list, just have a quick scroll through it and have a look at what they are saying.

My grief is not with you or this thread, feel free to post whatever you please Khyber forum community. My grief is that this thread is not about what the OP claims it is. He has made a first-40 list which he claims is superior its top-20 predecessors, yet serves exactly the same purpose because of its limitations and format. I find it amusingly strange that he was pretentious enough to post it and make these claims, and that he continually tries to defend it in the face of its own self-contradiction.

Also you get no insight-points because you didn't answer either of my questions.

Making things up now, are we? Please show me where I make such a claim. You will find I have not, that you took something I said and twisted it into my claiming this list to be superior to any other.

You obviously have an axe to grind, Kahoun, and I can't imagine something so stupid as this thread has gotten you so stirred up. So man up and come out with it... what's bothering you so much?

Are you really this upset about a thread that amounts to "list of 40 people who had three others say they play a fifth-string MMO 'purty gud'?"

Ohhhhhh, I see. You're the guy that was all torq'd up at Vorpalsword, and now you're ticked at me because I didn't have anything bad to say about him. Well that makes more sense now... was wondering why someone I didn't know would have such an issue with me.

As I have learned from multiple experiences, hotheads of your origin are a special breed. Similar to most hotheads, they get ticked off at the slightest of things... but your version never, ever, ever, ever lets it go. So I suppose I can expect to see you following me about the forums now, trying to start stuff on every corner, right? Awesome.

    nominate:

    Assultrifle
    henrydr

    Confirm:
    Riott

One other note: I would like to nominate For honorable mention Dane and his Vorpal!!!! battleaxe of doom!!!! Sadly he has passed on to the void that is NYC and is not with us in game anymore.

One other other note: I saw affro nominated Paraya.....Thanks bro but we can't count my paraya build here. It is too bardish and no one ever wants his bard/barb/rog backside in any party. Plus you just call him papaya anyway.
