Pure Monk Items?

I'm building my first monk and wondering what kind of gear I should have. Basically I'm going pure monk in the wind stance. I'm lawful good and am NOT taking ANY UMD also halfling if that matters. My goal is to be able to hit things and be hit the least as I can get.

Just wondering what you guys consider good stuff for each body slot. I would prefer if raid items be kept out of it, but considering some non-raid items are even harder to find I'll take any suggestions. Just wondering what you guys think should be on a well equiped monk.

At low levels you will want to get the waterworks AC+4 bracers as soon as you can - keep running the quest until you have that. Carry mage armor pots until you get that. Consider carrying barkskin pots as well as cat's grace and owl's wisdom - those can boost your AC by 2 each.

At higher levels you might want to consider a Chaosguard - since you can get AC+6 robes from many of the high level quests. Chaosguard drops from xorian cipher.

Of course you will want to get high DEX, CON, STR, WIS items so you can boost your many primary stats. That will probably end up using 4 slots. You don't need disease or poison immunity which is great since it saves slots. You'll want heavy fortification and greater false life too. Striding is nice but if you're a pure monk then you run pretty fast already. You'll want a resistance item (+4 rings and cloaks are easily available on the AH) and a protection item (until you get the icy raiment).

weapons:

decide if you're going kama, qstaff or handwraps (or a mix) and start scouting the AH for the items. If you're a stunning blow build then consider getting bursting wraps (e.g. +5 shocking burst) - otherwise just go for Holy at the highest + you can find.

Rarer items:

Named items you'll probably want to look out for include:

- Higher AC bracers - you can get AC+7 off the auction house pretty easily now
- Belt of thoughtful rememberance: con+5 and concentration+13 (and neg absorption). This drops from the golem quest in the necropolis
- Minos Legens helm - nice to get some extra HP and heavy fort in one item - farm tapestries from the orchard of the macabre or buy them off the AH
- Icy Raiment from the Subterreane - at higher levels you will often find groups of 12 people 'farming' this from the chest - it doesn't take long to get it.

Elite items

Yes I know you said not raid loot but I'm listing them anyway

- Chattering ring - AC+3 helps but it's hard to get
- Titan belt - combine GFL with Str+6

Concentrate on maximising your slot use, with 4 primary stats it's going to be hard - items with double benefit e.g. Electric Haze, Titan Belt are especially useful.
