Franziskaner is my favorite as well. No idea why it's so good.

Wait... is this the right forum?

I have heard that mentioned before. I'll have to add that to the list to try it.

no fruit in any of my beer.

    and guinness??? puh leeeeess

you got ur t-shirt bottle opener and hat to go with it while ur drinking it too?

In my opinion guinness gives other stout beer a bad name because of its "fad" or "pop" status. It's OKAY and that is all. And that big freaking head that you bar rats like to put dimes on has nothing to do with the beer and more of how it is gassed at serving.

however guinness foreign extra stout is what i consider to be the companys crowning beer because its local taste that differs slightly in whatever country you find it in can add complexities of taste that are very different from what most people expect from guinness.

I was at that site yesterday I was reading reviews of the beer I wrote the original post about. They gave it at best a B- but other sites voted it better.

As far as stouts go guiness is ... well ... kinda weak-sauce. It is the budweiser of dark beers. Smithwicks would be my preferred Irish beer.

try an get ahold of this one...

Cool, I'll be drinking it tomorrow night. I have finish up this 6 pack of http://www.leinie.com/av.html. I also want to try some of the Celtic versions of Wheat beer. I have heard they are very good as well.

Not much of a stout guy, although the local Irish pub I frequent on occasion is a Murphy's Irish Stout place.

My favorite Hefeweizens are probably, Weiheinstephaner, Paulaner, Erdinger, and Franziskaner.

Erdinger makes a nice light wheat beer. I prefer my home grown canadian beer to most imports, both euro and u.s. Creemore Springs is a microbrewery that makes the best beer I've ever tasted. No additives or preservatives and delivered weekly (to the beer store, not my house )
German and Belgium beer are second and third on the list. as soon as the u.s. makes a good beer, I'll try it.

I am quite the fan of vodka myself but actually strayed away from it due to the pretention that was forming around it. It may be a regional thing but around here vodka snobs were becoming as bad if not worse than scotch/whiskey snobs. *shrug*

Luckily I never run into gin snobbery/pretention so it remains tops for me (Rogue distillery spruce gin = favorite currently)

Starting to think that maybe, just maybe, I drink too much... OR not enough as I seem to remember enough to form opinions
