    Default Paladin vs Bard fight!

Tomorrow, our guild is making a super battle of the gimps PvP event:
A full team of 6 bards vs a full team of 6 paladins.

    Who will win?
The hasted and inspired self-healing bards with their crowd control, or will the self-healing Paladins' awesome saves allow them to resist everything and out-live the bards in the long run?

I'm curious about what you guys think!
    Who would you bet on?

(no particular specced, just grabbing 6 bards and 6 paladins)

    I bet the bards.

Bards for sure, unfortunately even if I end up on the pali team, this will probably be the case

Before there was an actual chance to save from fascinate.... I had a Deathmatch PvP desert duel and the Battle-Bard would fascinate my Paladin and try to hit me.......unsuccessfully (67 AC) and I just had to wait until the song ended and wack the banjo-boy.....of course he got smart and kept refreshing his tune...and we got to a stalemate....

Now there´s a chance to save from fascinate and I have 2 extra AC thanks to Eldritch upgrades....

Hmm, a paladin's amazing Will save of probably around +30 max versus a bard's insane Fascinate DC that could easily be in the 49-68 DC range. About six seconds into the match, it becomes one paladin versus 6 bards at a time. I'd put my money on the bards as well.

Once those bards start making you irresistably dance the entire time it will only be a matter of time before the faithful fall.

There are only a few Pally builds that can stand up to a team of Bards, especially if the Bard team has a Warchanter or two.

bards will win simply because they get to use all their spells and songs. as for pallys, its a no show as thier most damaging skill do not apply to the bard. exalted smite and divine grace works on evil.... no evil players

You don't have to be right within melee range to be Fascinated.

With their saves, and the SR 19-22 easily available, i dont think bard spells will do much, as most bard dont spec for high CC HD anyways.
The songs will be the problem i think.

First off, putting bards in the "gimp fight" is quite hilarious. A bard with quicken, healing enhancements, heavy fortification, and the appropriate spells is going to be able to stand right in front of a paladin and outheal their damage while spamming hold monster until they roll a 1. Then its puncturing or whoo-whoo stick till your dead.

Bards will also have cometfall, enervation (hope you brought your SR item), and several arcane damaging spells available to them via wands and scrolls.

And all that isn't even considering fascinate.

The real question is who won't bards beat.

I think pallys would win just because a bards have no HP no ac just songs and spells if they facinate u fine just wait till the facinate runs out none of the bard spells are going to get through the high saves my pally has a 66 ac even if I were to roll a 1 on dance they would still have a hard time hitting me. If it's in the lobster ofcourse bards are favored but if in an arena it's an even match just gotta be smart pallys running around and pick on 1 bard at a time LOL I wish I was there!!!

SR 19-22 is pretty much a joke for any CC bard, since they'll have at least a +18 to Spell Penetration.(+16 base +2 item) If they have a Spell Pen feat, they would automatically beat anything below a SR 22. Even the highest saves won't help against Otto's Irresistible Dance. Once the paladin is dancing, it is just a matter of how the bards want to kill him. A CC-specced bard could easily have a DC of 10(base) + 6(Spell level) + 12(Charisma) + 2(Spell focus and Greater Spell Focus) + 2(Dreamspitter) + 1(Spellsinger song) = 33 DC. While most paladins are going to have high saves, I think that most will fail on more than just a 1 against that.

A good caster will always win. Too much power to handle.

Paladins will aslo have heavy fort. Doesn't that stop puncturing?
Also, the Sp is not infinit, nor are songs...

You obviously play with some pretty poorly made Bards.
