Rapier of banishing is in a class by itself as banishing is a crit effect and the only weapon with base 18-20 crit range with banishing effect is rapiers, as opposed to the less valuable smiting rpaier as it also comes on falchion,scims and kukris. You can easily get 15-20 million gold for it or a very nice trade item. Only rapier or weapon to me superior to Banishing rapier is the vaunted WOP rapier.

It's top-notch, but 15 million gold? It must be the rarity factor, because for that kind of money, there's a LOT of other gear I'd benefit from more. If Melkor is to be trusted (and I can see no reason why he shouldn't be), that pricing is being determined by people who are running out of improvements to spend their money on.

15 million gold is quite reasonable imo. (Assuming that +2 tomes are around half the price)
Especially after the Vale quests arrived, top banishing weapons (rapiers, repeaters) make the quest simply too easy.
But.. I wouldn't sell it for plats if I were you.
You will make 15 mil again before you can loot another weapon of that worth. Rarity is like that.

Banishers in and of themselves arent that rare, however to find it on the best weapon possible for that particular effect it is very rare, for that same reason WOP rapiers are so rare and hence so expensive. I would tend to agree with you that the players that freely pay 15-20 million for an item on AH usually have many nice items and raid loot on ther characters but some items are hard to come by. To me WOP rapiers are top of the food chain since they effect so many different mobs, and Banishing rapier is 2nd most rare BUT isnt my 2nd most sought after weapon effect. Main reason is there is no save vs WOP effect and there is a save vs Banishing which severly diminishes its effect and hence worth on high lvl elite mobs. In game when I get tells to see what items I have to trade the one weapon thats asked for 90% of the time is WOP rapier, the 2nd Bansihing rapier and 3rd is smiting rapier... hardly ever does anyone ask about any other weapons, ok once in a while about Khops for lowbies.

Excellent Point, you can accumulate 10 million PLAT easily b4 you ever get a WOP or Banishing rapier. 15 mill gold is well well worth the price of admission. BTW your a pretty good caster, I grouped with Consilience b4 and he was very effient and effective unlike 95% of the other casters I see.

I traded my tome pages 1, 7, 7 to get a +1 banishing rapier and +2 ghost touch LS of disruption the day before tranfering servers

I'm kinda spoiled now since I've started to play my DPS sorc though. Sorcerers are pretty hot

When I get back to my Wizzy, first I depressed on his low casting speed (even with Quicken), and then impressed on how many spells he can handle at a time It's really good to own 2 types of casters isn't it?

I'm investing to my sorcerer though, since she has more potential (melee capability, barbarian speed).
Tons of raid items are waiting for her. (Um... or the other way lol)
