Default Difference between Dimension Door and Recall?

Someone mind giving me a little feedback on how these 2 differ from eachother. Reading the spell description of Dimension Door makes it sound like it mimics the Recall ability given in dungeons.

I must be missing something then, because I can't see the purpose of a spell that functions like a built-in option available to everyone in the game.

Recall pulls you out of the dungeon (outside the entrance). D Door takes you back to the beginning of the quest (inside the dungeon).

You are correct- they are similar, and many times you can simply recall instead of using DD. However, DD has 3 concrete benefits:
    1. Faster- if monsters are hitting you right now, you can still use a DD. There is no delay time like with recalling, so it can be an emergency escape from danger.
    2. Preserved Buffs- if you recall and reenter a quest, all your buff spells are gone. With DD, you stay inside the quest, so they stay on.
    3. Preserved Keys- If the quest involves keys, tablets, seals, sigils, or other special items, recalling out would either drop it on the floor, or destroy it. DD will get you to the entrance door with all those items still with you.

For example, in Twlight Forge there are only 6 green keys total. They cannot be traded. Usually someone will want to escape a locked room. Recalling would destroy the key, but DD lets you keep it.
