I'm tossing some ideas around in my head here and am considering building one of these. Just have some feat questions. How many feats would that build get? Bards can take empower healing correct? What level should I take bard to optimize my UMD?

For UMD I would think you want to take Bard at level 1 so you could keep it at your level.
Feats well wizard bonus feats are 1st, 5, 10, 15.
So you get all the standard feats plus the above wizard bonus feats.
1-Bard
2 thru 16-Wizard
1-Empower Healing
2-(WB) Maximize
3-Least Mark of Healing
6-Lesser Mark of Healing
6-(WB) Empower
9-Greater Mark of Healing
11-(WB)
12-
15-
16-(WB)
That gives you maximum dragon mark healing power at the earliest. The rest depend on what kind of wizzy you want to make.
I have this exact build. He's at lvl 4 at the moment. The going is tough early on as it is with any squish caster, but I think at 6 it will be a whole lot of fun.
About as close to a "Mystic Theurge" as you can get in DDO I think.
is yours dragonmarked? also would i gain any bard spells? looks like 13 wizard still has more than my sorc and enough for all the goodies to fit so im coolitll be an obscene amount after playing a sorc for so long
could i get a list of spells not available on scrolls from vendors that ill need to take when i level up? anyone know them off hand or can link me?
yeah the whole point is to go dragonmarked, enhanced heal, maximize, empower. put all of those on and even teh cure lights do ok. I think by lvl 14 with all dragonmark enhancements you get 5 full heals/rest (plus moer of the lowers). plus they launch faster than cleric's full heals.
the bard at lvl 1 for UMD, + wands. the songs and fascinate are a nice bonus =).
as for bard spells, I think you just get the 1 lvl 1 bard spell. I took cure light, again focusing on the healing. If I pick up heighten, I may trade that out for something else, maybe that self-only bard buff that gives you +1 to everything.
if you search there is a thread on this that had at least a full page of discussion. someone posted their build that they capped and they were very very happy with it. it got me thinking and thats why i started mine. I just haven't played him too much ....
oh - and I dont know about what spells cannot be found on scrolls. I thought you could get most everything on a scroll, no? the only ones you can't buy are certain symbols, Ddoor, firewall ... hmm thats bout it I think, right?
From the release notes, here is the complete(?) list
As part of the rebalancing of spells/spell points the following spells will no longer be sold in shops in and around Stormreach. Wizards interested in learning these spells should select them while leveling up. The removed spells will still drop as treasure and at a higher rate than previously.
Otto’s Sphere of Dancing (in that it was never added)
Cloudkill
Acid Fog
Wall of Fire
Blade Barrier - Cleric
Glyph of Warding - Cleric
Greater Glyph of Warding - Cleric
Symbol of Flame
Symbol of Pain
Symbol of Weakness
Delayed Blast Fireball
Symbol of Fear
Symbol of Persuasion
Dimension Door
Solid Fog
you dont need empower healing spell the empower spell works on healing spells fyi
I have a drow, currently 9 Wiz/1 Bard (posted the build here some time ago). I recommend taking Focusing Chant as your Bard spell rather than Cure Light, it's great if you need that 1 more to umd (or haggle when selling) or whatever skill you may need a point for. It lasts 2 minutes extended, I use it quite often really...
Yes, empower + maximize + empower healing all stack on the least and lesser marks making them quite useful. For the greater mark only empower healing affects it in terms of metamagics. Devotion items/enhancements also apply normally. They essentially behave exactly like a cleric would cast it, all the same stacking rules apply.
however, no empower healing
why? as a squishy halfling (i think 61 hitpoints at level 6), my dm's of healing are for me & are plenty to heal me
i only use them on a party member when the party is either small or to get an incapped player up
i believe that empower healing on this build is overkill
now, if you were a dm'ed halfling fighter then it might make more sense because you would have more hitpoints than a wizard
you are not a cleric or a bard with this build, you a wizard who can heal himself if necessary & save some money on potions

i have 55 hp at lvl 3 on mine and that big barbarian with 600 hp will like empower healing. Especially when the cap goes up it will be better and better. I watched this build last night heal me as I tanked the black dragon and the giant and while he did that raise the cleric who raised the other 3 people.
the barbarian gets healed by the real halfling healer, i.e., a halfling sidekick cleric
people crack me up when they try to do everything with some builds
the only reason to really play a halfling right now as a wizard is for the dm's to self-heal & maybe for some extra dex & good saves
if you want to heal 600 hitpoint barbarians, i have a great idea, i.e., go roll a halfling cleric & you will be able to heal better than this build ever will but you will also have some good damage spells such as blade barrier and slay living
I have a capped dragonmarked halfling wiz, empower healing is a waste, just leave maximize on and you'll be dropping heals for 190ish on non-crits. Just picked up the reaver gloves and my crit heals are obnoxious.

FYI, the increase is likely from Potency item. Maximize does not affect Heal spell or Greater Mark of Healing. But, agreed that Empower Healing is a waste. Max/Empower for Least and Lesser Marks, Potency for Greater Mark.
Also, splash of 1Cleric can use a Raise Dead scroll on a 16 or better (25% chance). I like this build, too.![]()
Hmmm. maybe i should try turning maximize off sometimes to see the difference
In all honesty though, i use the heals as damage from time to time on undead. Maximize is supposed to double damage spells. Why the discrepancy i wonder.
