    Default Protest! a sad day

The dwarven defenders hosted a player event this past saturday evening, which had been advertised on the forums here for quite some time. I logged in this afternoon to some disheartening news. Soilent, kingzero here o the forums, was given a Four Day ban for 'spamming general chat in house P' as he was Hosting The Player Event.

I believe the dev's owe this man an apology, written and much heartfelt here in the forums. and a month of free service, At Least. This is a tragic turn of things, and a sad day for the game. Poor form, poor show. Sad news.

Surely the GMs would of listened to his plea and the chat message before giving the infractions.. Was someone not interested complaining, and he refused to stop? In a case where he was asked to stop and he continued, then he may have deserved the points, even if he had posted it and it was a open comunity event.. Lord knows sometimes when a GM hosted event goes live and I'm spamed with red GM text in the middle of a quest or involved discussion with someone else, I'd like to ban them.. Anyway exspect this thread to get deleted cause its talking about disiplinary actions.. Keep in mind I'm not defending anyones positions or actions just adding speculation as to what could of happened..

We finished the event without incident or complaint, other than one person sending a tell that we shouldn't have the event listed in the LFM. This morning he has an email telling him he's banned for spamming general chat.

    Sad days.

Is not the "grouping" tab under the "social" for looking for more people? If you ask me, an LFM is the perfect place for something like this because some times you are looking for more people to join in the event.

I had a character running around House P during part of that event, and the amount of chatter spilling out from the stage didn't seem excessive. The green text was actually kind of intriguing. I hope they rescind the ban for this, and make it more clear both to players and GMs what the rules governing player-run events should be, so this sort of issue can be avoided without discouraging player-run events altogether.

That is ridiculous... another undeserved ban on Turbines part. Wats next banning people for being good players.. O wait they already did that!

Well seeing as i deposited items to this event i demand that all my items be re-imbursed BY TURBINE. i hold none of DD responsible. So i'll be checking my mail. Thanks!

We probably won't see a response from Turbine on this, so could DD please keep us informed?

Hopefully a senior GM will review the case and do what needs to be done.

    Ummmm...

Last weekend the MAG(?) had an event on Khyber in House P.

Had an add up in LFM.

Didn't hear of anyone getting banned.

The worst part is not the ban itself, but the person who reported it. The gms don't just show up like that to see if people are spamming the general chat, if an action was taken, it's because someone reported it, and why it was reported, we can speculate all day long on that, just one thing, shame on that person.

Maybe he was reported because he was spamming?

No on your server, but theres always another side to the story. Bans arent handed out based solely on someons report. a GM generally asked the offender to stop. If they dont, they are asked again.... THey are not given a ban until the third warning.

I've seen the process accelerated when the person asked to stop said some not so nice things to the GM as well....

i was a host and judge of the event, we were as tasteful as possible and we specifically used different color chat so that people could differentiate our words from everyone else. I heard no complaints from anyone and fun seemed to have been had by all, heck we gave alot of stuff out to alot of people. We were talking about having another event soon, but if this sort of thing is going to happen maybe we won't do anymore at all.

Well, in this case the people running the event did at least once ask participants to send them tells rather than shouting out answers to trivia questions in general chat, so there was some attempt by the organizers to keep down spam in general. A ban for someone who was trying to maintain a fun and respectful atmosphere seems excessive.

    Default Bring Soilent Back!

Hello all, I know that I do not typically post in the forums but reading what I just read I cannot stay silent. An event, that was placed in DDO's forum calendar - therefore giving the Dwarven Defenders approval for the player held event - was horribly screwed with by the GM's of DDO Godhood. This is just another example of politics getting in the way of progress, making the future of DDO less certain as time goes by. Dedicated players like Soilent, the host of the event, should not have been punished for trying to make the game more enjoyable for its players.

I propose that we all get together one day and all of us spam general chat in House P. In different colors shouting nothing but our support for Soilent. They can't ban us all without losing their business!
