Lightbulb Building a Dedicated Role-playing Group on Thelanis for Mondays

Building a Dedicated Role-playing Group on Thelanis for Mondays

The Team has started playing - check out the links below to see the main Team Thread and the guild website!

First, about what I’m trying to do: I would like to build a dedicated party of new characters to play on the Thelanis Server on Mondays. Most likely Monday evenings EST, but earlier in the day would work too.

Second, about me: I’m a long time D and D gamers, recently come to the online game. I have been playing on Thelanis for about three months experimenting with the classes and items to get a feel for the game. I have 2 characters that I’ve play regularly: Erland a human wizard 7th, and Tesyus a human paladin/fighter 4th/2nd. I have found that sometimes you can get into a good group for an adventure or two, but often you come across people who just want to fly through adventures to gain XP and move onto the next adventure. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just it’s not really the experience I’m looking for.

So this is what I propose: if you are interested, answer this thread with who you are, what you like to play and what times would be best for you. All players are welcome. Once we have a potential group, we can decide on what we are all going to play, make the toons, group up and have at it!!!

The group policies (you should be OK with these before signing on):
    1. The toon for this group would be for this group only. Any outside adventuring should be kept to a bare minimum so as to keep the party close in level and abilities.
    2. The toon can be of any build (it’s not fair to ask someone who has earned a Drow or 32pt build not to use them), but please no hand-me-downs (twinking?) from your 14th level powerhouse character (now Johnny, did you bring enough +5 holy long swords of maiming for everybody?). What we as a team earn, we earn and share as a team. Auctions and buying stuff is fine, as long as you do it with your characters own earned gold.
    3. We play ‘in character’. After all, that’s what D and D is all about, role-playing. Having said that, part of the fun of D and D is also getting together with friends and laughing and joking. Thus, there is a time and place for both.
    4. We all agree on the day and time (Monday’s at ???), and agree to give as much notice as possible for late arrivals or no shows.
    5. Mature / Tactical Players Only Please!

    Default darned time zones

oof - I'm in PST, and am not usually home from work until 1900. I don't have any characters on thelanis, so this would be a first. I'm game, though. It's something I've been wanting to do

Default not married to monday nights

Mondays are the best for me because I am off most Mondays. I do have almost every other night free on a fairly regular basis however, so I could be cool with another night of the week if that works better.

Celelbrindal, if you are really interested and a group for Wednesdays could be put together, I would be happy to game with you.

Cyquis and Neoanderthal, day and time is not firmed up as of yet (a 7pm EST start is not ruled out, a 11pm EST would be kind of late for me however), so what works best for you? Also, what kind/type of character/toon would be your preference to play?

Personally, I like playing the straight Wizard, but only when there are smart players around me (soloing a mage is dam hard and playing with zerger is just frustrating). I love the paladin/fighter I am playing right now and have had great success with a rouge (also lots of fun to play). The Ranger and Clerics I have experimented with were not completely successful, but I think I built them flawed. I’ve never tried a Bard or Barbarian and I am against playing a Sorcerer on general principle (never like the class).

Any time during the week is fine with me, as I'm usually playing NWN during the weekends. As for character, I'm adaptable and can work with anything, but as for a preference, I would like to play a rogue with a bit of bard or wizard, not sure yet.

I might be interested if you are questing and RPing. If it is just dancing around in skirts in a tavern...No thanks.

The Prince...expects to be bowed to if you are a lesser race, but don't expect much more than a nod from my house. Please do not take it as rudeness, if you are not Drow (or occasionaly an Elf) you are nothing but cannon fodder.

The House of Fiore is the drow house and our enforcers are the House of Del Trinta Due. We equally believe in the teaching of Vhaerun.

    Vhaerun
Vhaerun is the god of thievery and the furthering of drow power on the surface world. He is also the patron deity of drow males, teaching a heresy (according to Lloth) that drow males are the equals of drow females. Vhaerun is haughty and proud, like all drow deities. He favors underhanded means and treachery to achieve his goals. His priesthood is exclusively male, and priests usually hide their true vocation in drow communities. Vhaerun has hair and eyes that change color with his emotional state (red when angry, blue when amused, gold when triumphant, etc.) Vhaerun is passively opposed to Lloth. He knows he is not powerful enough to oppose her directly... Yet.
Vhaerun wishes to re-unite the elven people. He considers all elves to be superior to all other races, however, and wishes only to have elves dominate all other races. Vhaerun's loyalty is to all elves, but primarily the drow race. He would like to see the surface elves serving as the enforcers of the "true masters", the drow, who would rule from the depths of the earth.

    Post A proposition is delivered...

Theft moving quickly through the bustling streets of Stormreach's harbor suddenly breaks his stride. He turns meeting the startled gaze of a courier from the House Orien, and hands the man a missive and two silver coins, "Deliver this to Erland the Grey in earnest."

Default No dancing or prancing please ...

Roleplaying and questing is the focus. While I have no problems with roleplaying outside of the quest, mainly when waiting for team members to assemble, the whole tavern group chat thing is not really my style. Not that I'm against it, but in general, it's not what I'm looking for in a group.

So far we are on Monday or Wednesday (time yet to be determined):

    Cyquis as our Rouge
I've got a Wizard or Paladin (perhaps a Cleric) depending on what everyone else is interested in...
Prinstoni is a possibility (as long as there is no dancing...)
celebrindal is possible if we go for Wednesdays

Would like to have at least 4 team members before starting.

    Talking Team Leader

First Character of the group, and the team leader

Draczel (Pronounced Draks-el) Shugar, Drow Wizard.

I was born somewhere here in Xen’drik, as a child I was left on the door step of Marridex Canange of house Cannith here in Stormreach. Marridex sent me to the family in the great city of Sharn. I lived there amongst humans, as an adopted member of house Cannith, for years. I studied the art of magic at Morgrave University, graduating at the top of my class as a full Wizard. I have returned to Stormreach to seek my fortune. With Marridex dead, old for a human when I was left with her, I know no one in the city. I’m not interested in searching for my past or family here. Nor am I interested in seeking my heritage. I have come for adventure, fortune and power. You should know, although my birthright in several time that of a human, I have a human sense of things. I am both sarcastic and arrogant, I dislike getting wet and dislike fighting in hand to hand contact. Give me a stout ale, red meat off the bone, the company of good friends and an enemy who deserves to be obliterated from a distance by arcane fire and I'm happy.

Default Harg, I shall help ye....

Long time role-player. NWN, NWN2. Of course the PnP game as well as others.

Been away from the game since June. I am in, please do not spoil anything new that has happened for me. I want to actually have a REAL D&D experience. I will play a tactical Dwarf Fighter/Barb or a straight barb, have not decided.

    Harg is the name.

Find more about him when ye meet him.

Issuldor Sunshadow will be a human rogue who wants to master an unconventional weapon, the repeating crossbow. He's lived in the docks district of Stormreach for all his life, sticking to the shadows and alleyways. Realizing the wealth and status one could achieve by becoming an adventurer, he made the connection that he could use the skills he learned from trial and error while scrounging in the marketplace, and in turn help out a group of his own.

    Smile Start Date

    Ok,

Looks like we have three players. That's good enough to start. Hopefully we will attract more. Cyquis and Taojeff if you are available, please respond to the thread, and lets plan on starting Monday Dec 3rd at 7pm for our first team run.

BTW, I created a Dedicated Teams web page on Guildportal, you can check it out in the link below.

    Talking Room for more?

I am a long time PnP player and have been playing DDO for some time. I am tired of the same old same old of dungeon grinds. I would like to join your group for light RP and tactical playing. I will play any class the party still needs. I enjoy clerics as long as the party stays reasonably together. Mondays are fine for me.

Name: Bailin Oathkeeper /Race: Dwarf /Class: Cleric

Buy a dwarf an ale and he can drink for one minute.
Teach a dwarf to brew and he is drunk for life.

I'd be interested in starting up a wed night thing possibly.

    Thanks.

    Default Guild vers. Teams

Dedicated Teams is a guild for parties. The Party Team leader makes the rules for their party within the rules of the guild (which are basic). The Party Team leader is made an officer of the guild and an Admin on the guild website.

If you would like to be a team leader and form-up a team for Wednesday nights, I would be happy to help. And, depending on the kind of team you want, I would also most likely like to be on the team.

That would make our Guild/Team coverage complete as Wednesday is currently the only day no Dedicated Team is scheduled for - as of yet...

I'll join both teams too, sorry I haven't been on the forums lately, so I couldn't check out that we were starting on the 3rd, I'll make next session though.
