So all cosmetics same as from no2? But new cloak and sash? No time for awesome art team do a favor 5000 fun item, like fairy wings but bloodied and torn? And/or reaper points 30 black reaper wings? :-)
It feels a tad uninspiring no new rewards? Throw me a bone!!!! So i can run and you get my money!
Can we have screenshots of rewards of the HCL season 2-7 ???
Even the ddo wiki after 3 years doesn t have any pictures of these cosmetics...
I searched on google also and NOTHING.
I personnaly just dont want to start another HCL now it s way too fast, the HCL 6 finished 1 month ago...
But maybe I ll give it a try if we can have decent pictures of rewards, and if I am interrested in.
Wiki has some of the images, but not all unfortunately.

All 3 cosmetics for Season 2 are no luck in the Wiki.
too soon.
Please work on consolidating the servers if you are going to run Hardcore this often.
I am completely fine with an encore season.
I do feel like this is too soon since season 6.
Even though it's a shortened season, the lower reward thresholds seem too generous, but nothing for me to rant about, just offering a little feedback.
Although I got all the rewards I wanted from season 2, I'll be back for the company!
Im fine with the lowered requirements, some people have trouble getting to 5k or 20 reaper points.
But to give out the same cosmetics as a previous more challenging season seems wrong to me. If it was similar but visually distinctive (different colors, no saddle or some such) that would be one thing, but to give out the same rewards with only a minor mostly ignorable change kinda waters down the reward of doing that previous season.
Too soon for a a new season.
5 k favor today is a joke 3 k is a total joke not even close to a chalenge ....with +4 levels
20% more rxp also not needed
Dont call it Hardcore .. call it a seasonal event .....somethign like night revels or cristal cove
remove the laders and make a quick event so people can get the items like cove or nigh revels...
bad move , bad timing
It doesn't matter to me for this season since I won't be playing it (I already got the rewards I wanted from season 2). For the future, I'd prefer that you don't go with +2 again. It was a bit too much of a difficulty jump from previous seasons in my opinion. Maybe you can split the difference and try a season with +3?
The problem with +2 instead of +4 has nothing at all to do with difficulty; the argument against +2 is it becomes exceedingly slow and painful to group simply because there are not that many players - it makes it so that one may search for days for a group to quest. It took me four days to find a group to do tower of frost, as an example. It is true +2 is harder, but being an actual human with a life outside of videogaming, one cannot be expected to sit for hours waiting for a group because it is only +2 who can join.
I thought we had decided as a community that 1 HCL per year was sufficient? Did I misunderstand? The live servers with raiding communities are drained with constant HCLs unless something is done to make LFMs pull from all servers in a multi-server instanced pool and then instanced extra-server questing setup for groups regardless of home server, I cannot see how live server populations can survive multiple HCLs a year without collapsing or how that is good for this game - and I am speaking as someone who loves HCL and respects the established live guild communities.
Ummm so its only a 1 or two mo break between hc seasons now?
Mary, I respect your dedication to the game and hardcore. BUT!
But what the community decides would be a good thing probably means not a dang thing to the devs.
I don't recall a thread where the community decided just one HC season a year is enough, If you have a link I'd love to see it. (I disagree BTW.)
I am on Orien and still cannot transfer my toon. Please do not delete it!
I recall no such consensus being reached, but even if there were, that's a sampling only of the vocal posters who were on these boards for those days/weeks, not any larger "DDO Community". Such may (or may not) be parallel to that larger pool, but since there's no way to know, there's no reliability in a mere forum discussion or "decision". Sorry. :/
Do I sense a new business model of running permadeath season event permanently?
We've experienced a very nice hardware with Season 6 Hardcore Server. Peak levels was about half of total online players and it was working better than all old servers combined (minimum lags, zero crashes/hangups, zero loading screen stuck).
Can you buy another 1-2 servers like HC one and consolidate all old shards (servers) into 1 or 2? Apparently hardware is not the issue anymore. Guilds, housing issues? Well LOTRO did it well.
Or shall we all transfer to Orien and force you to do so? :p
Wow, really? So soon?
Ok, the reduced reward levels help compensate somewhat with the reduced amount of time people will be available during the Christmas season.
It is too soon though.
I for one, get too caught up in trying to get rewards etc from the HC to the detriment of my real life.
Maybe i should seek help and break my addiction to this game.
Great more time when the main servers are dead. They are already down during the holidays.
Oh well. Just canceled by VIP. I am joining the growing number of people who refuse to fork out money for a game that doesn't listen to its players.
Considering this is a redux, maybe they do not count it as a season. I cannot imagine many will linger long on HCL this season.
Personally, I missed season 2-4 due to break during the game. But I am totally against redux seasons as it diminishes the effort from participating in that particular season. If you missed it, too bad. If you quit or failed, too bad. And then to lower requirements for those rewards and make it easier. This does not seem hardcore. This is softcore. What next? Participation trophies?
Who cares if they are having another redux season? Does it change anything in your real life or cause any harm to your health or well-being? I guarantee it does not.
Does it matter if the favor is set to 3000 on a season that will mostly likely have less players (less chances to group), but also give more casual players a chance to get OLD rewards? How does it take away the hard work that you have done on the previous seasons? We are talking about cosmetics here... Not everyone can dedicate every waking moment to playing DDO, and it probably isn't healthy for those that do. I just don't get why people have to complain about everything? You don't have to play every season if you don't want to.
For me personally, I chose not to play season 6, because I simply did not have the time to deal with the new mechanics causing many frustrations and could not be in a static group or anything like that. I enjoyed all of the things I accomplished outside (literally) from DDO during those three months. I am happy for those that had the time to pursue what they got out of S6, but I know many that gave up early because of the new mechanics. It was definitely a season where it was about 50/50 on who liked it and who hated it.
During season 2, I died to roaming rats in Dream Conspiracy while thinking I was safe in a corner, when my wife was talking to me. I had 4957 favor. I decided not to make a second attempt, so if I care enough for another horse, I like that I have an easier option to get one here.
If I were to complain about something that came to light recently, it would be that while I was spending so much time playing HCLs, I missed out on the opportunity to get 100s of reaper items from borderlands to make new reaper items. Now I cannot, and after however many years since reaper started, I would be lucky to have 50 reaper items to burn. Sure, they lowered it from 100 to 75...that still doesn't help me or others that did not jump on the bandwagon of running multiple low level toons in borderlands to get reaper items. Oh well, I will survive. It isn't like people had their "hard work" from doing this taken away from them :)
My only complaint is that live will be dead during the holidays which is a period in which activity tends to be lower than normal anyway.
Lots of emotion being displayed through passion, excitement, and addiction. We ask for more, content, more HC seasons, more events. As soon as SSG gives us what we ask for, we complain and ask them to put on the brakes.
Determining what to do in this ddo world is easy. You do what gives you the most enjoyment.
You like HC, do that.
You need a break, take a break.
Missing a season, or an event is never the end of the world. If it feels like that, seek some help. It is impossible to cater to everyone, and the players that use these forums does not represent everyone.
*sarcasm ON*
Turn on every event, leave them on, smash event controls, walk away
*sarcasm OFF*
I have not and am not complaining. But I understand the complaints.
I don't have as much time as the hard core players. I enjoy "hardcore" and its rewards, but it pushes me to play more than I like. So, I think people would prefer fewer seasons and not have to choose to miss out on rewards.
It is a cash bonus for the game. They are going to push it more and more often. Get used to it.
Seems too soon
This isn't a complaint:
I do NOT really enjoy HC for HC. I do enjoy new champions and themes like the Mimic season. I enjoy cosmetics like the Archon style. Season 6 was Reaper-lite for everyone so terrible for me. I never ran Season 2 HC because those cosmetics did NOT appeal to me, still do NOT appeal to me. I wish everyone luck that wants to enjoy a redux of Season 2 but I will not be there. I fervently hope they never again come up with cosmetics I want in HC. I also fervently hope they add some new cosmetics to the store for people like me that just want to pay to dress my characters how I like. And much respect and appreciation for people like Mary that run HC guilds, thank you so much for your time and efforts.
"a game that doesn't listen to its players."
Let me see if I am getting this right. Hardcore is so popular that the old servers will be dead - and scheduling another hardcore is an example of not listening to what the players want.
Maybe what you mean is it is an example of listening to what other players want and not to what *you* want.
Not that I disagree with those that feel this season is a bit too soon after the last one.
...so the rewards are the same, but the 'challenge' is even easier. Not hardcore.
Yea, so.... I have all the HC2 rewards - as I know many people do, so I probably will not be on HC7 much except maybe to goof around. I have not been motivated to play DDO at all since HC6, but I have not cancelled my sub because I still love the game. HC has a way of burning me out. Not the first time, and probably not the last.
HC2 rewards were fun when they were new, but there are much better HC cosmetics out there now. Although, the mount is still my favorite. Therefore, I suspect not as many people will be on HC this run for various reasons. I wish good luck and fun time to those who will be trying for rewards. If ya see me there, gimme a high-five!

More push for folks to run Reaper. pfft-blech.
But good on the return to +4 level lockout. +2 made running some quest chains a real pita - let alone the grouping issues.
its popular for about 2 weeks, and then the total population drops even further than it was before hardcore. According to DDO audit, that has been the trend for the past 2 years.

"so the rewards are the same, but the 'challenge' is even easier. Not hardcore."
That depends on your definition of hardcore. My definition - and this is what the term has generally meant in computer gaming since at least the early Wizardry and Might and Magic days - is a ruleset where if a character dies it is gone forever and you need to roll up a new character. Way before the internet even existed people did this as a challenge with popular computer roleplaying games and exchanged information about their results on the Compuserve and AOL forums. Just as players held speed-races and competed to see who could win the game or accomplish things in the minimum amount of game time.
While I am saying this definition has a long gaming history - I am not saying that you are wrong. Words change and maybe DDO has been using "hardcore" as synonymous with "difficult" since the sessions began. But to me and many others "hardcore" means "one death and you are out" so it does NOT require each season to be more difficult than the last. It DOES require that the game add to whatever its usual difficulty is that when a character dies it is gone forever - at least from the server though a more normal approach to "hardcore" would have it totally wiped and not able to be transferred.
I think the short time between HC 6 ending and HC 7 is that HC 7 was always planned to be during the xmas break and it was just that HC season 6 was later than planned.
In any case, I'll be in this one a fair bit instead of grab cloak and done as didn't have time in HC 2 to get most of the rewards.
As for the +2 vs +4, +2 in HC 6 didn't really mesh well with the current meta; +3 however would be interesting.
And thankfully no mechanic like those dogs like in HC 6. Mimics are awesome, the dogs were not.
Mimics are unfun. Dogs were fun. Bring back the dogs. Two level lockout was fun. Four level lockout sounds boring, but maybe ok for reapers, just not every time. Not enuf time between 6 and 7. 3000 favor ok. Shortened season ok.
what exact time will hardcore season start? after the 1 pm update?
Just asking because I just woke up because I thought they might have opened already...
Seems pretty simple. If you think it's too soon, don't play. Already have the rewards from season 2 and that's all you play for? Don't play. If you just like the extra element of fear in permadeath, play. It's up to you. I like the challenge, so I'll be playing HC7. The beauty of HC is that you can technically make it as easy or as difficult as you want. Favor awards to easy? Go for the reaper rewards. It's a choice, no one is making you play. If you only want to play one HC season per year, then pick one and play it.
I am a looong term DDO player and grew up playing paper and dice with my family, so have a big soft spot for the game, which probably makes me loyal beyond what is deserved. I was drawn to show off my skills (triple completionist - all lives x3) in Hardcore (got my bloody footprints in a previous season) but was heartbroken to fall repeatedly to lag on Hardcore. There is no way to avoid a lag jump into a trap. No way to avoid being snuffed by the hound while lagging out. All very depressing. Three lag deaths down and sadly, I have given up on Hardcore until I hear the situation is improved for UK players. The word is UK players do suffer more from lag generally - let's hope the powers that be take note and actually take a look. I requested a refund for all the payments I had made to buy tomes etc to give the toons some chance against the stacked odds, but typically I was met with a big fat NO and a denial of any lag issue. I am a bright, educated lady player with a science degree, an overtaxed sense of humor, and a keen sense of injustice, and found the response dismally inadequate and patronizing. It totally let the game down. I totally understand why people leave, faced with such brutal indifference.

Personally re numbers in the game: I don't understand why the buddy xp bonus is not permanent. What exactly is the downside? Surely it would encourage people to play with friends, which can't hurt numbers...
again I think the quests should be open on elite option for everyone on the hardcore server.
without it it makes one dependent on paying for vip or someone with access to open and zerg leaving you behind to die soloing reaper content.
( because of greater speed braking up the party or the lack of patience of the opening player to wait for players to buff)
the spirit of hardcore is the competitiveness of the challenge rewards the HC server gives VIP a head start.
and it takes much longer to reach the xp goals.
when one has only to open or another has to get someone to open or play the quest 3 times.
you get a jump up when you find a group now and then but its very irregular and you will need every min of the timed game play to reach the milestones of the rewards.
I like the Dogs. its a basic R1.
I dont like mimics in general.
I need to find the vulnerability of them yet.
I think the dogs would work well in regular game play Reaper .
The fact they had a short season filler of HC2 enabled me to reach level 20 for the 1st time in 7 seasons.
I didn't have many issues with lag on the hardcore server myself.
the server was generally packed with players most hours of the day.
and finding a LFM with in range of my toons level was not as problematic
I also like the idea of a single free transfer once a year for the other servers would increase LFM availability to those with low attendance, servers which basically die during hardcore.
would give the players options to reevaluate as well as join those player they liked to group with during hardcore.
wasn't there supposed to be a free name change option with the transfer because of the AI name change when transferring? ~1
Next season I will try and tr at least 1 time on heroics hardcore.
were as those vip player dont have too.
