I was just about to ask about the maintenance window. I have nothing nice to say about the speed at which this update was shoveled at us so I will say nothing else.
Based on the Lam feedback it makes you wonder who this update is for. I don't think as many people hate it as the ED revamp (I could be wrong) but certainly not as many people are as excited by it. And it doesn't seem to be required to support the next release (like the ED revamp was to support the level increase). I am ambivalent on it except I greatly appreciate the bank UI revamp. I am now not dreading the Iconic TR I have planned for this week and dealing with the TR cache.
So bank change will come tomorrow? I hope you have a good backup system installed. There will probably be people with pitchforks and torches camping out in front of your offices, if something goes wrong.
Good luck.
Cheers,
Titus
Lets be positive, if we loose things we'll have a reason to refarm it. its genius move.
Thougt you were more a half-full glass guy O Mighty Titus my Beloved Leader.
If no notes can be posted today due to a technical issue, yet posting a post is not affected by a technical issue, else you can't post; this may suggest that there's other changes that have been "added" since Preview 3 on Lam.
Get ready for some surprises everyone...(!)

Hopefully, a few more cheerful things have been added to the patch notes come tomorrow based on the feedback received.
- Obviously, we wont have a storage update without some real improvements in terms of actual storage. All current shared bank slots are being doubled. E.g., if you currently have 200 slots in the shared bank you now have 400. Also, the price of shared bank slots and character bank slots have been reduced significantly.
- Further, all minor artifacts and many older raid items (3+ years old) have been made BtA.
- On further reflection the nerf to FvS (and Clerics) was too much. Holy Smite is now 1d6+6, and AoV cores 1, 3 and 5 add +1 caster level while all AoV cores add +1 max caster level.
- We hear you on Sonic Blast. It is not being nerfed and thus remain AoE. Instead Lightning Strike from Stormsinger does not proc from Sonic Blast. That was, afterall, the real issue.
- Aasimar. Back to 7 total but we had to nerf the recharge, sorry, it was just too good.
- ToEE. We really want you guys to run these so we gave them really good xp. And by really good we mean really, really good. So go forth and enjoy these quests with excellent xp rewards. We do expect to have to reduce this down the line but for now we just want to make sure you swarm these quests.
and probably a few more changes from the Lam notes to cheer things up.
I specifically can't get the release notes published until tomorrow due to a one-off hardware issue, but yes, this is the update to Temple of Elemental Evil, the updated Character Bank, Shared Bank, and Reincarnation Cache, and the debut of the three initial (and free!) Archetypes! The release notes themselves are essentially the same as was seen on Lamannia most recently. We'll have a landing page on DDO.com up tomorrow as well.
This really should have been part of the OP to be honest from the get go if that was the case.
However, I will still not expect everything in notes to be what is found in game, as there's unfortunate history of this repeating itself over and over again. Will monitor for unusual stuff as usual and keep the more juicy bugs/exploits for personal testing use.
I am looking forward to the Sacred Fist though, and have some nice ideas for it that I can build on one of the part time actor (non main or even secondary) accounts.

So silly. This update stopped any more spending from me on this game. Now do I cancel go ahead and cancel vip? Idk, see how I feel in the morning.
Can you lesser reincarnate into an archetype? Do I need a plus Heart of Wood for each class level?
You should be able to reincarnate into an archetype with a +0 heart of wood as long as your character is the base class of whatever the archetype is. Otherwise if you're a Fighter for example, you'd need a +X heart of wood to get the levels of whatever class the archetype belongs to.
I really appreciate SSG for trolling its own Hardcore players with this update. You guys are really crushing it--the player base. You're crushing the player base.
As no one is surprised to hear...
No changes based on feedback made.
Bank-Great start
Free completionist? ok
Reaper shards 75? ok they could be 50 and almost reasonable.
TOEE broken up? Could have been good but missed opportunities. Including a zuggtmoy raid even if a one room. Exp and time? where these even looked at?
TOEE loot? Missed opportunity to bring weapons up to raid level with schism crafting.
The saddest thing is the TOEE missed opportunity. To me the PnP was fantastic and formed large parts of campaigns with an epic conclusion. The first implementation I actually enjoyed but lost much of its feel due to not being able to save progression for hit and runs. The mechanics of the end fight when it first came out (epic version not the heroic which I can't comment on) was fantastic. The room could have been larger but mechanically interesting.
Archtypes- best thing I can say is they are NOT required for completionist. More handwraps melee? The forums were being swamped with requests for that. The cleric even my death domain is not really seeing it. The bard might be ok. The concept is sound but these current ones don't interest me however maybe others enjoy them and opens frameworks later.
I won't mention divine nerfs.
Overall- if this update did not happen I would not miss it.
Where did this update hurt you?
really?
Temp of Elem evil - is now 3 parts - WHO CARES
3 new class option paths? - WHO CARES
Player bank upgrade - You really dislike that? I think you kinda alone on that.
How does any of this ADVERSLY effect HCL?
Did I miss something?
I don't personally mind most of the nerfs. Do I think they're a good idea in their current magnitude, no, but I'm guessing there's something coming down the road to justify them (hopefully).
I do, however, think that the timing is horrid. I myself am not a Hardcore league player, but to me Hardcore is designed for (or should be about) players to show off their understanding of the game meta, their skill at playing and understanding the game, knowledge of the game to safely navigate adventures that make progress, and balancing risk and reward. Implementing nerfs like this can have a pretty nasty impact on players in Hardcore, which I also personally use as a type of testing ground for what could be considered safe/strong builds. If a build comes up frequently in Hardcore, there might be a reason for that, be it high sustain, safe reliable damage/cc, or just overall high power. While this might be a sign that the build needs looked at from a balance standpoint if it becomes the go to for any given Hardcore league, it is a terrible idea to make changes that effect character balance/power DURING a HC league because it disrupts both the purpose of HC and can skew data on builds should it be used for balance checking.
I'm looking forward to the Dark Apostate, and hoping that the damage meta magic working on Bane/Curse/Prayer/Bless works well enough to sure up the holes in the DA tree. I'm more looking forward to what the Archtypes mean for development down the road and what interesting builds could come from them. These first three are okay, but as we know the first of anything is usually a little rough around the edges.
Check the Lamannia preview 3 notes. There are pretty good nerfs to Aasmir lay on hands, reduced MCL/CL for AoV for FS, Holy Smite and all other alignment spells are now down to 1d6+4 of their damage, BAB is now capped at 25, and the one that triggered a lot of people, Sonic Blast is now single target not AoE anymore.
Not surprisingly yes...
Nerf to current builds (leveling) particularly divines.
The change to favour on the TOEE Quests allowing people to effectively get the current version favour AND the new favour, provided they don't TR.
Changing the variables half way through an event is very much trolling your player base. Giving others an advantage in favour over others that cannot be obtained after a certain point is also trolling your player base.
Yes, you did. First, I maintain that balance changes during HC is the worst timing. However, this does not impact me directly.
However, some players have already completed the existing TOEE quests on HC, and while those quests are being removed, the favor will stay. My group is about to TR on HC (we went straight for reaper xp). So essentially, some have a 30 favor advantage because we can no longer access the 'old' TOEE favor.
There are equitable ways of doing this. They chose not to. As someone who enjoys the competition and spent money for chest re rolls, etc., this is a crappy thing to do. They actively chose to ignore how they're screwing some players on HC; they don't care.
At this point, I think they should automatically give everyone on HC the existing ToEE favor.
ohhhh
so some players can get extra favor to get the cosmetics .... that almost all
(reasonably) dedicated HCL players will get anyways?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> WHO CARES <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
oh oh oh Mr. Carter !!!
They might get an advantage on the leader board !!!!
and the prize for being on the leader board? NOTHING
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> WHO CARES <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
WHO CARES !
I don't !
BECAUSE -------------------------------> Anything you get in this event
will in no way effect what I get in this event.
everyone is arguing over bragging rights on a leader board they often forget to even update
after the event is over. A leader board that nobody except the people on it bother to
even read.
Many, actually.
1. SSG is making ToEE even longer, for no good reason. From what people are saying on the Lamma forums, we now need to complete EVERY elemental node to flag for Zuggy. Plus, the experience is very bad from what people are saying.
2. SSG are removing ToEE level 7 weapons from the drop tables, for no good reason. Rather than overhaul it into something sensible like the Greensteel or Alchemical crafting (i.e. where each item type has only one base), SSG decided, brilliantly, to just get rid of the weapons entirely. Now, veteran players who farmed out these weapons, such as myself, are at a distinct advantage over the Johnny-come-latelies. Yay for reverse power creep?
3. You continue to either misrepresent or ignore the valid complaints that others are raising, with regards to HC. I don't care personally because my stance is "screw hardcore, it divides the playerbase even further and fundamentally doesn't even work given DDO's lag and RNG problems." But the points that people have are valid.
4. Aasimar being nuked from orbit for no stated reason
5. Divines being nuked from orbit for no stated reason
6. Sonic blast being nuked from orbit; a 16-year-old spell being massively changed, just to accommodate the latest new shiny thing (Stormsinger). The sensible approach would be, as many others have pointed out, to nerf the NEW THING instead of the thing which has been in the game since its inception.
7. And, as can be expected from SSG, given their track record over the past 5 years or so: an utter lack of receptiveness or responsiveness to player feedback.
Yes, there is some good in the update, and I'm grateful for free completionist. But there's a reason - many, in fact - people are cancelling their subscriptions en masse and complaining on the forums about U56. This is overall a very bad update and if you're not convinced, then you're either unable or unwilling to see why.
And there we see it, as usual its about---> You
For some it may be a challenge to simply reach a basic goal and I hope that you are more successful this time around after the last HC season where you publicly rage quit on the forums- still nice to see you back by the way. For others its about being the best and this does NOT allow a consistent way to measure this. I don't actually care and have no stake in it but others do. Hey what do you know, its not about ME.
Changing the meta half way through the season is very poor form as the underlying goal was that people were able to translate the game and meta of the regular servers to succeed on HCL. They changed this. They changed fundamentally how some classes played mid way. Once again while this may impact one or 2 of my live characters I will adjust, doing this mid season is just poor form. Some have achieved their goals on builds that are going to be nerfed, is this fair to those who are looking toward those things? No.
I find it very interesting that someone who likes to believe they are the voice of the HCL can pick and choose for others in the HCL what is important to them.
This right here
i have so many things to say but they would all get me banned.
So i leave with this 2 items:
Dont bother putting lam up anymore. you dont want the feed back and wont change anything
and it is asinine to do this in the middle of hardcore
i leave you with this:
https://scatteredquotes.com/wp-conte...h-Quotes-8.jpg
Yup pretty much. After Preview 1, they're really just looking for enough people to confirm the dev's unilateral decisions that they feel validated that they're right and the grand majority of people who really oppose changes and present cogent and well-argued reasoning are just wrong and will come around when they "actually play it"
Breaking up TOEE is a good step, even if its not enough by itself to get people to actually play it because the XP/min is bad and it forces you to run all 4 wings in Part 2....
Archetypes are a nice idea in practice, though the first 3 are nothing exciting and I doubt many people will play anything but Stormsinger, and that only because they have to now...
The nerfs to casters, particularly Spellsingers, are just indefensible. Nothing else to be said, they're just 100% wrong and show a clear disdain for the playerbase and a questionable understanding of how people actually play the game. They continue to create new AOE content while they continually nerf all our viable AOE.
so, since whirlwind is reducing the feats, we all get lesser hearts or what? I'm sure the answer is probably no way, but I have to ask. lol
Please consider reevaluating this update before releasing. I personally like many aspects of this update but also feel many were lackluster. As many others have voiced, there will be some grief that this will cause the players of hardcore as well with the favor adjustment and the fvs viability.
My personal view is that the class changes at the least need to be postponed as I have seen too much negative feedback with regards to the changes and their negative impacts, a big one is the sonic blast change, its one of the only aoe spells a low level caster can effectively use as burning hands/acid spray are a bit too close for a caster to do safely, and with how mobs are being assembled in the dungeons nowadays, without aoe a caster is helpless as there's like 7-10 enemies in a group and if they get close enough to use the two other spells then they are as good as dead.
I did really like the new sacred fist archetype but I couldn't help but wonder what the reasoning was to put the radiant servant tree in there as it does not seem like a healing specced build.
For the dark apostate it just seemed kinda weird, I had a hard time figuring out what the archetypes focus was as it did not excel at much and what it did excel at, it felt was undersupported (ie it has apostate dice for weapon user to imbue their weapons with, good, but no aura for self heals or chance to heal on hit, feels bad since this is directly competing with ek at this point for flavor and abilities when played this way)
Stormsinger I liked so no real complaints, just the sonic blast change as that was a key spell for any spellsinger/stormsinger/arcane caster.
Bank changes I am very enthusiastic about but weary because of the general problems associated with tinkering with the bank system.
Toee changes I am very sad to lose the craftable weapons, while you guys did add an augment to give us the aoe blast (I love that by the way, full support), with the general increased support for Eldritch Knight and Arcane Archer lately, it feels bad to remove one of the few sources in game of vulnerability stacks for elemental damage. The other loot changes to ToEE seemed ok, some items were good but many seemed meh since they are coming in at a level range where theres so many other sets from the revamped gear from the epic crafting pass and Isle of Dread, it just feels a little saturated at that level. I did not get a chance to explore the actual ToEE quests that got changed so will eagerly look forward to running those when they go live.
Overall this update does have some good stuff in it, but it feels like there's not enough good in it at the moment to outweigh all the negatives that going live with it will cause, particularly going live with hardcore active. I would personally consider adding the archetypes and bank/DD changes and leave the rest for after it has had more time to be hammered out and would be more appropriately timed. My biggest concern here is that you guys will push something that drives away players which will slowly whittle down the player base until there's not enough to support the game, I love this game so hope you guys will reconsider this update.
This right here. I would second that motion. Put in the New Archtypes and dd changes if you must, but wait til end of the HCL for the rest and it would at least save some face or hard feelings. I personally don't play HCL, but I understand how frustrating it is to play a competitive mode and have your progress uprooted through no fault of your own. Public/Community opinion on SSG/DDO has been hurting lately and as Flopperjack said, my biggest concern is not the nerfs or shifts in the game, it's that players will get chased off by feeling their feedback is falling on deaf ears. I'm very fond of this game, and would love to continue to play it for years to come. It's just a little concerning to see the mounting disappointment/frustration from longstanding players that's been building of late.
The free packs and expanded free classes and other goodies that have been given out in the recent months/year have been really nice. I'll speak for myself when I say this as to not speak for everyone: To me, feeling like my concerns and feedback is at the very least being heard and taken into consideration is far more important than any free hand out. It's understandable that Dev's simply cannot spend all day responding to every piece of feedback that they get, else they'd never have to time to, ya know develop the game. But when something comes up like this patch that has had some VERY strong, reasonable, and constructive feedback (obviously mixed in together with plenty of simply angry and nonhelpful vent posts) it is vital that the communities concerns be addressed directly and with transparency.
It's hard to not feel that way anymore about any game that uses the tried and true dev practice of "throw it to the users and stick your head in the sand" methodology. I know I'm repeating an echo, but if SSG/Turb just came out and said "we don't care about your feels", it would at least be honest. ;)
You know, there is absolutely .... I would say nothing but the bank update might help me ....
'nothing (almost)' in this update for me.
I am ok with it.
Maybe because I am a casual player and can care less about multiple lives.
Even though it really has very little for me.
But it would seem that the Long time, multi-life,
raid for life crowd wants to (stealing your term)
nuke it from space.
I get told (over and over again) that I do not like
anything in the game ... I post, hey this update is ok
and out of the very woodwork come the vets screaming (basically) it must be Armageddon !
So I guess I am not even allowed to passively
be ok with some new content without a literal army
of detractors ready and poised to strike.
Don't you have anything better to do?
Why does my opinion cause a Tempest ?
Your never going to 'win' me over, but you
will certainly reinforce what I already think
concerning the Vet player base.
Which is ironic since I have been here longer than several of you.
2008 to be exact ---- 14 yrs ago
Sure, blast this from orbit, knock yourselves out.
Oh! I think I get it now...SSG are supposed to be the Archvillains. That's what it is. Can't imagine any good reasons otherwise for this horrendous update to our beloved game.
I felt compelled to empty my TR cache. And my bank. I just have no faith that it will be carried over properly.
So much salt and the patch and the patchnotes arent even out. Maybe we get some nerfs but i think it can be a good turn.
Yes they changed much now in the past (to good or bad) but at least something is happening and it seem to work.
I have only one critic with this patch now, it's in a Hardcore Season and i think this can be bad. We had this another time where the hardcore needed to be shutdown and this will annoy those players. I am not a Hardcore player so this is just a reminder.
Now to copy and paste this into my signature. I think Cordovan has honestly done a wonderful job but sometimes his supervisors and bosses place him in a horrible no win situation. This is one of those times. SSG has failed the community and Cordovan. At least Cordovan gets paid while we get the <bleed>. Sorry, had to censor my feelings for the under 18 crowd.
SSG should already take their heads out of their... hats and realize that each time they did not listen to player feedback they ended up screwing up the game for a long, long time.
Remember Steelstar and company saying for months that Inquistor is NOT OP because their data tells them so (sic!), while people were zerging high reaper content on first life toons?
Remember them addressing shiradi casters with orbital strike nerf, reverting a tiny bit of it and calling it a day? How many shiradi casters have you seen since?
Remember nerf to handwraps? How many handwrap monks have you seen since?
List goes on and on.
I wonder what the real reason is for this update? There has to be some way they are gonna make money off of it, I just can't figure out what it is. What are they going to sell to make up for the nerfs which has been the way they do business for some time now.
If you happen to know, please enlighten us.
If you can't get the web page to work, I am sure most of us would be happy to read the release notes in the forums. Please post here until you get the web page working
It’s past the time when the update has started so yes this is a good question. W T F ssg it’s bad enough the nerfs are unwarranted and met with “hostile” receptions at best but you fail to listen to feedback and then don’t even post the release notes before you roll out the update? Absolutely horrendous service.
I am with you on this though I am far more positive on the bank update. But you have to wonder, if updates are to give the players something new to be excited about and the best responses that they get is "I am ok with it because I don't care about it" then why are they releasing it as is?
Release Notes: https://www.ddo.com/update-notes/ddo...-release-notes
Are you guys just going full steam ahead with what was preview 3? Because, there's a lot missing from the release notes.
Example:
Just memorize all the cure spells and play as a divine disciple. Even if it had the whole, "Your negative energy spells does not heal undead creatures" enhancement, it wouldn't work anyway.
+1
There have been, what, 2 dev posts since 8-25 on lam. So frustrating, given the amount of threads and replies on this "update."
Also, putting sonic blast under bugfixes is a complete joke. If you want to go that route how about fixing other more important and recent real bugs.
Whirlwind Attack is now: "Tactical Melee Cleave: Activate this ability to attack all enemies in a 360 degree arc around you twice. This attack deals +4[W] damage." (Known Issue: This is meant to be +2[w], will be corrected in a future patch). Note that it now hits the same number of times in all melee combat styles.
So, the note on the "hits same number of times in all melee combat styles" means 2 hits each correct??? So a buff to everybody but monks (for this specific area)???
Clearly not. Nor does the leaderboards this season in HCL since there was a major update during HCL.
This has to be the most player unsupported update in the history of DDO, but since there is no decision to purchase anything on the players part, clearly they do not care about feedback.
For me personally, this update will come and go and I will still play (as my favorite builds are largely unaffected). Heck I will probably get the new PL feats (if I can find places to store my TR cache), but what I hope the devs understand is these are the types of changes that force players to leave the game forever. Monk nerfs, IPS nerfs, ED changes (although these arguable aren't nowhere near as bad as the other two), kill playstyles and force changes. And considering the reincarnation process is still horrible and unpleasant, and you need to walk on eggshells not to bug it out, people do not always want to just change their build either. This needs to be considered by the developers more if they cared about their players experience. But their actions speak volumes. If a change to Sonic Blast for example must happen (which there are easier solutions, such as lockout the spell from Stormsinger path and replace with electric loop at 2 or something), at least give 3 considerations...
1.) Wait for u56 or not force onto HC Server 2
2.) Give us more bank space with the update so if we must TR we dont spend hours playing hide the BtA loot on a mule.
3.) All affected classes should receive a universal heart of reincarnation which can be used to LR/HTR/RTR/ITR for free.
This would be the actions of a considerate developer/producer. It is called player compensation. DDO is the only game in recent years I have played that does not do this.
Well, either the tooltip or the spell was wrong for years.
From the wiki:Quote:
Target: Foe, Directional, Breakable
Description: Blasts an enemy with loud high-pitched sounds, dealing 1d6+1 sonic damage per caster level. (Maximum sonic damage 8d6+8.) The target must make a successful Will save to avoid being dazed for 2 to 6 seconds, or until they take damage. This spell has double range.
Quote:
Despite the implication of the spell description that only a single target will be affected, this spell has a spherical area of effect at the point of impact, but has no visual effect indicating this.
While I also don't like that change (easy leveling for sorcs and bards during heroics because of a level 1 AoE mass stun was really nice), I can absolutely see that this may count as a bug fix. Maybe a bit late, but when they do archetypes, they will probably also look at the spell lists to get rid of some bugs of the filed pile.
Hi ill take a stab at it........this is only a guess obv ...the fact these 1st 3 arch types are free they will be released and be overperforming and will remain that way until the others are SOLD to us and then over time be hammered into the ground after sales dry up.................history repeats itself
Yeah, thx for the whole dev team for some updates to hires. Much appreciated.
You raise a concern, sure. Though my concern lays here:
"Rogue Hirelings Search Scores have been improved to be more able to search of upper heroic traps on harder difficulties."
And than my concern being that they now can find boxes but (possibly) blow em up as their disable skill isn't up to par with the search skill.
I, for one, would be thrilled to actually be able to inspect the hires stats, prev at the vendor that sells the contracts.
Some of the stats revealed would amaze us probably as many a hire can pull a switch/lever or activate a rune you might not think they would be able to.
Attributes displayed are dependent on the class of course but things that would interest me before buying a contract are for instance:
Arms classes display their -> Melee power, Ranged power, Preferred fighting style (Two handed, Sword and board, Two weapons, handwraps, thrown, bows, xbows, etc) attacks per second and average damage per swing. Followed by their Defends stats and HP. Possible their Intimidate Skill and Hate/Threat Increases and possible at which range this is triggered.
Specialist classes display their -> Specialities first including the DC. So things like search, spot, listen, open lock, disable device. Then the same rundown of arms classes.
Caster classes display their -> Spell book (as they often can cast way more than what is on their hotbar), their spell levels and their DCs. Seeing casters have an option for melee is silly now a days (actually as ever, except maybe the level 1 and 2 hires as having just two spells of which one goes off reliably at the range they like to hang out at), just have em run away until off timer for the burning hands or whatever trick they can pull off. I'm dappling of my initial thoughts here. So have an insight in their spell pool and HP would be sweet.
Hybrid classes, do we have druid, alchemist, artificer and/or warlock as hires?
And what races do the hires have, surely they can be mixed up a bit more.
Then how effective can they be actually if we don't know what enhancements they have and if they have spend points in their racial tree or not.
Oh I want to much here, I know.
Just average DPS and Nr of Mobs they can survive at their own (At Elite) would be a nice baseline to measure things against I guess.
Edit:
And thx for this update as a whole. I'm sure there are some eyebrows raised here and there but there is a lot of new stuff and long anticipated changes in this one.
Thx for listening to the community.
Even though I am generally ok with this update, there are a few head scratchers.
Minor things I guess, but still...
The Cleric Archetype can add EVIL damage to weapons ...
why?
It is the absolutely weakest damage type out there.
You can pretty much count the number of 'good' monsters
that would be specifically vulnerable to it on 1 hand.
at least 1/3 of the monsters out there are evil and will totally ignore the damage add.
You would be better off with a garden variety flame add.
Literally, one of the weakest buffs in the game.
but whatever.
Better banking: need to actually see it yet, but YES!
Sonic blast nerf: Aw shucks. Need to rethink bard life.
More heroic PL feats: Just stop, there are already a gazillion PLs.
(However, three lives out from heroic completionist, VERY glad they are not required).
Everything else, not too relevant to me just now.
+1 for the completionist feat.
Other than that, Thank you for totally ignoring your consumers AGAIN.
In the future, please DO NOT ask for feedback if you are not going to listen to it.
Might as well just not open Lamannia EVER.
oh, Thanks for allowing me to retire ANOTHER character, SSG. That makes 2 1/2 active and 8 1/2 mules, for me.
I guess you really don't want people to play your game.
is there still 30 mins to go or are they 30 minutes late for world to be reopened?
your friend sil :)
This update is insane to me. Yet another example of the devs being completely out of touch with the game. And to be clear, almost none of the nerfs effect me personally and the ones that do (holy smite) are not the worst offenders (it effects 1 spell in my 32 cleric's rotation, and not the best one).
The problem is there were substantially better ways to do basically everything that is being done and the devs either didn't feel the need (despite claiming they want our feedback) or didn't have the ability to logically explain why they wanted to do it this way.
Fundamentally it feels like they lack any real comprehension of what the player perspective is and are so distrust.ful (I had to add a '.' to this word because it was censoring it? LOL) of our feedback that short of overwhelming push back (and sometimes not even then) they ignore it.
But the most incredible thing to me is the bank changes being made without laying out a clear vision for how the space will (or more likely won't) be increased to a usable amount in the future. All of the above goes a long way to explain why we don't trust them to get it right as shown by the feedback of a substantial group of people who voiced real concerns about it in the bank change thread and were completely ignored about those concerns.
Their perspective was "Well we're only looking for feedback on these changes, so we can ignore the people expressing concerns about where these changes are leading." In short it's a clown show. They aren't serious about feedback in any way other than a token effort. If they were, they would include us in the long term planning for bank storage and not just show us snippets of their road map at a time and ignore any/all feedback not directly on that snippet.
This is how you treat a 5 year old. You let them decide superficial options that don't impact your real plans, but if they have any complaint about thing you don't care about, and it's not inconvenient to you, then you might placate them so you can point to it later as an example of your benevolence.
But it is true. It does point out the problem with many players favorite meme "if the bug helps the players they would have fixed it immediately". When they don't fix it immediately (and despite the narrative they often leave player benefiting bugs a long time), then people complain that it is a nerf when they do change it. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. The playerbase should come up with a timescale that the devs can use to target player benefiting bugs so that it is neither too fast (they hate us) nor too slow (they nerf us because they hate us). I am certain there is a 10 minute window about 1.56 months after a release that would be acceptable to a slim majority.
correct.
All sonic spells should effect all in earshot, period.
If a bard is singing an inspiring song, and I hear it, shouldn't I be inspired too.
Same for a spell, if a mob is standing next to the target, he should be effected.
I know it's a fantasy game and the appropriate Science Laws do not apply, but seriously...
In short, they should all (with the exception of Reverberate, which works from within) be AOE.
When it breaks builds and gets slipped in at basically the last second before an update goes live, I'd consider it poor form. I am working on leveling 3 bards right now - my main is on a bard life, at level 12, I just TR'd to an iconic tiefling to make a bard for raid support (lvl 17), and my HC bard who died (lvl 14?) that I want to take to cap. A 1-2 week notice doesn't give me the time I need to get these to 20 so I can assess the damage and TR right away. I have a demanding job and a family, and my free time is very limited - scrambling to avoid a nerf isn't really possible for me.
So now I'm left:
a) limping to 20 and TR'ing (unfun having your build deflated midway through a life),
b) buying a heart to turn my toons into stormsinger ($$ maybe the free heart given at start of life can be used? I hope...),
c) quitting/taking a break [this seems likely for me, at least for a few weeks. I've already cancelled my VIP resub due to this],
d) otto box ($$$)
While it certainly has been here a long time I would like to point out that Sonic Blast was added in 2010's Update 5: Rise of the Guilds -> https://ddowiki.com/page/Update_5_Release_Notes" and it was never working as described. It was also changed recently (early last year) along with many other spells (divine and druid spells mostly) to do significantly more damage.
I am glad they are keeping it as a box breaker as they seem to have ruined every other spell for that.
Edit: Personally I preferred it the way it was before the massive buff last year. It was not a DPS spell and never needed to be. The AoE was fine (even though it did not fit the description).
So are the worlds back up yet? Bc you know, every single business that opens at x time which are their posted hours - you can bet there are people ready to go and are going to be upset that you’re 15-20-30 minutes late. That pretty doesn’t fly at all anywhere - someone is losing their job. So WT F - SSG can you not just handle basic standards of business now? I mean we all know the answer but come on - get it together this happens everytime.
EDIT: Jesus, thank you.
