epic Against the Demon Queen: Queen Lailat boss bugged (no end chest)

We have run EE ADQ twice in the past week, and the end boss Queen Lailat bugs out in the last summoning circle area - we defeated Lailat, but she then revives at 0 health and becomes undefeatable (she just remains at 0 health but continues attacking).

The quest does complete, but there is no end chest.

We were considering maybe it is because we killed her too quickly? We will have to try again and slow down the dps to see if it bypasses this bug, but was wondering if anyone had any insight into this?

The same happened so far two times for me on reaper.

This would be my first guess. There have been issues caused by this in the past. Slow down the DPS next time if you have been KO'ing her really quickly.

This same type of thing happened to me on Hardcore with Succubus Double in Wrath of the Flame. Died, got back up with 0 HP and followed me through the rest of the quest.

oh golly, thank goodness this bug did not happen (afaik) with Queen Lailat in ADQ on hardcore.

I was wondering if they were somehow messing with the stat/power level of Queen Lailat that might be causing this issue - there was another forum thread about how Queen Lailat is too easy to kill on heroic. but I did not observe this phenomenon with immortal Queen Lailat in ADQ until this week. I ran it last week without any issue.

I ran ADQ yesterday with a second-lifer alt of mine on epic hard, and it did this exact same thing!

The only problem is my rogue mechanic is not a strong melee character, and I spent a good minute or two kiting Lailat around the room as I wore her down. I don't think this is a "killing the boss too quickly" issue.

I also have experienced this.

And I also was solo and it didn't feel like it had gone particularly fast.

Yep me too just this week but I did get the raid flag at least. Kinda too bad. This quest is very cooland a lot of work to get to the end.

Saw this happen on heroic reaper so I went back in and did it on heroic elite and both DQs bugged in the same manner (Ran her around for awhile just to make sure). The quest marks as finished but no chest and you just beat on her for 0 health.

yeah I am hoping this is fixed soon - the ADQ end chest awards tokens of the twelve and (I think) also has a small chance to drop named items.
I am not sure when they released update 50 if they inadvertently removed named item drops from the epic menechtarun quests. I have been running epic chains of flame to see if heroic named items are still dropping, but so far have had no luck.

Had the windmill in The Knight Who Cried Windmill do that as well, although I did get the end chest in that case. I’ve done Zawabi’s Revenge on epic three or four times in the last few days on a couple different characters and Lailat hasn’t bugged out for me. So it’s at least not universal. I wasn’t super fast killing her so it doesn’t test the ‘too much DPS’ hypothesis.

+1 group who had this happen a few days ago. We did R4 epic. Killed her pretty fast but not excessively so and she did the same thing - revive at 0 health and give no rewards.

I wonder if it isn't so much rate of dps, but instead she is getting a burst of damage done to her right as she would begin to teleport to a ledge.

yeah it does not seem to be a dps issue for Queen Lailat in ADQ.

I very slowly attacked Queen Lailat for about 5 minutes, and when the hp when to 0, she disappeared, then she reappeared a few seconds later at about 10% health, and was invincible from that point on.

No dev comment? Did you guys bug report?

Don't think we'll get any comment, as if no comment already it likely means that they don't have anything to track down that produces this result (possibly at all, if not) consistently.

I will try to pay attention to see what auras or stances I have, but I was on a rogue/artificer inquisitive without any auras the last time that I slowly pinged Queen Lailat to immortality.

oddly, I have noticed this issue elsewhere (as someone reported earlier) - we were running Wrath of the Flame in shavarath, and in the end fight, all the "Succubus Doubles" ended up bugging out in the same way. as soon as we beat them down the succubi, they became immortal/undefeatable. as soon as a Succubus Double got down to 0, it seemed to phase away and then came back with 0 hp and unkillable.

Is this still bugged on Heroic?

Planning to run a few alts through there this weekend and would love not to make the trip if there's nothing at the end.

A bit late here as I didn't see this got a reply, but... The first thing I notice, is that Lailat is aggro'd on the Owl there. There's a known issue with aggro onto the familiars. :: edit :: What I'm thinking is that she is broken out of her stay out of combat now she's escaping bit, and instead continues to attack on the aggro'd Owl and thus breaks her out of the completion because she isn't removed from the quest. :: further edit :: This would then be similar to how the old Fear Auras would break certain quests and continuations because an enemy was caught in it during a transition. So I'm wondering it that's what is happening here.

How many other runs that failed in a similar fashion had such "summons" out with them?

Just went and brought my Falconry Monk in and did a quick flag for DQ. And during AtDQ, with the bird out, I deliberately stuck her with the bird as the narrator says she vanishes, and jumped away from Lailat, allowing the bird to remain in her proximity and cause her to continue aggro'ing and attacking. EXACTLY as axel15810 video shows.

So it's pretty much confirmed the issue is related to Familiars.

So anyone doing this, unsummon ALL your familiars. Feydark, Falconry, etc. But because DDO treats summons and familiars as the same category, I would refrain from using them too for this until a more permanent solution can be found on the Dev side to prevent this from happening again.

The only other alternative, would be my monk was using the Lord of Blades spear, meaning there's Vulnerability being applied that might impact on it as well as cause. But I imagine it's more familiar than vulnerbaility since we had vulnerability before and never really saw this. So money would still be on familiars.

My initial thought would have been with the "I am War, I am Destruction" phase not completing properly. That phase she gets a buff.

But based on the vid, I see why I have not seen this issue - No familiars/summons being used

Same issue happened to my group just now - R1 Epic. Friend and I both had familiars out a falconry tree bird and a feydark cat. So could have been that issue. It was interesting, we ddoored out and ran back up to see again. She was still there and started hitting me with flame strike before I teleported in.

Will try it without the familiars next time. At least it finished. I can handle not getting the tokens or loot, not finishing the quest would have been really annoying.

So we have a few instances from different players using and not using familiars that seem to support the theory of the issue (Familiars cause Lailat to not despawn and result in no chest as that appears to be tied to Lailat going away which she doesn't with a familar around), so that's good to know there might be something wrong with it and the issue is not likely to be something else.

At least if the Devs didn't know where to look, there's a more narrow road to go down now to find the exact issue and do something about it.

I watched this week's Weekly Wednesday Livestream on Youtube yesterday (as I usually can't watch it live) and saw someone brought up this exact issue to Cordovan and apparently he hadn't heard anything about it till the livestream. I thought he at least skimmed the forums semi-weekly? I know they keep saying they're very busy right now but it definitely feels like DDO is on the back burner for whatever is going on.

I've run this quest with two different characters in the past week.
One on Heroic Normal. No pets, no hirelings, no familiars, no creature companions, just me. Lailat bugged out and no end chest.
I also ran it on Epic Normal with the 2nd character, again, just me, no pets or anything and the same thing happened.

Bugged out for us as well every time we've ran it the past couple of lives. Tried no pets, familiars, or the like last run and it didn't help. Pally and Arti on last run, Arti had access to dog and familiar but had neither out for the whole run.

I don't really see where her having aggro on a third party would affect her in this manner. I mean, it's an outside the box thought, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

The theory is if shes the one casting the spell to remove herself from the run but only does that normally when she isn't needing to aggro on anything else around so can finish the spell effect properly to do so. And the sudden nee aggro could take her out from it.

Incidentally, I did have besides the owl out, also gear that did intercession and spellcast prevention. That's certainly an effect not common before and more prevailent now. And that effect could impact on any spell cast in theory also. So my question now, is how many players have that ability on their toons and a failed run?

The following tests were conducted in an attempt to isolate what potential cause on the player side is on Heroic Elite (for speed):

1. Improved Deception.
2. Improved Destruction.
3. Vulnerability.
4. Sentient Weapon.
5. Non Sentient Weapon.
6. Familiar/Summon.

Variations of the above tested and the runs still fail (Lailat remains in AtDQ at the end).

Still to test (to eliminate player side as the issue):

A. Lower dps (bare basics)
B. Reset Enhancements
C. Reset Destiny
D. Remove Cosmetics

Will do these after the update.

So essentially, we still don't have any clue what is causing the issue?

Has ANYONE been able to successfully complete the raid recently?

And still NO dev acknowledgement of this issue?

The raid is fine. (At least for me)


It's the pre-raid flagging quest that is having trouble.
You still complete it, you just don't get an end chest.

For another minor data point, this happened to me a couple days ago.

Zergging on heroic elite with a level ~22 toon, just so I could get flagged.

Aura warlock, no familars, pets, or summons.

Ty I had the misapprehension that it was the raid too.

I had the same thing happen in heroic as a pure fighter, no familiar, no other people / summons in party. I blamed it on DPS/killing her too fast/lag but didn't try again to see (favor cleanup) and instead moved on to something else.

Run 1: Level 28 Warlock with carceri storm pact, Epic R2. Solo Run. Character used eldritch blast or cone and spells. No weapon attacks but does use sentient queens scepter. Has a feydark familiar but it was not summoned.

Run 2: Level 16 Inquisitive (Ranger, Arti, Rogue), Heroic R2. Solo Run but had cleric parked at shrine. No familiars or pets. Cross bow attacks using rat catcher.


I don't seem much cross over between those two runs to point to a player triggered issue.

I am not certain if this is always happening or if there are cases where there are successful runs. If the latter, you may want to check the order of the rooms in case that is a factor.

I had the same bug, EE on Feb 20th. I solo'd (with Frogo) so i'm sure the cause wasn't killed-her-too-quick.

Will look into room order later on, want to eliminate all possible player end "faults" first. Once that's done, can go check on the rooms. If it's not that either, it's definitely something on the Dev side then. Possibly even related to when they changed it from part of the raid to only being a normal flagging quest. But only way to check that is on the Dev end looking at the code. I just do it the hard way and eliminate everything that can be done and hopefully find causes (and hopefully solutions, or workarounds until it's fixed properly).

Again, until the Devs chime in, I'll take any and ALL data to help track this down. Just make sure you actually provide relevant info, and not just "it didn't provide a chest after completing" (the thread essentially is the proof that there's an issue, but because there's no Dev talk here, all we can do is check for commonality elements and then eliminate stuff on the stuff we do have in common; and that's basically all gear, abilities, etc on the player side so that the Devs have less stuff to look at to find the root cause, or until we find the issue ourselves).

Just had this again, on a THF barb with no familiars or pets. I was overlevel on HE, and the beatdown did go quite fast.

Room order was Snake, Octopus, Wolf, Scorpion, Monkey, Bat.

happened in the guild raid yesterday too, heroic reaper 1

Bug still happening on heroic:

Solo lvl 15 with hireling (Larafay).

Over-levelled.

Order: scorpion, bat, wolf, octopus, snake, monkey

Arti/ranger/rogue inquisitive. Ratcatcher with conjured bolts.

I just ranged her down to zero got quest completion /flag.

But I don't think I got the quest exp - did anyone else notice this?

Still investigating but we think this is halo from the "mass frog" fix that was breaking some quests interacting with the Demon Queen's custom exit drama in an unexpected way.

Are any other bosses doing this behavior?

The protection against a sudden removal without it being damage based, probably is some type of code/script that now has something checking for this happening, and thus because Lailat is a Boss (and shouldn't be removed), it means the protection they implemented probably just spawns her right back out because it thinks something is trying to remove her in a fashion that shouldn't be possible. And hence the issue that we're now in.

that makes sense. We don't actually get to kill her in ADQ. When she hits 0 (or something close to it) she is whisked away (ie removed from fight) to fight another day in Zawabi's revenge. If torc is right, that event is conflicting with the Frog changes that prevents things from getting "frog"ed (ie removed from fight) if they are not eligible. Thanks to all for beating this dead frog until SSG came to dissect it.

I encounter this in Madstone last night when rescuing the Shamans. I would talk to one and it looked like it was teleporting out then reappeared and could not be interacted with. (edit: this did not break the quest as it still saw the interaction and the Shaman was waiting at the next crystal).

I would hazard to guess any quest interaction where the target you are speaking with would teleport out, may come back.

not bosses but the converted little scorpions in Claw of Vulkoor. The text says the crawl into your backpack—and the quest DOES advance—but they continue running about. Oddly they aggro giants onto them

Maybe related:
One of the prisoners in Impossible Demands will run to the door but not exit. The optional to free everyone was not completable.

I don't know if it's related....the behaviour is almost the exact reverse, but the last few times I have run Partycrashers (heroic) and gone to kill Inkrakos (the optional after completion), I have successfully killed him and gotten access to the chests, but the objective doesn't complete, so no xp.

That's been going on for a while now though, so probably not directly related to the new ADQ nonsense.

My cousin has been through ADQ on two different characters in the past few days and bumped into the same problem, though.

Frogging the first Rakshasa Lord in Servants of the Overlord still bugs the quest. Drow Priestess won't go hostile and spiders won't spawn.
Tested again right now.
