I just hopped onto the newest build of Lamannia, and there's a major bug with repeater reload times.
On my level 20 Artificer / 5 Epic, the reload speed is basically going as if I did not have the Rapid Reload and Rapid Shot feats, and have a BAB of 0. In fact, it actually seems to be a bit slower than that.
They seem determined to ensure nobody ever plays ranged classes.
They obviously tried to fix the ranged to hit issue, business as usual...
edit: NEW: Ranged weapons now land grazing hits.

Bows seem to work fine. And yes, I'm seeing hits on rolls from 2-8 again, so that's very nice.

same here on my lvl 25 mech rogue with both rapid shot/reload feats. This sucks, I hope it doesn't go live like this...

The increased reload times are simply not playable.
If this goes live, say goodbye for every repeater toon.
It is kinda funny they did not notice this... I mean, how did they test that the grazing hits are working again, internally? Did they use a ranger only?
Did they just not notice? Not play enough real characters to know the proper speeds they should be reloading at?
Poor testing procedures, yet again... sigh. Guess my arti will stay shelved, as it has been since the update, along with several other characters.
Let me make a prediction for you guys.
In the future this will hit live exactly like it is now.

Pretty sure their main test character is a level1 warforged barbarian. He is armed with a shuriken for ranged purposes, and carries no melee weapons (uses unarmed attack to verify melee animations are correct).Quote:

Between the knock to potency and the no grazing hits my arty went from loads of fun to needs a lot of work to make functional. I actually failed Beyond the Rift on epic normal. Granted it happened because the wizard near the end dismissed me with a prismatic ray, but he would have been dead by that time with my preupdate dps.
I think arty is looking way too not fun for me now. Arty is moving up the list of toons to be TR'd next.
Have to make druids look better somehow, I suppose.

Quite that simple... FACT BEING, I think it would be a grave mistake for the Devs to knowingly create a worse ISSUE than that which is already on live.

Turbine, you need to simply revert back and try to fix the original bug at a later date.
A lot of folks are tied to their ranged toons, this one's gonna make a lot of people unhappy...
Great, just when I thought 14.2 was going to be time to play my arti again.
This sucks. I JUST TR'd the ONLY character I played into an arti right before the grazing hits bug... now another bug to keep me on a DDO break.

[Actually, I'm dreading this hitting live as well. Arty's have been my only interest in playing, even at my horribly Casual pace, in a while.]

Can we please get a dev response on this? It completely breaks the game for many people...
Customers suspect that Turbine are going to let this bug go live, to convince all the people who bought Arti's to go buy druids.
These angry people will do not do so, devs.
And one of you needs to answer us, and tell us that either
a) you're reverting back to the old, broken code, since it's better than the garbage on lam.
or
b) you've fixed both, and it's on lam today available for testing.

I know, I know, you're all real busy making cosmetic pets, and trying to convince us to invite our friends, but you're going to lose even more people with this garbage.
I'm really tired of constant gamebreaking bugs. Yes, this isn't gamebreaking if you don't play an arti, but if that is your primary character, well you're S.O.L. I mean, I have other characters I can play, but I've been working on my artie the most, and the fact that I don't get a good artie focused Epic Destiny AND I've had to deal with ranged to hit bugs and now reload bugs (make no mistake, this is going live), well, it's just about enough to make me take a break until the Devs can sort out their problems.Quote:

Since it would appear that the testing Turbine does is wholly inadequate, fix it first, have the lamma folks test it, THEN push it through.

What you are all missing is that there is this one guy who has maxed their level and all their epic destinies and they got a really crazy awesome random lootgen repeater. They then min-maxed all of their feats, enhancements and destinies to make the absolute best use of that repeater. They are now killing mobs too quickly.
So, obviously repeaters are overpowered and need to be nerfed.
Nerfs and bugs, man. Nerfs and bugs...
Healing is more frustrating than ever, my wizard was doing too good so you nerfed her, broken Assassinate makes soloing on a rogue even more frustrating, playing my WF fighter went from sub-optimal to humiliating to have in a group... I just rolled up a repeater bard and this happens? What is there left that isn't broken now?

I am not so much worried about this going live. I am worried that this is WAI and not a bug.
If it is a bug, then those toons get parked until it is fixed (and after all else that has been done, they were the last to get parked).
If it is WAI....... that is another problem entirely. I cannot imagine it would be working as intended, but there have been some pretty silly things done recently, so I dunno..... scary.... very, very scary....

This needs fixing, and I hope that the PM communication referenced earlier in the thread transforms into an announcement that this is not working as intended and that the reload speed will remain unchanged.
In my view, if we put aside the bugs for a moment, they got Artificers more-or-less right.
They're far from top-tier DPS but they are so **** versatile that they're the perfect soloing toon and very well-balanced. They come close to top-notch trapping, but don't have Evasion and therefore struggle in some circumstances; this is fine, as careful and knowledgeable play can circumvent that drawback at the cost of additional time (and the occasional trap to the face). They get a couple of potent spells, which is great, but they don't have the spell-point pool to spam them so you have to choose your moments; this is also fine. By cramming the inventory with specialist repeaters and associated peripherals - plus their weapon-morphing buff spells and Blade Barriers - they can be effective trash-clearers whilst still not eclipsing other toons in big fights. They can contribute well to the boss damage, sure, but there's nothing that compares with 4-figure barb/kensai crits or DoT+SLA DPS... and that's fine, too. They don't have the UMD of a tricked-out Bard, but their class enhancements to caster level make them the perfect Batman toon for pulling odd effects off wands, scrolls and clickies that nobody saw coming and wasn't expecting you to be able to deliver and I absolutely adore that.
I could wish that rune arms weren't so rubbish (I almost never fire mine when soloing except at portals and the odd mob that can't move, as they're too slow and unwieldy for the sort of highly-mobile combat you have to engage in with nobody else to draw aggro) and there are other things I'd address like the horrible consequences of the spellpower system for their gear, but basically Artificers have kept me playing when I was losing interest.
My main is an Artificer, I'm just finishing off my 4th life; I'll spare you the toon history and just say that I've never put so much effort into a toon, and likely never will again.
Please devs, I'm asking as nicely as I know how, please just pop along to the thread and tell us whether or not you intended to nerf repeater fire rates. If not, fine, it's a bug and my Arti can sit on a shelf along with my cleric and my WF FvS until the Love Train trundles by and fixes it.
