1 - Does the Doublestrike apply to my main weapon or to my shield
2- Is Guardbreaking working right? According to the description it is supposed to daze, but instead it is applying hypnotism which means it will break a split second later with my next swing. Is this intended?
After some testing on a dummy I believe the double strike does apply to your melee weapon.
As for the guardbreaking...I cannot say.
Its actually Sapping them. And that is dazing...
1. Melee.
2. That is exactly what happens under a Daze effect.

Note that DDO is real time vs. turn based. (stated so if you try to bring up dazed from the srd.)
For a time (maybe it still is) that the Sap attack which dazes creatures also was breaking on the sneak attack application, which was not intended. Aka..
broken
hit -> dazed -> sneak attack applied -> undazed.
not broken
hit -> sneak attack applied -> dazed.
Which means any attack breaks a "dazed" creature out of "daze".
The major thing between Dazed and Hypo should be duration. How long does it last from the shield, I have no clue. I'm too busy killing.

It procs on crits and seems about the only thing immune to it are undead.

So your crits (in other words it procs more often with high crit weapons equipped) or mobs crits? That seems like a odd mechanic, it means characters with axes or hammers are getting much less use from it...
I dazed the reaver last night, not that it's particularly useful. But I could see some uses under certain circumstances in a higher functioning group like a Guild run; The tank might equip a high base crit named weapon (plus improved crit feat) if they found the need to regroup and get things back under control... Say for instance, in a failing hound to give you time to charm puppies.
Even in the epic run (lvl 25) of the cove my shield was sapping Gregor (lvl 32 red named boss) and I left him for 5 mins without it breaking. It is an awesome cc tool if it stops groups of them to allow you to focus on 1 mob at a time.
I dusted my old S&B toon with Bsword prof and gave him one of these shields. Gonna do some testing to see if it procs on glancing blows. Havent really run him since that night.
When you roll a natural critical the Sap effect goes off. To prove that have someone cast Hold on your target. Even though you are getting Crit's the Sap effect isn't triggered until you actually roll in your critical threat range.Quote:

I think it works out good and seems if a raid goes bad have the shield holder whomever they are hit the boss so you may regroup if things are going badly.
The daze works on pretty much anything and lasts for an excessively long time. Riposte seems weak (10-20 damage with a low proc rate). Doublestrike seems to be working properly (affecting your weapon's attacks).
so to get it to proc daze are you swinging once, then if you get a crit you back away? If not, swing again? Is it proc'ing daze on shield attack or on weapon - i.e. shield crit or weapon crit? From above it seems weapon...which is pretty cool. doublestrike then daze on crit.
It proc's on weapon crit. So yes, you hit, check, hit, check, step away when it proc's.Quote:

Well, it is working as written. But as intended is different than written in some cases. ;)
I think it would work on any creatured, named or not, that is not purple.
Not in-game or I'd try it myself...
Is the Swashbuckler effect blocked by Epic Ward?
The daze effect now has a 5 second timer. Dramatic change. Usefulness of this effect is about worthless, IMO, now. 1 min time would make it useful.

Correct, today's update does include a change to the Swashbuckler Shield to put it in line with the item description, and no longer have it apply its Guardbreaking effect to bosses and raid bosses.

Just a heads up that I've now added this to the Release Notes.
I agree .. BUT didnt someone say right now there is no save? so if your using a high crit weapon like the scimitar from the event .. at a 15-20 crit range for non kensai's this would suggest that you are likely to see at least 1 crit every 5 or so seconds anyway if you have haste on. But i agree it prolly should be changed to a 1 min timer to keep its worth.Quote:

it's a Shield that seems to have been designed to buff S&B (unless you're one of those rare shield bashing builds ;) so nerfing the daze into near oblivion only made it less good for that.
It's a great shield, it just got a little less great, and in such a exaggerated way... Don't take something that works on everything and lasts forever and make it work only on trash and last for 5 seconds... at least start at a reasonable point like making it last a minute or even 30 measly seconds.

Swashbuckler shield is only good if you have a major ac toon .. other wise this change makes it pointless cause you do more dps twf and you get better proc's with leviks shield as well as higher DR by about 10 points. You lose 4 or 5 ac but that can be made up with a greater parrying weapon and leviks give or take a point.
For an EPIC shield upgraded to tier III .. its pretty Meh... unless your looking for top ac. Which pretty much means defender builds only.

How is it cool stuff? Howler Bracers affect ranged attacks, and Charged Gauntlets affect melee attacks. And the Swashbuckler affects melee crits, but not ranged crits according to the description. How does the Howler Bracers factor in with the other two items?Quote:
