This again. I do like to point out however, that with light armor, leaving some areas exposed isn't a big deal, or high priority (like I said, LIGHT armor here). In other words, the main priority of light armor is the area right below the ribcage, as that is really the most vulnerable large area. Your arms and legs are pretty tough, head solid, and all of those smaller and more mobile. Your ribcage helps with the upper torso and works pretty well, although you may want floating rib coverage. The human body is a lot tougher than people give it credit for, before I started doing SCA fighting I would have called you crazy if you said taking a swing from a baseball bat to the thigh wouldn't be utterly destructive, but after having had this essentially happen multitudes of times to myself, I can say that you'd be fine (still hurts like crazy though. I wear armor there now) unless it is a really, really hard blow (femur is pretty darn hard to break but when it does...). That being said, outer thighs would be my next priority.

I believe you know my opinion, as long as it's not tacky nor plain ridiculas looking... AC value I never really considered to reflect actual coverage because it's magical and other attributes contributing... I do not mind sensual or sexy as long as done so in taste.

People relate these things back to medieval armour... though I speculate they never really saw these things up close nor explained an' understood these things, i.e. I remembers asking a curator when I was young - Why were people so short in the fifteenth century? Too which he explained is a misconception armour was fitted, tailored if you will, however, plates were added in loose fitting so as to balance the weight and not restrict movement evened out to feel less than a few more kilo's on the wearer. Done told so a standing suit of an armour suit 152cm high was worn by some fella usually as tall as 172cm...

Yes I do, and I do give some consideration to it being "magical" in many instances. And I'm not really calling for perfect medieval armor, I want cool fantasy stuff too, but I do like it making sense, and I normally reference medieval armor as a way of pointing out how some things do or do not make sense.

That said, these things are magical, and expensive. They can look sexy or awesome or whatever, that's fine by me, I just like them to make a bit of sense, with light, medium, and heavy being appropriate to the types.

Not complaining, just hoping to see something classy in the store for female toons in upcoming releases.

I'd still argue that is should be practical. I don't want it to be medieval. Yes it's "fantasy," however, the best fantasy and science fiction has a set of rules and premises, and don't break them unless it is a critical plot point in the story. I don't expect it to be medieval. We have magic here, that makes it possible to make things in ways would be impossible in medieval armor, and make things in such a way that magic assists in mobility and such. But like I said, I still want to see things that are practical for the given armor category that it is in.

And again, all anyone is wanting here is practical. Can't tell you how hard it was to find the right armor skin for my female tank's Cavalry Plate since I wanted something akin to the classic style of Joan of Arc.

My wizard is a different story, I base a lot of my characters in DDO on what I have played in PnP, and the revealing robe skin that I found for her fit perfectly, but there were many to choose from.

Be honest. It really isn't about realism. You want a certain look, can't find it in the current options. That's the truth.

I wouldn't mind different options, if it was up to me, I'd want even more armor kits. I like VARIETY. Some toons I want in heavy armor glistening in the sun covered head to toe in steel. Some I want in a crazy fantasy armor that makes zero sense but looks interesting.

I don't go whining that heavy armor kits cover too much, why people whining that new kits don't cover enough? Just simply ask and suggest kits that you'd like to see on your toons. I'm sure SUGGESTIONS would be received a lot better than whining and calling the armor kits ****ty and whorish and calling people who want them all sorts of insulting names. (last part is more to the entire thread thus far than Nytcrawl in particular).

It's a combination of everything, realism, on some level, being part of that.

Also not whining, but thanks for the winning argument. Just trying to get more options in the game, not removing any of them, something that you just admitted to liking.

I don't think it is too much to ask for more practical armor skins, that's all some of us here want.

ok i dont mind them showing skin and all. just stop with the one shoulder pad stuff. that alone prevents me from buying most of it. why not do 2 pads? some of the skin pics were meant to be like an amazon warrior. some go light armor and not wear much to speed them up not slow them down.

i dunno know i just think there should be a variety of armor kits to make everyone happy from your strippers to your badass looks. some also just want that noble look as well.

My wife just said we better get a "Burka skin" before my daughter is old enough to play the game... I'm thinking that would make a wicked rogue!!!

I <3 the armor should cover bodyparts argument. How many of you /showhelmet off, or show only your goggles instead of your helmet? I can count on one hand the number of toons I've seen running around helmetless.

Giving people more choices is always a good thing. If people want a super fantasy feel, let them have it. If they want a pole dance feel, let them have it. If they want a more "traditional" feel, let them have that too. Here are two stock armor skins, full plate and studded leather, that look good and cover all the right places. And the pauldrons/spaulders/guardbraces (all names of shoulder protection that are slightly different from one another) are a realistic size and shape. I personally prefer models that would not (if actually worn) restrict side vision or have parts that stick out so much that they would get caught on just about anything from weapons to door jambs.

One large pauldron isn't all that odd. Most of the time you see it in armor used in jousting, because one side is much much more likely to be hit than the other. In any case its ridiculously large pauldrons that stick out like a foot off the shoulder that bother me.

Agreed on variety, although I still would rather the medium and heavy armors look appropriately as medium and heavy armors should. Light armor can get away with a lot.

I have /showhelmet off because most helmets (especially Greensteel) are hideously ugly.

Did ya know, the Mongolian's in thier conquests wore simple armour but schoolars considered them far more protected in range and hand to hand combat than the europeans they conqured? Be a simple leather hide and scaled vestment they wore ... as compared to european mail yet the most important semi-standard part of the mongolian warrior's dress was a silk vest... The Khan's be once said to have issued thier horsemen. Shall let you ponder as to why. ;)
