Well, maybe. The interesting thing is that I've got a VM set up with Windows 7 and VB6 installed and can compile the three applications. I've not done a lot of looking at the code, this was really a smoke test to see if I can get a build to work.
There's a lot for me to learn about the code. For example, I also know there's a web crawler in there to scrape the Enhancements from DDOWiki but I haven't found it.
I will say that it did take over 4 days to get a working Windows7/VB6 box going. This is obviously a big problem.
My plans for this are:
- Minor bug fixes, updates etc. Publish a build.
- Convert this to VB.Net 2008. That I believe is the last version to support the VB6-> .Net migration. (That will only make it 10 years old :-)
This will also mean breaking a whole lot of the application -VB6 control arrays were a neat feature, but don't persist into .Net.
Printing becomes much harder.- Convert the code base to C#. I'm not going to re-learn VB at this point in my life.
- Convert to WPF.
- Convert to some sort of MVC framework (MVVM)
- Convert to .Net core to support multi-OS.
I would say that 1's time frame is weeks, 2 & 3 will be months. 4-6 will possibly get done after that depending on my time.
I always thought that the web was always going to be a better platform than VB or C# or any native compiled languages.
Multi-platform out of the box, vast array of resources to deploy, tons of tech to choose from including - you can even use github pages if nothing else.
A couple of years ago I tried to this source code to JS, but VB totally defeated me and totally put me off.
Maybe I'll try again, seeing that I have now enough time on my hands.
I complied the data and put it in the planner for a new build here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...-2xG_VXH17KYNp
If you download all the parts, it should work (I tested it on a couple computers and ran some test builds through it). If you find a bug, please post it so people can fix it. I can try to get to fixes of this for a little while, but since I don’t play anymore and did this basically to help my husband out, I can’t guarantee I’ll be looking. It will hopefully get people started though.
It includes the alchemist feats, spells, and enhancements, the updates to change glancing blows to strikethrough, the hp changes, KotC, PM, various scattered changes in stalwart and SD, and the epic destinies. It should be up to date as of now, but I’m sure there are things I missed. Also thanks to Kinerd, peng, and SpookyNoodle for posting some compiled blocks of text and saving me time.
Be sure you replace the old builder exe file with the new one, or alchemist won’t work.
Thanks for posting this. FYI we also have a thread for the Github page which Amundir set up.
Thanks for this work, it's been disappointing that there's no current character planner that works with alchemist! However, Windows pretty vigorously blocks the main CharacterBuilderLite.exe as having a trojan virus. I'm guessing this is the same false positive from before but in a different file?
Getting close:

I've got to work on the enhancements and spells and then should be able to release with some testing.
OK - looks like I was able to dust of my 15 year old VB6 hat and build out a release of the Character Planner Lite!
https://github.com/ChristopherGLewis...OLiteTools.zip
Included are Alchemists, Alchemist trees, and Alchemist Feats.
Let me know what you think.
Huge thanks to everyone who's been helping out on trying to get this planner updated, most especially @Grace_ana and @ChicagoChris. Nice work everyone.
I haven't had a chance to really test either one out much, just a cursory lookthrough each. @Grace_ana's seems at first glance to be pretty complete, whereas @ChicagoChris's seems to be missing at least some ED changes. Both seemed fully functional however. I'll try and pipe up if I find anything else missing or non-functional.
Again kudos and thanks.

:D
I've updated the DDO Character Builder Lite to version 3.2.1 with changes to the Epic Destinies from U42
https://github.com/ChristopherGLewis...OLiteTools.zip
The various Epic Destiny changes should be correct as of today.
Chris!
Awesome work guys, kudos for keeping this going!
A request, no idea on the difficulty: Now that we have +8 stat tomes, can that be upped from +7?
Hmm. I'm only getting up to +7 on mine? Maybe because I overwrote these files on top of Ellis' originals so I wouldn't have to redo stuff?
Hmm. Looks like a couple of my builds are capping at +7, others are allowing +8. Odd.
A-HA! PEBCAK Error! The difference is heroic builds only going to 20 cap at +7 (because +8 applies at L22), and I didn't realize that the ones I'd tried I'd only put up to 20. Nevermind, carry on, nothing to see here!
