Hosts file editing is tricky on Vista/7, you have to launch Notepad first (Start > All Programs > Accessories) via right-click > Run as admin for it to be able to edit and then save changes since C:\Windows and subfolders are protected o.s. folders on 7/Vista. (Disclaimer though: I'd be wary of making any changes to hosts unless you are comfortable doing so.)
Where its getting disconnected (as the client is connecting) means either something is blocking dndclient.exe from establishing a connection or ports in 9000 to 9010/2900 to 2910 are still not available for it to use. You might want to try a temporary "clean boot" (steps here) just to see if its another app or service running that could be using the ports or blocking them.
If you haven't yet you may want to open a tech support ticket as well (or reply to one if you already have), detail in there that your on Suddenlink but that reports are indicating it should be resolved or resolving itself but you're still unable to connect. If its still something local to the network or SL/GC's routing we might not be able to help remedy it but we can definitely take a look and see if anything stands out.
One question I would ask is did you make any changes while this was occurring? If yes you may want to revert them to test.
Also I've seen some player responses saying a Suddenlink tech came to their house to work on the modem, it wasn't clear if this was prior to or during the issue or post the "should be working" stage but it's possible they may need to reconfigure their hardware at the residence level itself(?).
Same here, i have connecton problem Since 3/11/2011 all other games work well Lotro work fine no lag spikes but cant connect to DDO.
I have also been having this same problem since 3/11. However, I am not in TX nor am I on the same ISP as seems to be the common thread. I am actually in a hotel in Maryland using the IBahn ISP. I had the problem initially only once or twice and then I was able to log on after that. A few days later, I was not able to log on all day. The next day was no problem. And again today, I cannot log on at all. Simply get booted after the "20 of 20" try. If anyone has any additional information, please update status of this issue.
Okay....the strangest thing. I tried to connect again shortly after this post and it went through. I don't know what the problem is, but I hope it's not like this once I return to the UK as well.
Okay did the clean boot. Connected to Authentication server. Patching Done! no blue bar when receiving character data. 100% of 0K Completed.... Loading New Game Data.
Just hangs there.
Reverted everything back after clean boot, same thing. Closed dndclient. Added program permissions into McAfee firewall for Turbine Launcher, Turbine Invoker, Dndclient, and Dndlauncher. Opened ports Local TCP/IP ports: 9000-9013, 2900-2913. Connected to Authentication server. Patching Done! no blue bar when receiving character data. 100% of 0K Completed.... Loading New Game Data.
Again, just hangs there.
