Great to hear! i haven't run it since the patch.
Great to hear. I'd be interested in getting additional feedback on Defiler of the Just post-hotfix.
We ran today and we had instances of lag at the door when the 'ambush' spawns and at the end fight after the wurm. As a matter of fact, we wiped because we lagged on a 'point of death' but the dots finished her off and we could reach the rez shrine :D
Very little lag during the executioner spawning which is a great bonus.
(Small sample so far though so cross fingers)
Ran the raid like five times last night. It was so much better. Only issues I saw was towards the end during the multiple spawns of reinforcements, we had some pretty decent lag for a sec or two, but overall much much better.
Yeah the game feels more responsive, a tangible difference. Thanks for that. We still havent had a full 12 man group in there yet which will be the real test, but I'm optimistic based on what I've seen. You also fixed the lag monster of Omnipresence, which is great.
I'm still getting CTDs like some other forum users, but I'll take this improvement for now.
Thanks for the advice, I've tried four installs, into multiple directories and onto my HDD and SSD: still sadly not having any luck - 64bit win 7, 8gb 1866ram, i5 4470 and an nvidia 770, so my system doesn't look to be the problem.
That said I have also run the game on an old amd quadcore system with a 7870, slower ram, HDD and don't get the crashes, which is really strange.
Most of the runs yesterday were smooth short man.
In one run we had a full party with 3 warlocks and it COMPLETELY locked us up during the fight with the blades. It was as bad as pre-patch lag.
So it's either a full party thing or a warlock related thing, don't know.
I ran 5 raids tonight. The improvement is very noticeable. Well done Devs!
Could it be blades related? The worst lag in years gone by was in Shroud, after the blades appeared. That lag was apparently mitigated by changing how attack speed bonuses worked, to cut back on the number of packets flying back and forth, but I always wondered if the blades might be contributing too. Is it just a coincidence that the *entire game*, even outside of the new quests, began lagging once new content was introduced that added many blades to two new quests? And that Defiler consistently lags out during the initial blades fight? It may just be a coincidence, but the worst lag in the game has often been associated with battles involving blades....
I don't know if it is related but in my previous post about the lag, we were a warlock only raid plus 2 clerics and a paladin. Too much theory about how warlocks are causing lag is turning into worry :/
As for you my friend, it's definatelly a driver compatibility issue. Whenever an old system runs better a game than a new one, something's really wrong or incompatible with the drivers.
The walls tend to make executioners a pain for center spawns since they tend to rubberband faster so they need to be killed separately, The reduced agro range is nice though.
The patch seems to have increased issues with the end fight worm breath not drawing on the screen causing you to just die randomly on EE.
However the biggest issue with the current patch in my opinion is that it seems to have increased the number of archons that fall without a pillar of light and it has increased the frequency that a random third archon falls in one round.
With the new shoebox motif in the raid it becomes increasingly difficult to locate abishai without a beacon and since you no longer have decent line of sight it can be tough to notice that a third spawn has even happened.
The trash was always manageable through invising or just not pulling them into the tower while there is an active spawn.
The "fix" has the potential to possibly help an issue with trash that isn't a quest objective and could easily have been dealt with by slightly modifying your playstyle and group positioning.
It also increases the frequency and seriousness of bugs involving the fail conditions and the endfight and reduces the abilities of the players to even notice the issue let alone deal with it in a timely manner.
The trade of really doesn't seem worth it at all.
The effect lag out a whole instance thing getting fixed was awesome though.
Any chance the warlocks were using Evard's Black Tentacles? Last night I was doing some epic Gianthold flagging and we ran with a full party which included 2 warlocks. I didn't notice any lag, until they cast Evard's. Started with some significant slow down, then a short bit of lag. Maybe it was more slowdown than lag, but it was certainly noticeable.
