Is It Time To Return?

I've been on hiatus since the wife bought me Diablo 3 for christmas. But for the past week or so I've been getting the urge to renew my alt-itis addiction. So, heres the question for you friendly forumites.

Should I come back and play? If you can, give me your top 3 reasons that now would be a good time to renew my addiction. I would appreciate only positive feedback, but if you feel the need to be negative, go ahead! :D

I'm apprehensive about the akamai (sp?) thing. Is it terribly difficult to circumvent using 2nd party loaders?

Is there anything special/new that I need to be aware of? I have a few characters at level 20 on most of the servers and, iirc, I had my AA ranger ready for tr.

That's about all I can think of for now, have at it!

But with the Diablo 3 expansion that just released 2 days ago ... I can tell you I am not playing DDO at the moment.

U21 was very disappointing to me. Personal opinion.

1. Any toon you had at L20 by Jan 10 (or thereabouts) will have an epic heart in its inventory,
2. New quests in Eveningstar are supposed to be cool (I haven't checked them out yet).
3. It's always more fun after you've taken a break. For a while.

Big negetive is the Akamia thing, lots of workarounds explained in the forums though.

Only if he was vip in that period, and even then I think you had to log in on the toon in order to get the heart. So either he got them before he left, or he's out of luck.

OP: I think the game is cooler than ever, despite various disappointments about loot, bards still being fubar'd, and other issues. But U21 was aimed mostly at highlevel players; if you only have L20's athat you want to TR, not too much has changed since christmas. You may want to sign in though and check out the aniversary box; there's some really cool stuff in there.

Ahh yeah, you're probably right about that.

Come back. It's a fun game. Ignore the negativity on the forums. Ideally, stop reading the forums entirely, except for release notes.

I recently came back after about a two year absence. I can't decide if I'm glad I did, because I'm having fun, or if I regret it, because I'm wasting a lot of time now on a game. That's about the best you can hope for out of an MMO.

U21 is great. New area is awesome and can be challenging, which also makes it fun.

Yeah most updates are like that, you buy them and then you have to play them :/

You might need to wait for u24 when the cap goes up to 30. This way you can buy it and then pay more to skip over it.

No kidding? Anyway, not replying any further, this has nothing to do with the OP, to whom I suggested to come check for himself.

ps: confusing character levels and content isn't correct.

1. 2 new raids for endgame + explorer area
2. new Haunted Halls quest is really great and fun
3. Anniversary cards for free +3 tomes and other stuff

Why? Doesn't look like there will be anything else for you to Pay to win for rest of the year.

Come back and give it a try - at least run through Haunted Halls a few times, it's an awesome quest :)

New content looks and plays AWESOME and is a ton of fun! Excellent content update.

Akamai is a piece of garbage. But it make no sense to not play the game because its in the background.

Diablo III: fun for a few but lets be honest, its NOT the game we've been waiting 10+ years for. I was diehard DI and II player. Its a totally different game. AND its got the REAL MONEY TRANSFER Auction House. Hell to the GT*O!

No reason not to give it another go, it is free after all. If you're in with the weirded out by Akamai crowd they've found ways to avoid it.

We have a RMAH. D3 does not, anymore.

I say log in and decide for yourself. Find your own 3 reasons to stay, and if you can't then log back out for a while.
Nobody else can make the call for you.

Akamia's netsession does not really seem to do anything but sit there, there is an initial send off from each login to Akamai server with some blah blah blah(user name, directory, OS, yada yada yada) in it. You can kill it after each session, but if you play DDO again it will download again. And you will have to read and approve the EULA again. I do it all the time.

New part is a cool reflecting mirror/laser puzzle. TWO red dragons at the same time, and they chase you.

This year's Birthday cards are an amazing giveaway. This birthday card event is tons better than Festivult.

If you enjoyed it before, you will still enjoy it.
