Make Level 6 in destiny count towards Fate points.

Currently, destinies gain no benefit from their last rank - after getting to lvl 5 and getting 4 'AP' ranks, there's no point in getting that last rank - no reward for it. It's kinda wrong. 1 more level towards fate points would be cool, while not gamebreaking.

This might be obvious for some, but for me, Level 5+(5 ranks) effectively means Level 6. And, to rephrase my plea, i want 5+(5 ranks) to be treated as Lvl 6 in aspect of fate points - because, as it is now, Level 5+(5 ranks) counts as level 5 in this aspect. This should not be 5+(5 ranks), it should be 6 - it's a matter of simple fractions. 5+(5/5) = 6. make it count as 6.

Some clarification would be nice on this, just noticed this about 30k into rank 25 that there's no benefit from capping it. Is this verified?

Am pretty sure it does not due it's -1xp short from six. Leaving us with (5*10) /3 = 16,66

Perhaps they're leaving room open for levels 26-30? As far as PnP goes, those are the remaining 'Epic' or 'Immortal' levels, and thus the last levels PCs can actually play at (since anything past that means they've ascended to diety-hood). So it's a likely bet they'll be added at some point.
In the meantime, I guess it's just best to view it as an investment to the future? :P

As far as fate points go, if they add more destinies as planned, that crunch should hopefully soon be alleviated.

I can confirm that rank 26 of Draconic Incarnation gave me no benefit whatsoever, and in terms of Fate points, still counts as lvl 5. I was surprised, i was indeed expecting that it would count as having level 6 in destiny and I can't see why it is done like that, to have a dysfunctional rank atop every destiny. Seems pointless.

that was the case in BECMI era D&D.

it is not the case in 3.x, which lets you get as many levels as you care to (though frankly, the epic rules in PnP don't really work very well imo)

That is flat out incorrect, though I believe it's due to a confusion in what I was discussing.

I'm not talking mechanical limitations- you can get any number of levels you want, as you mentioned- but actual classifications.

In EVERY Advanced Edition of D&D, the categories have been:
1-20: Mortal
21-30: Immortal (Or, as of 3rd edition, 'Epic')
31-40: Demi-Gods
41-60: Full Gods

Vecna, or Lloth pre-ascension, or Hercules post-ascension, were all level 35~ ranged.

Epic level play in pnp specifically is based on the epic level range, which is 21-30.
This is due mostly to the fact that post-epic levels, you've ascended into deityhood (or, in the case of Vecna, faked it) and no longer have any constant direct interaction with the mortal planes.

It's the difference between being on tier with devils and archangels, and on being on tier with demi-gods.
In the first category, just like those creatures, you still roam the planes freely. In the second, you don't.

Unless Turbine specifically breaks that D&D standard, then we're capped at level 30 in the game.

Besides, given that we're already fighting Greater Deities [That's the 50-60 level range, by the way] I don't think we'll have the material for post-30 play anyway ;)

So, in summary: I was talking about logistical and structural limitations :)
For now, it's best to work off of the pnp standard on it, especially given, as I mentioned, the degree of enemies we're already fighting, and assume we'll be capped at 30, not higher.

Back on topic: The lack of a destiny point not only has already been confirmed post-expansion release, but was already noted back in Beta by the Devs [as per their clarification that each Destiny would be capped at level 5 with 24 action points].

So there's no need to offer extra confirmation on it :)

The way I see it is, it's the same way as capping at 20 was before, except we're not getting freebie points: However, the devs are still allowing us to make progress toward potential future level increases.

We don't HURT from the extra rank, so lets appreciate it for its potential, for what it is.

I keep seeing references to 30 being the 'top' of epic levels. Is this a 4.0 thing or something? Because in the Epic Level Handbook (3.0 and not really properly revised to 3.5) there was no cap that I know of.

I know in earlier (and far earlier, since 'Immortal' is mentioned) there were some caps there, but I believe DDO is still based on 3.5...

Rewarding 1/3 of fate point wouldn't hurt tho. And, based on /signed posts, this would make sense to some of players.

For casual player, this change means getting better twists earlier, and for power-gamer who maxes every destiny - it means adding up to 4 fate points total - which would let to upgrade/add 1 twist slot at best, as illustrated below:

My understanding of the system might be flawed tho.

Note that, IF additional destiny levels would be added, change proposed in OP won't have any impact - as you will get those levels anyway - this change just adds consistency, as currently, players reach XP needed for lvl 6 of destiny, but are not rewarded accordingly.

Did end of Magister 5 to 6 on my PM, saw no benefits what so ever.

Regret doing that much of Magister 5.

I have looked at it and wondered why it was not set up this way in the first place. It just makes sense.
