We are sorry!

Dear Turbine:

We are sorry that we complained about hireling healers. We are sorry that we said they were stupid. We are sorry that we made unkind remarks about the people who programmed their AI. I hope you accept this apology so we can move forward in our relationship.

If you can accept our apology, I might suggest returning hireling healers to their pre-U9 programming. If you do this I promise we will never complain again. Well, at least I won’t because I got the message. I understand what you are trying to get us to see... things could be worse.

So please, put the hireling healers back to where they will heal those who buy the contracts, not the other hireling healer in the party. And please don't have them engage in battle anymore when my hitpoints drop below 20%. Have them focus on me and only me. When I purchase a hireling healer I want it to focus on keeping me alive, like they did before U9.

So, again, we are sorry. We know we needed to be punished for our complaining, but please lets move forward and return hirelings back to their pre-U9 state.

Yes!! Please just make them heal me as a priority. I only bring cleric hirelings for 3 reasons. They are in order.

1. Heal ME !!!
2. Rez me if I die (If you or I managed to screw up #1)
3. Cure my ailments, curses, etc..

Anything else.. that's just gravy, and something we can easily do without.

While I agree they are seemingly dumber than before (if that was even possible), but I really like the fact that the clerics I use are no longer humping my butt while I'm busy kicking a$$. I really appreciate the fact they are generally now giving me space to fight, thus keeping them out of a direct line of fire. I, and my hireling friend, are dying considerably less due to this minor change.

However, I and my companions are dying more often due to the clerics other odd behaviour. Just last night I was in Made to Order on elite and my hireling cleric was busy doing whatever and I tried to get her to heal a friend and she ignored my commands even after the battle was finished. I had to have her come to me then she began responding properly again...

The only time I want my Cleric hireling to attack something is when I target said something and press the "Attack" button. Otherwise, just heal the group, and remove (if within their powers) any other nasty ailments that are inflicted upon us. (Just like a "real" cleric, only without the attitude ;) )

in one of the adventures, the one where you need a healer to keep the main guy alive from the sahagan attack. i ordered my healer to protect him. and he went through all of his spell points even before the attack began really. i won it but barely.

I think this is about the 5th "Please fix the cleric AI because U9 made it suck!!" thread.
I've signed every single one of them. I even submitted bug reports..

2. The idiot hireling just stands in traps.. Please make them move!
3. The idiot hireling is healing things he/she isn't supposed to, wasting their SP.
4. The idiot hireling doesn't stay when I click STAY !!
5. The idiot hireling is aggro'ing on defensive mode or guard mode!

I just love the way the 20lvl FvS "heals" my ele right after it is summoned, over and over and over again.

I would appreciate if the dev team would look into the cleric hireling's obsessiveness to jump into water/lava...and stay there.

it was very frustrating to fight doomsphere in litany with my cleric diving underwater the entire time. maybe she was trying to save her own skin, who knows :P

I also think it is silly of them, when put into defensive mode, to stand there and scream "I need healing right away!" instead of just healing themselves ><

Same with my Winter Wolf. I'm standing there at ~50% hp, and the wolf gets priority on the cures. :rolleyes:

Yup, saw that, too, just yesterday in Searing. I jump into a mass, then realize the other dot isn't next to me. Click "Get Over here!" button, and manage to catch a glimpse of pet cleric - not port to me... not run across the bridge that's RIGHT THERE! ... not even stop and cast a cure on me from the other side of the lava creek.... :(

Runs right into the creek and sinks to the bottom. Dies. Beyond reach. (at least that part was appropriate, cuz that's what I'da done with her stone had she not done it herself. Hmph.

Some of the events that inspired me to start this thread...

As I am wondering why my hireling (Marrissa Lorle) is not healing me (I am below 50%) I see her throw a heal on Fayden (my buddy's hireling) who is herself a cleric and near full health. So instead of healing her 'boss' she is healing the other hireling healer because that is more important. Maybe the hirelings have formed a union?

Next time I ran out of a room to avoid dying and was wondering what my hireling was doing. This time I am below 25%. I see her running away from me back into the mobs to fight. Seriously?

The next one is similar. As I am clicking on the 'heal me' button on my hirelings bar, I die while she is casting searing light at mobs and totally ignoring me.

Last example, we shrine and begin buffing. My buddy's hireling takes off up the hallway to engage the mobs. She sprints away from us. Stupid zerger!


The hirelings have become a detriment to our parties. They are so bad now it is better to run without one.

Lvl 19 cleric, soon to be 20.
-I won't stand in a trap wondering what that bright flash is that surrounds me
-I hit the heal button when i see your precious red bar dropping
-I think before i spend some of that precious blue stuff on my second bar
-I'll stay if you ask me to stay, no need to hit the button over and over
-I'll follow you if you ask me to follow
-I won't aggro anything if you ask me to be defensive or on guard
-I keep a close eye on you, and won't run off down the hall to find something else to play with while you're fighting your bumm off
-I send a cure/remove when i see a nasty swirl above your head, no need to ask
-I heal myself if things ain't going as you planned them to go
-I will go offensive if you like to hide behind me for sneaks

-I....wait, i do this allready, but i'm not getting payed for it like the store/vendor hires......I thought i had the brains benefit me from the payed ones, but you have me thinking now
