Do not allow for a spell swap every hour after the first two weeks of update 9

My information is a little unclear so if I am incorrect on my information as to a spell swap every hour please disregard this suggestion developers. I would like to voice my displeasure as to a spell swap every hour change beyond a limited time frame. A limited time frame of perhaps two weeks of swapping a spell every hour make sense because it allows sorcs, bard, fvs, to try out the new spells. I am adamantly opposed to a time frame beyond limited for these classes for spell swaps because it diverges too far from D&D what this game is based on.

It should be a tough decision to decide on a wizard or a sorcerer in D&D and a part of this decision is the limited spell selection a sorcerer has. A few years ago a ranger use to be able to swap out their favored enemies every three days for raids due to the ease of swapping and their being little to no time restriction for swapping and now currently that no longer is the case. I think a sorcerer should have the same basic restriction of not being able to swap spells out prior to different raids. I can swap for raid a and then raid b within 2.66 days later should not be possible. Swapping a spell every hour restriction just means a sorcerer has to decide from quest to quest but there is little restriction on raid from raid; furthermore, a sorc can swap out 50+ spells between raid timers which is not remotely in line with D&D. I am having a hard time with possible future fortification divergances much less such basic spell rules divergances.

Is this D&D even remotely anymore or should we just call this Turbine's game?

The current limitations to spell changing (one spell every 3 days with a plat cost) won't be changing in Update 9. A new item called Dragon's Blood will allow for free spell exchanges for the duration of the item, which is only 1 hour. From what I've heard, there's only 2 ways to get it: First is every Sorcerer and Favored Soul will get 1 when Update 9 releases. Second is with "Agents of Argonessen" favor. I sincerely hope it won't become a DDO Store item.

that isn't how it works.

The potion of dragon's blood gives you a 1 hour buff that lets you swap spells for zero cost and without any cooldown. After that hour ends, you have to buy another in order to reconfigure your spells.

I'm not even sure this will be a ddo store item as much as a limited-use thing, primarily because it would require every sorceror in the game to lesser reincarnate in order to be anything but a fire or cold savant.

On Lamannia it is a ddo store item.

I don't imagine there would be many players willing to consistently spend 150 turbine points to reconfigure their entire spell selection between raids, especially with enhancements on the same 3 day cooldown.

It would quickly become prohibitively expensive to use dragon's blood potions in this way. They're simply a free spell respec for the limited classes in light of the fact that the quality and nature of their spell choices changes radically with these kind of updates.

What about us Wizards? Why can't we get an item too! I want to be
able to swap my spells as well due to the changes.

Yet again Turbine ignores the poor wizards while lavishing free items
on the already over pampered Sorcerers.

such an item is called a "scroll". use one, and then whenever you feel like changing spells, you can just go to a tavern or rest shrine.

so far as i know, the only scroll not confirmed to have been found on lammania in chests at the very least is scorch, which you should only consider taking for flavor anyways because from everything i have heard it is terrible.

Yea you got some bad info norg. Not happening.

What is happening:

Blood of Dragons potion being added to the game.
While the potion is active, all spell swap costs and timer, are disabled. So you swap every single spell in that hour. After the hour is up, things are back to normal.

The potion will be available in 2 places forever:
1 - 75 favor reward from agents of argonesson. Cool imo, since its a1 shot deal and i love that they are paying attention to favor rewards.
2 - DDO Store.

and 1 place, as a 1 shot deal:
Free in the inventory of all current Bards, Sorcs and Favored souls, after you log in post U9 on a chracter created pre U9. I believe you get 2, but possibly only 1.

So yea, ppl that use the ddo store to cheat the game mechanics, get yet another way to do so. Not a surprise. I'll continue with my own rule of NEVER purchasing items that could otherwise be obtained ingame (even if only in a 1 shot form like this).. and others can do what they please long as it doesnt effect me too directly.

So then, you'll be buying Dragon's Blood potions from the store if you want to.

Since they can "otherwise" be obtained in the game by getting Argonessen favor.

Actually I was just making a joke. Of course wizards can just use a shrine or tavern. But it did get me thinking. Does anyone know if this item can be used in a quest?

There may be some cases where swapping spells inside a quest would benefit both wizards and sorcerers. Whether it would benefit enough to justify the cost is a harder to answer.

Odds bodkins, I hope not! The intention is to allow sorcs/bards/FVS the ability to do a complete spell swap for respec purposes. I had assumed this would still require a trip to the trainer - can anyone confirm that is still a requirement with the dragonsblood buff in place?

To give any caster - any caster - this flexibility mid-quest just by using an item available in the store would be totally wrong. Wizards and clerics get the benefit of being able to swap spells at a shrine. That's their class benefit. Sorcs, bards, FVS have to visit a trainer, and have restrictions on how many spells they can swap at once. I have no objection to a store bought item that lets them remove some/all the limitations on how many spells can be swapped at once, but I would not be in favour of anything that removed the 'NPC-only' restriction.

No. Spell swapping has to be done at your classes trainer. Its the same swap mechanic as swapping 1 spell every 3 days.

All blood of dragons does is reset spell swap 3 day timer, remove the cost of exchanging a spell at the trainer, and prevents the 3 day timer from starting when you have swapped a spell so you can continue swapping your spell list till the hour is up. Once the hour is up you do not go on 3 day timer though. So ,if you made a mistake you can exchange 1 spell after blood of dragons timer ends for the normal spell swap plat cost and be on a 3 day timer till you can swap again.

Will the argonesson reward definetly be a one shot deal ? If so I am cool with the change .

Are just two free ones then one time favour and store bought (I cannot imagine many people going crazy on TP) ... lasts an hour. Even if they added it to loot tables like a lesser heart I would not think be wide spread enough that bards and sorc gain a wizard type feature out of it.

Go to the shrine/tavern and swap spell then its not like there are goobs of new spells to change to and you can go buy the scroll from the shop. they need to add lvl 8/9 anyway as it is totally unfair to just the wizard not that there are many spells of worth.

don't worry some of us made the roll :)

Wizard scroll options would be nice. Even in BTC form from the store.

If the store version has a one week cooldown and so it functions like a cheaper LR, I'd be fine with it.

I think it's a excellent use of points; a Item that won't alter or change the game experience and allows a player to swap spells - something that person can do once every so many days anyways.

Now all we need is green steel deconstruct.

It would be the same as any other Argonessen reward. You can't unring the favor bell to get a second portable hole.

Praytell, which shop sells the scrolls of scorch, Niac's Biting Cold, Electric surge, and I'm not sure if there's anything else?
