Drow Build Request

I was wondering what would work better:

A pure paladin drow or a mixed drow ranger-paladin.

I prefer to be an offensive player. I almost unlocked drow to create a char with it.

Paladin for the good fighterboost and the ability to use wands. Ranger perhaps for being good also at a distance with a good looking bow.

What would be better? pure Paladin or the Multi-class one? And any suggestive build? Already have one for the pure Paladin, but would be happy to get a good one for the mixed one.

Are this classes mixable?

I'm not sure that ranger/paladin is a good multiclass regardless of race choice.

I can see some rationale for paladin 3/ranger 12/something 5 (probably monk but maybe rogue if you don't have monk).

But, I can't think of any real reason to go ranger/paladin for the bow use bit as you suggest.

IMO pure paladin is a better choice. Keep in mind that paladins can use bows just like any other martial class. And also remember that melee combat is the norm in DDO. That means ranged combat is very situational and, in most cases, not worth the investment of feats or class splashes.

If you were thinking half-elf or elf for the arcane archer racial PrE on a paladin build it might make some sense to take a ranger 1 splash or to invest in ranged feats. But, on a drow it makes no sense at all.

Dont mix ranger and paladin. Also (not my opinion) but most of the game considers ranged attacking gimp. To be truthful it wont do much damage especially in a ranger splash. Rangers usually go TWF and tempest. Id recommend either pure paladin, or pure ranger.

Tips:
For a paladin you need a bit of charisma, and wisdom for spells. But put most of your points into Strength and Constitution. If you will easily be able to get +6 wisdom items dont put any point sinto wisdom. But if you dont think you will then boost it up to 10.

Ranger- Ranged fighting is considered gimp as i said before. Id recommend taking the Tempest line, it will give you more DPS. Like with a paladin if you will be able to get a +6 item easily dont put any points into wisdom, but if you wont boost it up to 10. Also you wont need charisma. For TWF (Which rangers get for free) take a khopeshe feat and OTWF.

That was from when I wanted to make a Drow, and thought about Paladin or possibly Ranger. The Drow Paladin I created from that build suggestion has quickly become my favorite! (Until she hits endgame, I'm keeping her in Hunter of the Dead and taking all the extra Lay on Hands enhancements.)

Well, you can do that but you'll find that fights are a lot faster if you melee because the damage output is so much higher.

But, you can do a lot of things when you only solo that you should not do if you are grouping. Ranged combat is one of those things.

that is why i like solo.

Oh how I long for back in the day: 14 Paladin / 6 Ranger. So smexy.

if you go paladin, go paladin. paladin is VERY strong as a pure class. the only thing i would consider is a Rogadin... (18 pally 2 Rogue)

Bear in mind this is an old build from back in the day when Tempest I and Zeal provided stacking +10% attack speed boosts. Both have since been nerfed: Tempest I only provides +10% offhand proc chance and Zeal provides 10% double-strike chance. IMHO given the nerf and the high feat pre-reqs for Tempest I, this combo is no longer worthwhile, unfortunately.

The good news is a drow TWF pure paladin is still a solid build, esp. if you don't have 32-pt builds unlocked yet.
