It is obvious that they nerfed the speed of ranged combat. I do not know why they would do this. Manyshot is the only time where a bow ranger makes his money. There is a pause before every shot now, why is this?

(in all seriousness, it's probably a side effect of them fixing "disappearing" shots, but no one is going to care if the fighting style is still worthless)
I am hoping its an unintentional side effect of some other change and that it can be resolved quickly. Certainly can say based on test with my arcane archer that overall dps is WAY lower whether or not some shots are there that would have disappeared before. Cmon, some of us have played these toons for years and only recently finally have been able to get some manageable dps. Take it away so quickly?

I just stood in the middle of house K. Level 12 Ranger / 6 Ftr / 2 monk. Silver bow, silver arrows.
On Lammania - 56 shots per minute
On Thelanis - 56 shots per minute
Now, there may still be a change. Did you have ranger capstone? Archer set from TOD? Some other alacrity bonus? AA PrE?
Please let us know what you were testing so we can figure out if this is a real bug with something, or maybe just something you were doing different on Lammania than you were doing on the live server.
I can post fraps of both tests if necessary.
I did like the new bow sounds though...the "boing" is better than the "woosh" from before.
hmm, visually it looks like you fire slower than you used to, but possibly they just evened out the animation so it wasnt as front loaded.
Full AA line, ranger capstone, deepwoods sniper tod set and the shots seemed to be slower, did not test on actual mobs or do any scientific tests.
The new noises were throwing me off last night, but I didn't notice a speed difference.
My AA is only at 16 at the moment, but I'll run it through some attack tests once I can log in later tonight.
I've got a BAB 20 ranger/fighter with AA set that I can check too.
I have periodic stalling skips with melee, not tried ranged yet, but I figue it's due to either updating direct x, or lag.
Argh. Going to finish testing on these tomorrow including alacrity/haste and live comparison since my old thread has been eaten by langoliers. Also going to redo the tests I have done in case of weird net congestion, the results are just too weird.
Testing procedure:
Stack of 100 arrows in slot
Shoot at wall about 50' away with no players wandering into the path
Use stopwatch from start of firing until out of ammo
Count individual animations manually
On Lamannia
BAB 20 (Ranger14/Fighter 6 Tempest/Kensai)
100 arrows @ 136 seconds, 122 animations (baseline)
100 arrows @ 131 seconds, 109 animations (AA set)
100 arrows @ 131 seconds, 119 animations (AA set + Madstone for first 120 seconds)
BAB 16 (Ranger 16, AA)
100 arrows @ 172 seconds, 153 animations (baseline)

It has to be a bug and not a nerf seeing how on Lamannia there is just one result all across the board.
Maybe it was nerfed because there was too much DPS lag from arcane archers?

Just from a common sense point of view, a nerf of this magnitude would completey gimp archers to the point of complete obscurity. It has to be a bug.
Bug and not nerf but I hope it gets fixed before U7 goes live, I don't want to spend the next month waiting for a hotfix. We know Turbine is lazy when it comes to hotfixes, see how long it took them to fix the manyshot bug (not that I was upset about that one) or how long it takes them to fix the rage spell.

After an hour of testing on live, I'm still having the same issues with animations and actual attacks syncing up. So throw out my numbers, they are borked.
Just poking in to tell you that we are investigating to see if we can find an issue here.
