Epic DQ2 tonight:
Shard drops.
A and B roll off, A is higher.
C (Guildmate of B) then rolls, wins, and is passed the shard.
C and B wait until everyone recalls.
C passes shard to B.
(Waited and took screenshots of the transaction.)
What's the consensus on this kind of situation?
Seems unfair to me.. gives an unfair advantage. The point of rolling is that it's something you need.
I think it's lame. B and C also think it's lame, that's why they waited for everyone to leave before passing it again.
Its usually lame, but it depends. I have done this when I've won a roll over a guildy who then let me know that for x or y reason they'd benefit from it more immediately (eg, they'd make the item immediatley and use it and i wont), and so I would not have rolled against them and I pass them the item after winning.
Most of the time, if its done pre-meditatedly to give two chances, its pretty lame.

If you're not going to take it, then why did you roll on it in the first place?
Passing it off to the number two roller seems fine to me since that's who would have gotten it if you hadn't rolled in the first place.

If you ain't gonna loot it, then don't roll for it. Not everyone believes in that. C obviously doesn't. C is clearly a dirty loot-passer as far as I'm concerned. I don't pay much attention to these things, but C and B will not be getting any loot that shows up in a chest under my name if I did notice something like that.

I'll never understand these secret loot rules, if someone won a raffle between 12 people in real life for like trip tickets or something and then decided to give them to their friend, I doubt anyone would care. Yet every time it happens in game its pitchforks and torches. You're not the internet police, you didn't get the item, cry more. Once you pass the item it is no longer yours no matter how you may personally feel about it, and if you are worried about people swapping raid items to a guildie, just loot them yourself.

Because the items are bound to character, only people who are actually going to use the item end up rolling for it. You don't see 12 people rolling on most raid loot. It's not like every piece of raid loot is the ultimate gear for your character like Ring of Thellis for a Ranger or whatnot.)
To sum up:
A and B both roll because A and B are the only ones who want the gear.
A and B each have a 50% chance of getting the gear.
A and B and C all roll even though only A and B want the gear. C will pass to B if C wins.
A has a 33% chance of winning and B has a 66% chance of winning.
Which do you think K wanted to see when K put the item up for a roll?
It is the person who put the item up for roll's item. If that person decides that he/she wants it to go to the winner of a d100 roll - it should go to the winner of that roll and not get passed around. I do not like discouraging people from putting items up for roll by passing around items because I think people putting items up for roll and being generous should be encouraged.Quote:
