Yesterday I tried for the first time Stone of Change in Marketplace. I tried to bind/attune several items. The Stone refused ("ominous grinding sound") boots and cloak -- neither was bound, and cloak was already permanently damaged. It successfully bound/attuned Muckbane (which was bound already), and ring of swimming. Why are some items rejected?
Was there a minimum level on either item?
You need ML^2 khyber dragon shards to bind an item. If there is no minimum level, it takes 400, as it assumes the item is level 20 for some reason. (20*20)
No, I specifically checked for that. Expeditious Boots are minimum level 1, and got rejected.
The only other reason I could see that they would get rejected is if they were an end reward that was bound already. You didn't get them from Sharn did you?

I'm having similar issues. +2 Flaming Returning Throwing Hammer of Righteousness is ML6. When I place it and 36 Khyber Dragonshard Fragments into the Stone of Change, I get "Failure! The device shudders ominously, then emits a threatening rumble. Nothing else seems to have happened."
What gives?
I don't think you can bind items that are damaged (not at the maximum not including permanent damage).
Would have to recheck, but I think I had this issue before, and the items just needed to be repaired and then it worked.

I always stick in a stack MORE than what is min required. Why? It will take what it needs. No need to make a special small stack for it. (Yes, I'm lazy.)Quote:

It is possible to open the Stone of Change dialog box and put items into the stone, but for failure to occur upon forging because you aren't standing close enough to the stone. Don't know why, but it happens.
I'm not able to bind any throwing items.
This is probably because they don't take damage from normal use.
I wouldn't worry about it, just keep the item Locked and forget about it.
As for the wearables that cannot be bound, I have never run into that myself so I have no idea, sorry.
Make sure the items have no Temporary Damage.. Repair FIrst. THen Bind and Atune.

Think of it like a studio 54 for ingridients. The right combo gets you in no problem the big star collectibles like the vials of pure water and silver flame hymnals and lightning split soarwoods get right in..heck they even throw in a pity let in for the prayer beads though they have to come in a pack.

meh dont mind my poor attempt at the funny simply put the stone of change is fussy you have to put the right combo of items and the right amount in for it to work. Somethings are allowed in there somethings arent. You cant use your shroud ingredients in the stone of change because they are Eldiritch based, but you can put your crafted items in there to rebind them and use rituals using collectibles. Its all about reading and research (which ive found some dont want to do) but it has to be done if you want to know what you can and cannot put in the stone of change.
At this time you cannot bind any throwing weapons, I'm not sure exactly why but all I can think of is because they are all coded similar and most of them are not returning. Just as you can bind no arrows to yourself (again i believe it is because most don't return). Until they rewrite the coding to allow returning items to be bound you will just have to lock them in inventory and deal with the damage they can do.
The reason you can't put Throwing Weapons or Ammunition in Stones of Change is, at least to my guesswork, that otherwise people could do things like charge 20 Shroud Powercells using only a single stack of arrows.
i successfully attuned my Roguebane Breastplate Medium Armor, but unequipping/unlocking the armor and taking the 15 prayer beads and 5 vials of pure water out of my bag and putting them into the Stone of Change results in a failure message. the armor is freshly repaired with no permanent damage and was not previously bound.
A /necro of mixed feelingz. Nice seeing names I hadn't seen in years. :) :(
