Some great suggestions

Hey there Devs

I found this over on the free player forums, and I wanted to repeat it here because there are some excellent points brought up...

- A simple way to verify the location (in game) of online friends and party members. Perhaps the friends panel could list where in game the player currently is or a mouse over on their party icon could provide this info.

- Visual representation of more items on character models. ex. A quiver on your back if one is equipped and you're using a ranged weapon; being able to actually sheathe your weapons and not have them vanish, but instead show the bow on your back or the shield, sword at your hip etc.; Show boots, gloves, cloak. ALL of the above visable on character selection screen.

- No gelatinous cubes or wyverns in game? Was sad to find out I was'nt going to watch a party member get enveloped by an ooze cube.

- When selecting spells at lvl up, the spells school is not listed, listing the school at this point could further assist in lvling choices without having to fire up ddo wiki or the like.

- A chance in game to respec ones alignment. Either by in game currency, Tpoints or better yet, a few small quest lines that would have you working toward evil or good ambitions, once completed you would be rewarded with the appropriate alignment change. Many new players (especilally those unfamiliar w/ 3.5) have little knowledge regarding the actual impact of alignment on the game mechanics. Providing the chance to respec this aspect would alliviate frustration at end game.

- Specific animations for trip, sunder etc. currently these skills are barely noticable when activated. Having specific animations/visual feedback may help to improve players use of these skills.

- Fix small bug where sometime mouse over tooltips will disappear almost instantly.

- Health bars/timers for summoned creatures. I use the hotkey cooldown as a timer for my summons but I find it frustrating that I am unaware of a summons current health with out targeting it. In the midst of battle it would be very helpful to have a small summons healthbar/info window similar to any party member or even hireling.

- Ability to see all items available to anyone in the ddo store regardless of lvl/class. Not sure why this barrier is in place. Being able to see everything at any time would allow you to better plan for the future.

I would add to this...

-Add a walk animation, instead of a slowed down version of the run.

-make weapon hotkeys toggle between weapons out/ weapons put away. Right now, if you have 2 weapons equipped and you want to put 1 of them away, you have to hit 3 hotkeys.

(eg: my Wiz has a sceptre of spell pen. in one hand, and a wand of scorching ray in another....if I want to just put away my wand, so I hit with just the sceptre and don't waste wand charges on the breakables, I have to hit an empty weapon set hotkey to put both away, then hit a hotkey with just the sceptre on it, then hit a wand/sceptre set hotkey to re-equip the original set...VERY time consuming and a waste of valuable hotkeys.)

I am also a returning player, and I'm very impressed with the game and hope to be in Eberron for some time. Please consider implementing some of these suggestions.

The existing system is entirely adequate. Any reasonable set of item icons will naturally include some that would suffice for the need of breaking crates.

It is unhelpful for your character to hold equipment such as that. You'll want to go research exactly what spell pen is for.

There are gelatinous cubes in game, you just have to level enough for it.

There is a respec system in the works, no real details yet.

Yes, I know there is a keymapping for "walk"....but my point is, it's NOT a walk. It's a slowed down version of the run animation. I'm not the only one who thinks it looks ridiculous.

Well, its not adequate for my purposes. What do you do when you want to put away your off hand? All I want is an easy way to do this.

I started playing D&D in 1983. I do know exactly what spell pen does. Why do you think it is unhelpful? My necro/enchanter specced wizard finds it very helpful.

Step 1: Drag your desired weapon into a weapon set, and drag weapon set onto your quickbar.
Step 2: Done. Use infinitely.

Thanks for the suggestion, hydra_ex. I tried something similar...I dragged the single weapon from my inventory to a hotkey. When I clicked it, if I had two weapons equipped, it didn't unequip the 2nd weapon. I'll try your method.

Yeah...why do I get the feeling that someone will be you? OK...off the top of my head...When trying to land a charm spell on any creature with spell resistance, spell penetration is helpful.

What are unhelpful are your responses to this thread. If you don't want to address my questions or stay on topic please stay away.
