Looking for a fun build
idk anything about how to get 32 pt instead of 28pt
no $$$ for tomes im new
and dont have drow
i would like to do Good Dps with Good Solo ability
I like Rogue and Monk
Combine them somehow to make a good affordable easy to understand build

Rogue and Monk is a GREAT combination, but it's not particularly solo-friendly. Probably the closest is the Rogue 13/Ranger 6/Monk 1 Halfling that is popular right now. This can definitely be done with 28 points, and I give some ideas on how in this thread: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=183557, particularly in post #29.
I have also theorized an untested WF Rogue 12/Fighter 6/Monk 2 intimitank that I think has very solid solo potential, but is FAR from simple, and may be awkward without ideal equipment. I'll dig up the link if you are really interested, but it's really not a new player kinda build, even though I did create a 28-point version.
Personally I'd say make a class you think you'd like playing, maybe something you canrun solo with. Then grind your favor up. 32 is better...
Bah. While I cannot argue against 32 being greater than 28, 32-point builds are so over-rated it's funny. A good 28-point build beats a bad 32-point build trivially.Quote:

Might want to consider starting with one of each, pure monk & pure rogue, to get a feel for what each is like. Not sure about monks, but I know rogues & multiclasses tend to be a bit on the complicated side when it comes to setting them up for good solo ability.
You didn't mention what it was you like about rogues & monks - class abilities, genre/"feel", sneaking around, evasion, backstabbing, high dex....it may be that some other class combination would give you what you want & be easier to build for soling without a lot of twinking.
Then there's the question of how much soloing, and when. If you just want to solo occasionally, and will be grouping most of the time, any decent build can do that. If you want to solo exclusively from 1-20, you may need to be more selective. Do you need to be able to disable every trap & open every lock solo, or do you just want to be able to complete quests?
Just a few things to think about, to give the builders a better idea how to craft something you'll really enjoy :)
A player with the same skill level will do much better with a 32pt build, dont compare a good-player/bad-player scenario because we arent comparing playstyle. 32pt builds are not over-rated, they simply allow more options in your character, whether it be; feats, skills, hps, sps, dps, ac, etc. Every little bit makes a difference.Quote:

I agree with everything you said except the highlight word "much." Of course it's better -- I just think the marginal value is a lot less than most people think. Ok, so you can add 1 point to your primary stat (cost of 3 points) and 1 point to a minor stat (cost of 1 point). Yep, your character is better. But MUCH better? Can't see how it could be. The only time a 32-point build will be MUCH better is if it allows you enough points to hit some thresholds -- such as the prereqs for both TWF and Divine Might on a Paladin.Quote:
