View Full Version : Inquisitive Build Idea - needs some assistance, or put out of its misery

I've been trying to decide on a build to use with the Inquisitive tree for a few days now. I'm thinking arty 12/ fighter 6 / monk 2

Lots of room for feats, but with the 41 AP for inquisitive and 28(ish) for battle engineer, it's a bit AP starved for anything else.

It would also need for sure at least 3 AP in harper for int to hit, which isn't going to leave a lot extra, as I only have a couple racial AP to spend.

That's 72(ish) AP basically required. Could perhaps skip Endless Fusilade and save a few AP, but that 10 extra ranged power from no holds barred does look good.

I worry that there wouldn't be enough AP to invest in defenses. There should be enough feats to get grandmaster of forms for the 12% to dodge.

I haven't played an arty in a LONG time, so I don't know how well they do in reaper content these days. Last time I played an arty was when the cap was still 20, and they were pretty squishy at higher levels back then. I'm guessing with all the various new goodies from equipment now they are a bit more survivable?

crossbows are not monk weapons, they uncenter monks
rune arms uncenter monks
uncentered monks cannot be in stances

Ah, totally overlooked the monk stance requiring centered. Still useful for feats/evasion, but guess those stances are a nogo

Rogue also offers evasion and some sneak die. Monk is really neutered as a splash without stances. You'd have to go with a kensei T5 and just partial inqui tree or something, then artI is just for spells and feats and skip runearms.

But yeah ap is the limiting factor for the build. You'll want at least 8 in Harper for KTA, if you're taking arti for ins damage.

I followed this train of thought too and I ended up with an 11 rgr/5 arti/4 fighter....you get all kinds of feats, evasion, and dws to back up inqui. I think 18 rogue is another fork in that road.

I would go 2 rogue with what you are running just for better skill points. diplo, trapping, jump, umd, balance, heal, all of these are desirable skills. I would get strategic combat 2 and know the angles from harper and be able to cast other weapon buffs to break dr. Dont wory about defenses. Your defenses are agro shedding and attacking from far away with high damage.

I'll probably give this a go next life. Rogue sounds like it would be slightly more useful and with the fighter levels I would probably have enough feats already. Thanks for the input.
