So, why don't the various animal form druid spells charge up stacks of Arcane Warrior: Melee?

Interesting. They break Defensive Fighting as a stance, so they certainly should count as actual spells for the sake of Arcane Warrior. It might actually add an use for this really niche feat.

Yeah, they seem pretty determined to make this feat basically useless for any build that might actually WANT to use it.

Because this feat should be called Eldritch warrior. It is useless for everyone except for warlock, because only the warlock has the capacity to earn melees power charges efficiently. I have tried to use this feat in several lives with artificer, but arti SLAs do not generate melee charges either. A wizard could not generate charges efficiently either, since his auras ans SLAs do not work (they generate zero charges) and spells as wall of fire only generate one charge
Devs should rename this feat and leave it for warlock, and create another one (a true arcane warrior feat!) for the other hybrid spellcasters, which generates melee power charges with any casting that implies a cost in spell points and with more procs with auras and lasting spells as ice storm. What does it matter if the spells are healing or not? The eldritch blast/aura of the warlock is free, and a spell always costs sp.

no SLA works with this feat. Try it with SLA from other classes, like for example arti: they do not work. The design of the feat is deplorable. Only works for warlock

It works just fine with Death Aura and FvS Archon.
edit: The problem of this feat is it competes with Dire Charge.

not true. Death aura doesn't work. and Coco said that it was by design, because death aura is a "healing" spell
But eldritch aura, which is spell point free, works. Great design, meh
Arcane Warrior is set up to build charges off of either attacks or harmful spells.
Casting anything that is classified as a harmful spell (which includes a lot of things that you wouldn't necessarily think of such as Monks Cauldron of Flame and Favored Souls Lantern Archon shots) will result in it's buff value being increased.
On the flipside anything classified as a helpful spell (which has to include things like Death Aura for a variety of reasons) will not result in the buff value being increased.
No spell can be classified as both. So, Death Aura and the other spells which heal palemasters can not qualify for this ability. Systematically, they just can't.

The problem is that the feat is useless for all not warlocks. So, doesn't compete with dire charge. It would compete if the feat was useful. This feat needs a redesign, or rename it and create an authentic arcane warlock feat, since the current one only works well for warlocks

So, we put this feat into the same category as Primal Avatar's gaining of Spirits ~ only work/worthwhile for aura builds.
Something that needs to be addressed someday.

lol, Arcane Pulse and Dire Charge are tier one...

not true. Primal Avatar's gaining of Spirits works with all aura builds. This feat doesn't work with cleric aura (it's healing, not offensive), doesn't work with death aura (it's healing for devs, not offensive), doesn't work with any aura less warlock aura. This feat only works for warlocks, period. Fvs archon works, but with the current state of melee fvs and the meh warpriest tree...
And worse, offensive SLAs don't work either with this feat. Why? They are offensive. Well, it is a mystery, but they don't work. Try with Artificer SLAs. In my last artificer life I did the mistake of trying again this feat... and nothing.

Blade barrier does work, but that's about it.

Hmm...sounds like this feat needs a lot of love from Quality Control.

Hm, interesting. I always thought Death Aura would work since it's damaging enemies around you, but never really tested it. I've only tested Warlock aura (the obvious) and FvS Archon.
The feat needs to be redesigned to work with any and all damaging spells then. I don't see the reason it won't work with death aura or any other damaging spell like Consecration from DC. And it will still have to compete with Dire Charge and people will still not pick it!
