I'd guess one of four possible things:

Texture files are corrupted.
Driver files are corrupted.
Video card is malfunctioning.
Power supply cannot supply the correct voltage.

Yeah I've noticed some missing textures on a couple of things. My computer has been acting funny lately and I think it's something with the drivers. I got the blue screen of death not too long ago and for me that's always been caused by driver issues before.
